The present invention is generally related container devices for storage, and more particularly related to a storage jar container having two or more resealable openings and an internal filter. An exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed double-sided storage jar container apparatus comprises: a container body forming a first aperture for receiving a first lid and a second aperture for receiving a second lid; the first lid for sealing the first aperture; the second lid for sealing the second aperture; and a filter positioned within the container body.

Many types of storage containers are available to facilitate storage of items. Commercially available jar-type containers are typically formed of glass and have a single opening, or aperture, located at the top of the jar. The lid for sealing the aperture of a standard glass jar-type storage container is typically a screw-on type lid that fits into threading formed on the edges of the single aperture. The seal created by the screw-on lid may be air-tight.
Certain endeavors may require alternative storage container designs and functionalities. The present invention meets the specific needs of specialized endeavors by providing a novel storage container having two or more apertures (a first aperture and a second aperture) and an internal filter.

FIG. 2 illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed storage container showing exemplary dimensions for an embodiment of the storage container, in accordance with the present invention; and
FIG. 3 illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed storage container, shown without dimensions to demonstrate alternative embodiments having dimensions that are variable depending on the intended purpose of the storage container.
The present invention is generally related container devices for storage, and more particularly related to a storage jar container having two resealable openings and an internal filter. An exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed double-sided storage jar container apparatus comprises: a container body forming a first aperture for receiving a first lid and a second aperture for receiving a second lid; the first lid for sealing the first aperture; the second lid for sealing the second aperture; and a filter positioned within the container body.
Referring to FIG. 1, the herein disclosed storage container 101 includes container body 110 forming first aperture 120 for receiving first lid 121 and second aperture 130 for receiving second lid 131. The herein disclosed storage container 101 further includes filter 140 positioned within container body 101.
Container body 110 may, in an exemplary embodiment, be formed of glass. Alternatively, container body 110 may be formed of any material that is impermeable to liquids and air, so that storage container 101 may be made air tight (and/or be made so that scents and smells are unable to escape storage container 101 when sealed). Container body 110 may be substantially cylindrical shaped, much like a standard glass jar. In alternative embodiments, container body 110 may be formed in a different shape (such as a cubic-shape, for example).
Container body 110 of storage container 101 forms first aperture 120. First aperture 120 is an opening on an end of container body 110. First aperture 120 may span the entire diameter (or width) of container body 110, or in an alternative embodiment, first aperture 120 may span less than the entire diameter (or width) of container body 110 so that first aperture 120 may have a different (and smaller) diameter than container body 110. First aperture 120 may be sealed by first lid 121. In an exemplary embodiment, first lid 121 may be a screw-on type lid, as is known in the art. In this embodiment, first aperture 120, as formed by container body 110, may form threading (or threads) at the edges of first aperture 120, so as to receive a screw-on type lid as may be included at first lid 121. In an alternative embodiment, first lid 121 may be a press-fit type lid that is formed of a plastic material and may be attached to first aperture 120 by pressing the lid onto the aperture. Those skilled in the art will recognize that many types of lids may be appropriate to provide an air-tight (or substantially air-tight) seal at first aperture 120, and all such types of lids (and all such types of formations for receiving the alternative lids at first aperture 120) are intended to be included herein.
Container body 110 of storage container 101 also forms second aperture 130. Second aperture 130 is an opening on an end of container body 110. Second aperture 130 may span the entire diameter (or width) or container body 110, or in an alternative embodiment, second aperture 130 may span less than the entire diameter (or width) or container body 110 so that second aperture 130 may have a different (and smaller) diameter than container body 110. Second aperture 130 may be sealed by second lid 131. In an exemplary embodiment, second lid 131 may be a screw-on type lid, as is known in the art. In this embodiment, second aperture 130, as formed by container body 110, may form threading (or threads) at the edges of second aperture 130, so as to receive a screw-on type lid as may be included at second lid 131. In an alternative embodiment, second lid 131 may be a press-fit type lid that is formed of a plastic material and may be attached to second aperture 130 by pressing the lid onto the aperture. Those skilled in the art will recognize that many types of lids may be appropriate to provide an air-tight (or substantially air-tight) seal at second aperture 130, and all such types of lids (and all such types of formations for receiving the alternative lids at second aperture 130) are intended to be included herein.
In an exemplary embodiment, and as illustrated in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, first aperture 120 and second aperture 130 may have the same diameter. In this exemplary embodiment, first lid 121 for sealing first aperture 120 may be substantially similar to second lid 131 for sealing second aperture 130. But in an alternative embodiment, first aperture 120 may have a different diameter than second aperture 130. In certain alternative embodiments, first lid 121 may differ from second lid 131. For example, the herein disclosed storage container may have a first aperture with a relatively large diameter utilizing a screw-on type lid for sealing the first aperture, and a second aperture with a relatively small diameter utilizing a press-fit type lid for sealing the second aperture.
