Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to carrying cases for electronic devices, more particularly, a carrying case for electronic devices having a four-point attachment system that allows a user to wear the carrying case in a horizontal or vertical position flat against the chest of the user.

Carrying case are commonly used for carrying and protecting electronic devices, such as cellular telephones, cameras, camcorders, MP3 players and other electronic storage devices. Carrying cases protect electronic devices from being scratched and/or damaged. In addition, some carrying cases allow users to carry electronic devices on their person, such as on a user's belt, on a user's arm or around a user's neck. The majority of conventional carrying cases are designed for electronic devices that store and play music, such as MP3 players. These carrying cases allow a user to carry the electronic device and listen to music while remaining hands free. However, conventional carrying cases are not designed for carrying electronic devices having video recording capabilities on a user's body. More specifically, conventional carrying cases do not allow users to attach electronic devices, such as an IPHONE®, cell phones, FLIP® video cameras, etc., to the user's chest for the purpose of videotaping or displaying videos while the user's hands remain free.

Therefore a need exists for a carrying case for electronic devices that allows a user to wear an electronic device carrying case flat against his or her chest in a vertical or horizontal position for the purpose of videotaping or displaying videos while the user's hands remain free.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that allows a user to record and play video.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that may be worn flat against a user's chest in a vertical or horizontal position.

An even further object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that may be worn in an angled position against a user's chest in a vertical or horizontal position.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that allows a user to record video while remaining hands free.

An even further object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that allows a user to watch video while remaining hands free.

An additional object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case for electronic devices that allows a user to display video to others while remaining hands free.

The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing a carrying case for electronic devices comprising a substantially rectangular-shaped sleeve having a upper edge, a lower edge, two side edges, a front surface, a rear surface and an opening. Attachment means, such as grommets, clips, rings, etc., are located at each corner of the case. A user may attach an upper strap to the attachment means so that the user can wear the carrying case around his or her neck. In addition, the user may attach a lower strap to the attachment means so that the user can further secure the carrying case around his or her torso. The upper and lower straps ensure that the carrying case will lie flat against the user's chest. The user may attach the upper and lower straps to the carrying case so that the carrying case is worn vertically or horizontally. A video window preferably located on the rear surface of the carrying case allows a video lens of an electronic device to record video through the rear surface. A flap may also be located on the rear surface. The flap covers the video window and the video lens. The flap may be opened to expose the video lens while recording video. In addition, a microphone window is located on the front surface to allow for sound to pass through the front surface to a microphone located in the electronic device. A speaker window is also located on the front surface to allow sound to pass through the front surface from a speaker located in the electronic device. A viewing window located on the front surface allows a user to view a video screen on the electronic device. The viewing window may be an open space or be a clear material, such as plastic, to protect the video screen of the electronic device.

To use the carrying case for videotaping, a user first places an electronic device, such as an I PHONE®, in the carrying case. Then, the user attaches the upper strap around his or her neck. Then the user attaches the lower strap around his or her torso so that the rear surface is facing away from the user. The user can then use the electronic device to videotape everything in front of the user. Alternatively, the user can display video on his or her chest to others by wearing the carrying case with the front surface facing away from his or her chest. In addition, the user can lengthen the upper strap so that the carrying case will lie horizontal to the ground with the front surface facing upward, thereby allowing the user to watch video on the electronic device.
