The horizontal arm 106 cradles the head and neck of a user, filling the gap between the head and the mattress and thereby preventing misalignment of the cervical spine. The longer vertical arm 104 extends downward to serve as an armrest or chest bolster, preventing the user's arm from becoming pinned beneath the body, which can cause discomfort, shoulder compression, or numbness. By acting as a supportive bolster, the vertical arm 104 can also be hugged to provide comforting pressure along the upper torso, further stabilizing the body. Additionally, the L-shaped configuration of the body 102 benefits side sleepers who curl their legs by acting as a natural body pillow. In one embodiment, the arms 104,106 may differ in height. In another embodiment, the arms 104,106 may be the same height to provide for various sleeping positions and preferences.

The device 100 accommodates multiple sleeping positions to suit individual preferences. In one embodiment, the user places their head on the horizontal arm 106 while resting their arm and torso along the vertical arm 104 for upper body support, as seen in FIG. 3. The device 100 may also be folded or rotated to support different areas of the body. When folded in half, both arms 104, 106 can provide double-layer support for added height beneath the head or chest. In a reversed or flipped orientation, the vertical arm 104 can be positioned beneath the user's knees to provide elevation and relieve lower back strain. Additionally, the device 100 may be positioned lengthwise across the user's body to act as a chest-hug bolster that stabilizes the torso and prevents excessive rotational movement during sleep. These adjustable positions make the device 100 beneficial not only for side sleepers but also for back sleepers or individuals who require additional elevation for therapeutic purposes. The ability to fine-tune the position and configuration of the body 102 allows users to customize their sleep experience to meet their unique needs.

The body 102 is constructed from various materials that can be selected based on individual preferences. In one embodiment, the body 102 may be made from memory foam, which conforms to the user's body shape, providing adaptive support while redistributing pressure away from key areas such as the neck and shoulders. The memory foam may be offered in various densities to adjust the rebound time and firmness level, enhancing customization. In another embodiment, the body 102 may be filled with down or a down alternative for users who prefer a softer, more cushioned feel. The down alternative may be made from synthetic fibers designed to mimic the plushness of traditional down while being hypoallergenic and more breathable. For users prone to overheating during sleep, the body 102 may be made from cooling gel-infused foam designed to dissipate body heat and regulate temperature. Alternatively, the body 102 may be made from natural fibers such as cotton or bamboo, which provide a lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking option that enhances overall comfort. In some embodiments, the body 102 may comprise a combination of these materials arranged in dividable sections such as but not limited to layers, encasements, sections, areas, etc., to achieve an optimal balance of structure and softness. For example, a core of memory foam may be surrounded by a layer of bamboo fill or down.

More specifically, the device 100 may include at least one adjustable foam layer 112 (as seen in FIG. 2) that can be inserted or removed from the cover 108 to modify the firmness and height of the entire or a portion of the body 102. The number of foam layers 112 within the horizontal arm 106 and vertical arm 104 may be adjusted independently to provide targeted support for different areas of the body. For instance, additional layers 112 may be inserted into the horizontal arm 106 to increase its height for users who require greater head elevation. Conversely, layers 112 may be removed to create a lower, more cushioned support surface. The adjustable layers 112 may also allow the vertical arm 104 to have firmer support near the upper torso while providing softer cushioning near the arms. This modular configuration allows users to fine-tune the support according to their sleep posture and comfort preferences. The layers 112 may be made of any same or differing material as the body 102 such as but not limited to a memory foam, a down, a down alternative, a cooling gel-infused foam, a natural fiber, or any combination thereof.

The vertical arm 104 of the body 102 may be available in different lengths to accommodate users with varying body sizes and preferences. In some embodiments, the vertical arm 104 may be shortened to create a more compact design suitable for users with smaller torsos or those who prefer a shorter bolster. Alternatively, the vertical arm 104 may be extended to provide full-length support along the upper body, which can be particularly beneficial for taller users or individuals who require broader upper body coverage. Similarly, the horizontal arm 106 may be offered in varying lengths to support users with wider shoulders or to provide a streamlined option for users who prefer minimal bulk. These variations in arm lengths ensure that the device 100 can accommodate a wide range of body types and sleeping styles.

To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the body 102 is enclosed in a removable, machine-washable cover 108. The cover 108 may be made from different materials, such as a moisture-wicking bamboo blend that draws moisture away from the body to keep the user dry or a cotton fabric. The cover 108 may be made of a hypoallergenic material in one embodiment. In some embodiments, the cover 108 may feature a quilted or textured finish for users who prefer additional sensory comfort. The cover 108 is equipped with a fastener 110, such as but not limited to a zipper, a magnet, a hook and loop fastener, buttons, etc. that runs along the edge of the cover 108 to allow for easy removal and replacement without compromising the appearance of the device 100. Said cover 108 may also be present on the layers 112.

As noted, the device 100 is particularly beneficial for users with specific support needs. Side sleepers who experience shoulder sensitivity benefit from the vertical arm 104, which cradles the arm and shoulder to prevent pressure buildup and reduce the risk of numbness or discomfort. Pregnant users benefit from the body 102's ability to support the abdomen while maintaining proper hip, lower back, and shoulder alignment. By positioning the vertical arm 104 between the legs, pregnant users can reduce pressure on the knees and hips, alleviating strain on the pelvis. Additionally, individuals recovering from surgery involving the neck, shoulder, or back benefit from the body 102's ability to maintain a neutral, supported sleeping position that aids in recovery.

By providing targeted support to key areas of the body, the configurable support pillow device 100 helps reduce restlessness and minimizes the need for users to adjust their position throughout the night. Proper alignment of the head, neck, spine, and limbs alleviates tension, resulting in deeper, more restorative sleep cycles. The ergonomic design of the device 100 also reduces the likelihood of waking with stiffness or discomfort, allowing users to wake up feeling refreshed and pain-free. Additionally, by offering a comprehensive support solution in a single structure, the device 100 eliminates the need for users to combine multiple pillows, simplifying their sleep setup and improving sleep quality.

The present invention is also comprised of a method of using 200 the configurable support pillow device 100, as seen in FIG. 4.
