Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to devices for cleaning the lower extremities of a person's body and more particularly, a brush having an elongated handle, multiple cleaning surfaces and finger-like projections used for cleaning a user's feet, legs, and in-between his or her toes while the user is in a standing position.

Many people are physically unable to crouch down or bend over and reach their feet due to a variety of different reasons, such as physical disabilities, age, physical size, etc. The failure to wash a person's feet everyday can lead to infections, which can lead to even more serious problems for people who have physical disabilities and/or physical ailments, such as diabetes, that cause poor circulation. A problem for these people is that they are unable to crouch down or bend over to wash their feet while in the shower or while in a bath tub. Although there are currently scrub brushes attached to the ends of handles that may be used to clean a person's lower extremities without having to bend over, it is difficult to clean in between a person's toes with these scrub brushes. Furthermore, current scrub brushes do not allow a user to adjust the length of the handle that is attached to the scrub brush to accommodate the height of a user or the area of the body being washed.

Therefore, a need exists for a scrub brush that can not only be used for scrubbing the surfaces of a person's legs and feet but a scrub brush that is extendable and can be used to clean in-between a person's toes without having to bend over or crouch down.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a foot cleaning brush that allows a user to wash his or her lower extremities while in a standing position.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a foot cleaning brush that allows a user to wash in-between his or her toes while in a standing position.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a foot cleaning brush having an adjustable handle that allows a user to adjust the length of handle according to his or her height or to the body part being washed.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a foot cleaning brush having an adjustment means that allows a user to adjust the spacing between the finger-like projections according to the size of his or her feet and toes.

The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing a multi-purpose cleaning head that is attached to one end of a telescoping handle. The telescoping handle allows a user to adjust the handle to different lengths depending on a user's height and what part of the body the user is washing. The cleaning head has two sides. On one side of the head are bristles for washing the main areas of a user's body. The side of the head having bristles may be flat or concave so that it curves around a user's leg. On the opposite side of the cleaning head is a gritty material, such as pumice, for scrubbing calluses on a user's feet. Finger-like projections extend from the bottom of the cleaning head and are used to wash in-between a user's toes.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

For purposes of describing the preferred embodiment, the terminology used in reference to the numbered accessories in the drawings is as follows:

With reference to FIG. 1, a front view of a foot cleaning brush 1 with finger-like projections 2 of the present invention is shown. A multi-purpose cleaning head 4 is attached to one end of an elongated handle 3. The handle 3 is a telescopic handle which allows a user to adjust the handle 3 to different lengths depending on a user's height and what part of the body the user is washing. The cleaning head 4 has a front surface 9 and a rear surface 10. On the front surface 9 side of the cleaning head is a first cleaning surface 5, which may be a brush 7, as shown here, a cloth material 11, pumice 12 or a sponge 13. The first cleaning surface 5 may be flat or substantially concave, as shown in FIG. 3, so that it curves around a user's leg. As shown in FIG. 2, on the rear surface 10 of the cleaning head 4 is a second cleaning surface 6, which may be a brush 7, a cloth material 11, pumice 12 or a sponge 13. A plurality of finger-like projections 2 extend downward from the bottom of the cleaning head 4 and are used to wash in-between a user's toes. The finger-like projections 2 may be permanently attached to the cleaning head 4 or removably attached to the cleaning head 4 via an adjustment means 8, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Referring now to FIG. 2, a rear view of a foot cleaning brush 1 with finger-like projections 2 of the present invention is shown. A multi-purpose cleaning head 4 is attached to one end of an elongated handle 3. The handle 3 is a telescopic handle which allows a user to adjust the handle 3 to different lengths depending on a user's height and what part of the body the user is washing. The cleaning head 4 has a front surface 9, as shown in FIG. 1, and a rear surface 10. On the rear surface 10 of the cleaning head 4 is a second cleaning surface 6, which may be a brush 7, a cloth material 11, as shown here, pumice 12 or a sponge 13. A plurality of finger-like projections 2 extend downward from the bottom of the cleaning head 4 and are used to wash in-between a user's toes. The finger-like projections 2 may be permanently attached to the cleaning head 4 or removably attached to the cleaning head 4 via an adjustment means 8, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Referring now to FIG. 3, a bottom view of a cleaning head 4 of the present invention having an adjustment means 8 used for adjusting the placement of finger-like projections 2 on the cleaning head 4 is shown. The cleaning head 4 has a front surface 9 and a rear surface 10. On the front surface 9 side of the cleaning head is a first cleaning surface 5, which may be a brush 7, as shown here, a cloth material 11, pumice 12 or a sponge 13. The first cleaning surface 5 may be flat or substantially concave, as shown here, so that it curves around a user's leg. The first cleaning surface 5 may also be rigid or made of a bendable material that allows a user to conform the first cleaning surface 5 to his or her leg. On the rear surface 10 of the cleaning head 4 is a second cleaning surface 6, which may be a brush 7, a cloth material 11, pumice 12, as shown here, or a sponge 13. A plurality of finger-like projections 2 extend downward from the bottom of the cleaning head 4 and are used to wash in-between a user's toes, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The finger-like projections 2 may be permanently attached to the cleaning head 4 or removably attached to the cleaning head 4 via an adjustment means 8, such as a plurality of apertures 14 that the finger-like projections 2 attach into, that allow a user to adjust the spacing between the finger-like projections 2 according to the size of his or her feet and toes.

Referring now to FIG. 4, a side plan view of a foot cleaning brush 1 of the present invention showing finger-like projections 2 adjusted to the angle of a person's toes using an adjustment means 8 is shown. A multi-purpose cleaning head 4 is attached to one end of an elongated handle 3. The finger-like projections 2 may be permanently attached to the cleaning head 4 or removably attached to the cleaning head 4 via an adjustment means 8, such as a plurality of apertures 14 that the finger-like projections 2 attach into, that allow a user to adjust the spacing between the finger-like projections 2 according to the size of his or her feet and toes.

Finally referring to FIG. 5, a front plan view of a foot cleaning brush 1 of the present invention having an adjustment means 8 used for adjusting the placement of finger-like projections 2 on the cleaning head 4 and horizontal toe brushes 15, 16 is shown. A multi-purpose cleaning head 4 is attached to one end of an elongated handle 3. The handle 3 is a telescopic handle which allows a user to adjust the handle 3 to different lengths depending on a user's height and what part of the body the user is washing. An upper horizontal toe brush 15 and a lower horizontal toe brush 16 are located on the cleaning head 4. The upper horizontal toe brush 15 and a lower horizontal toe brush 16 allow a user to wash the tops and bottoms of his or her toes. The upper horizontal toe brush 15 may be adjusted up or down via an adjustment means 17, which as shown here is a plurality of slots 18 located on the cleaning head 4. A plurality of finger-like projections 2 extend downward from the bottom of the cleaning head 4 and are used to wash in-between a user's toes. The finger-like projections 2 may be permanently attached to the cleaning head 4 or removably attached to the cleaning head 4 via an adjustment means 8, such as a plurality of apertures 14 that the finger-like projections 2 attach into, that allow a user to adjust the spacing between the finger-like projections 2 according to the size of his or her feet and toes.

It is to be understood that while a preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated, it is not to be limited to the specific form or arrangement of parts herein described and shown. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention and the invention is not to be considered limited to what is shown and described in the specification and drawings.