The herein disclosed storage container 101 further includes filter 140 positioned within container body 110. Filter 140 may be any type of filter known in the art. In an exemplary embodiment, filter 140 may span the entire diameter (or width, in the case of a non-cylindrical container body) of container body 110. In an alternative embodiment, filter 140 may span less than the entire diameter (or width) of container body 110. Filter 140 may be positioned anywhere within container body 110. In an exemplary embodiment, and as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, filter 140 may be positioned substantially in the middle of container body 110, thus substantially separating the internal portion of storage container 101 into two substantially equal halves of substantially equal volumes. But in alternative embodiments, filter 140 may be placed closer towards either the first aperture or the second aperture, thus separating the internal portion of storage container 101 into two unequal portions of unequal volumes.
Referring now to FIG. 2, an exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed storage container 101 is illustrated. Storage container 101 includes container body 110 forming first aperture 120 and second aperture 130. In this exemplary embodiment, container body 110 is illustrated as forming threading (or threads) at first aperture 120 and at second aperture 130. In this exemplary embodiment, storage container 101 is formed so as to utilize screw-on type lids at first aperture 120 to seal first aperture 120 and at second aperture 130 to seal second aperture 130. In FIG. 2, the lids themselves (first lid 121 and second lid 131) are not shown.
All dimensions shown in FIG. 2 are intended to be exemplary and are included to illustrate a preferred embodiment of the present invention. But it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that alternative dimensions for the present invention may adequately address the issue of providing a double-sided storage container having an internal filter, and all such alternative dimensions for the present invention are intended to be included herein. The phrase double-sided is used throughout this specification to refer to the fact that the herein disclosed storage container includes a first aperture sealed by a first lid and a second aperture sealed by a second lid. But the phrase double-sided is not intended to limit the disclosure provided herein, and should not be read as precluding the possibility that the herein disclosed storage container may form more than two apertures (each sealed by a lid), in certain embodiments. For example, storage container 101 may have a first aperture sealed by a first lid, a second aperture sealed by a second lid, and a third aperture sealed by a third lid.
Referring now to FIG. 3, an exemplary embodiment of the herein disclosed storage container 101 is illustrated without dimensions to demonstrate alternative embodiments having dimensions that are variable depending on the intended purpose of the storage container. Storage container 101 includes container body 110 forming first aperture 120 and second aperture 130. In this exemplary embodiment, container body 110 is illustrated as forming first aperture threading 122 (or threads) at first aperture 120; container body 110 also forms second aperture threading 132 and at second aperture 130. In this exemplary embodiment, storage container 101 is formed so as to utilize screw-on type lids; first lid 121 may be received at first aperture 120 to seal first aperture 120 and second lid 131 may be received at second aperture 130 to seal second aperture 130.
While the present invention has been illustrated and described herein in terms of a preferred embodiment and several alternatives, it is to be understood that the apparatus described herein can have a multitude of additional uses and applications. Accordingly, the invention should not be limited to just the particular description and various drawing figures contained in this specification that merely illustrate a preferred embodiment and application of the principles of the invention.
1. A storage container apparatus comprising:
a container body forming a first aperture for receiving a first lid and a second aperture for receiving a second lid;
the first lid for sealing the first aperture;
the second lid for sealing the second aperture; and
a filter positioned within the container body.
2. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body forms first aperture threading at the first aperture and wherein the container body forms second aperture threading at the second aperture.
3. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body forms first aperture threading at an edge of the first aperture and wherein the container body forms second aperture threading at an edge of the second aperture.
4. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first lid and the second lid are screw-on type lids.
5. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first lid and the second lid are press-fit type lids.
6. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first lid forms an air-tight seal at the first aperture and wherein the second lid forms an air-tight seal at the second aperture.
7. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the filter is positioned in a middle position of the container body separating the storage container into two halves having equal volumes.
8. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first aperture has a first aperture diameter and the second aperture has a second aperture diameter, and wherein the first aperture diameter is equal to the second aperture diameter.
9. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first aperture has a first aperture diameter and the second aperture has a second aperture diameter, and wherein the first aperture diameter is greater than the second aperture diameter.
10. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the first aperture has a first aperture diameter and the second aperture has a second aperture diameter, and wherein the first aperture diameter is relatively large in comparison to the second aperture diameter.
11. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body is formed of glass.
12. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body is formed of a material that is impermeable to liquids and air.
13. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a cylindrical shape.
14. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a cubic shape.
15. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a container body diameter, the first aperture has a first aperture diameter, and the second aperture has a second aperture diameter, and wherein the first aperture diameter, the second aperture diameter, and the container body diameter are all substantially equal.
16. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a container body diameter, and wherein the first aperture spans the entire container body diameter.
17. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a container body diameter, and wherein the second aperture spans the entire container body diameter.
18. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein the container body has a container body diameter and the first aperture has a first aperture diameter, and wherein the first aperture diameter is less than the container body diameter.
19. A storage container apparatus comprising:
a container body forming a first aperture and first aperture threading for receiving a first lid, and forming a second aperture and second aperture threading for receiving a second lid, wherein the container body has a container body diameter, the first aperture has a first aperture diameter, and the second aperture has a second aperture diameter;
the first lid for sealing the first aperture;
the second lid for sealing the second aperture; and
a filter positioned within the container body substantially separating an internal portion of the storage container into two substantially equal halves having substantially equal volumes.
20. The storage container apparatus as recited in claim 19, wherein container body diameter, the first aperture diameter, and the second aperture diameter are all equal.
