Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is directed to a novelty attachment for a cap which includes a base member having an attachment means to the cap, a spring member attached to the base member, and a novelty item such as a small toy racing car or small toy football helmet attached to the top of the spring member.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Novelty items such as key chains, hats, pins, stickers, and other items that can be attached to a person's body or clothing are extremely popular, especially in the field of sporting competitions. In fact, novelty items promoting favorite sports and sport teams have been sold for decades and are meant to be visible to those seeing the wearer or carrier of the novelty items so that the wearer or carrier will be known to others as a fan or supporter of a particular sport or team. Moreover, most wearers or carriers of novelty items believe that the more visible novelty items are the best novelty items to purchase and wear or carry.

Accordingly, there is a need for more visible novelty items, or attachments for such items, so that wearers or carriers of such items can more visibly promote their causes, passions, and/or preferences from sports and sports teams to favorite characters and figures.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is directed to a novelty item capable of being attached to a wearer's hat this is highly visible to those other than the wearer.

In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, the novelty attachment for a cap includes a base member having an attachment means to the cap, a spring member attached to the base member, and a novelty item attached to the top of the spring member. The novelty item attached to the top of the spring member may be removable and exchangeable and may comprise any form or type of item including, but not limited to, a miniature football helmet replicating a regular football helmet of a favorite team, a miniature racing car replicating an actual racing car of a favorite driver, a miniature figurine replicating a favorite character, a miniature ball replicating a standard ball of a favorite sport such as baseball, and the like.

The base member may have many attachment means for attaching it to a cap such as a notch element which is designed to surround a center outer button at the top of the cap, a clip member for attachment to any region of the cap including the bill of the cap, and any other means which would enable a spring member having a novelty item attached thereto, to be able to be attached to a cap.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EXEMPLARY DRAWINES

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exemplary spring containing cap attachment in accordance with the present invention showing the spring containing cap attachment having a miniature race car attached to the top of a baseball cap; and

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of another exemplary embodiment of the spring containing cap attachment of the present invention having a miniature football helmet.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXEMPLARY

Attached FIG. 1 shows the present invention which comprises a base member 10, a spring member 20 attached to the base member, and a novelty item 30, such as a racing car attached to a top of the spring member 20. Base member 10 is secured about the button located at the top of a baseball cap or similar type of hat. FIG. 2 shows another embodiment of the present invention which includes base member 10 having a notch 40 for attaching base member 10 to a cap or the like, a spring member 20 attached to the base 10, and a novelty item such as a toy football helmet 30 attached to a top of the spring member 20.

It will be understood by those skilled in the art of novelty items that the item attached to the top of the spring may comprise any shape, form or figure depending upon a wearer's passions and preferences and that such items may be configured to be removable from the top of the spring and exchangeable. It will also be understood by those skilled in the art that the base member may comprise many different attachment means for attaching it to a cap such as a notch element which is designed to surround a center outer button at the top of the cap (as shown in FIG. 1), a clip member for attachment to any region of the cap including the bill of the cap, and any other means which would enable a spring member having a novelty item attached thereto, to be able to be attached to a cap. The bottom of spring 20 may be secured to base member 10 by any known means that provides a secure and permanent attachment such as glue, soldering, or the like.

Although the foregoing description sets forth preferred exemplary embodiments and methods of operation of the invention, the scope of the invention is not limited these specific embodiments or described methods of operation. Many details have been disclosed that are not necessary to practice the invention, but have been included to sufficiently disclose the best mode of operation and manner and process of making and using the invention.
