Description

BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to fuel treatment, and more particularly to a fuel additive, which is adapted to mix with petroleum fuel, such as gasoline or diesel, for not only increasing the octane rating of the fuel to improve the performance thereof but also enhancing the efficiency of combustion and fuel economy to reduce the harmful material from the exhaust gas so as to minimize the air pollution from the fuel.

2. Description of Related Arts

Nowadays, the demand of transportation vehicles, such as cars, ships, or tractors, is extremely strong for those countries having a rapidly economic growth. Generally speaking, such vehicles are most fueled by gasoline or diesel. However, the shortage of crude is one of the major factors to set the “record” oil price. In addition, the condition of the vehicle is gradually poor over a period of continued use. The vehicle will consume more fuel and produce air pollution from the exhaust gas. It is always necessitated to improve the combustion efficiency of fuel and reduce the pollution from the exhaust gas.

SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

A main object of the present invention is to provide a fuel additive, which is adapted to mix with petroleum fuel, such as gasoline or diesel, for increasing the octane rating of the fuel to improve the performance thereof while being cost effective. In addition, the fuel additive is adapted to enhance the efficiency of combustion and fuel economy for reducing the harmful material from the exhaust gas so as to minimize the air pollution from the fuel.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a fuel additive, which is adapted to break down the reactive bond of the fuel such that the carbon chains of the fuel can fully contact with oxygen molecule for complete combustion.

Accordingly, in order to accomplish the above objects, the present invention provides a fuel additive for mixing with a fuel, comprising: nonyl phenol having a ratio of 4-16% by weight, aliphatic amide having a ratio of 2-14% by weight, alkaline metallic petroleum sulfonate having a ratio of 1-10% by weight, propolis (or beeswax) having a ratio of 10-90% by weight, a stabilizer having a ratio of 1-10% by weight, and combustion booster having a ratio 1-30% by weight.

According to the preferred embodiment, the stabilizer comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of OP, Tween, Span, and the combination of OP, Tween and Span. The aliphatic amide comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of succinyl imine, polyene amide, and the combination of succinyl imine and polyene amide. The combustion booster comprises the compound selected from the group consisting of naphthene acidic salt, 5-carbonyl based iron, and the combination of naphthene acidic salt and 5-carbonyl based iron.

After mixing the fuel additive with fuel, the present invention is adapted to improve the gas mileage and to purify the exhaust gas so as to enhance the efficiency of combustion. In addition, the horsepower and torque of the vehicle can be obviously increased when the fuel additive of the present invention is mixed with the fuel in the vehicle.

In addition, the fuel additive of the present invention is adapted to keep the fuel system of the vehicle, such as engine and carburetor, clean especially when the driver keeps mixing the fuel additive with the fuel over a period of continued use. In other words, the fuel system of the vehicle is continuously cleaned up during normal operation through the flow of fuel so as to prolong the maintenance time of the vehicle. Furthermore, the fuel additive can lubricate the fuel system to prevent the metal surface from being rusted and to prevent the mechanical parts from attrition. As a result, the fuel additive of the present invention is adapted for enhancing the efficiency of combustion and for reducing the harmful material from the exhaust gas.

These and other objectives, features, and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description and the appended claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

The present invention provides a fuel additive, which is adapted for mixing with a fuel such as gasoline or diesel, comprising nonyl phenol having a ratio of 4-16% by weight, aliphatic amide having a ratio of 2-14% by weight, alkaline metallic petroleum sulfonate having a ratio of 1-10% by weight, propolis (or beeswax) having a ratio of 10-90% by weight, a stabilizer having a ratio of 1-10% by weight, and combustion booster having a ratio 1-30% by weight.

For the best illustration of the fuel additive, the present invention provides an example of manufacturing the fuel additive. The fuel additive includes the compositions of 6 kilograms of nonyl phenol, 4 kilograms of succinyl imine, 9 kilograms of alkaline metallic petroleum sulfonate calcium, 15 kilograms of combination of naphthene acidic iron and 5-carbonyl based iron, 1 kilogram of Span-80, and 75 kilograms of propolis.

The process of manufacturing the fuel additive of the present invention comprises the following steps.

(1) Add all the above mentioned compositions into a reactor.

(2) Heat up and stir the compositions at the same time until all the compositions are well mixed with each other.

(3) Stop heat up the compositions when all the compositions are dissolved.

(4) Keep stirring the compositions for a period of time, i.e. one hour, while the compositions are cooled down at room temperature. Then, the fuel additive is packed for storage.

Accordingly, when 6 grams of fuel additive is mixed with the 50 liters gasoline for a “Ford” 3.0 liter sedan, the gasoline consumption can be saved at least 13% in comparison with the gasoline without adding the fuel additive.

Another application of using the fuel additive of the present invention is that when 3 grams of fuel additive is added into 20 liter diesel fuel for a diesel vehicle, the diesel consumption can be saved at least 15% in comparison with the diesel fuel without adding the fuel additive. Under the Diesel Oil Engine Bench Performance testing, the vehicle fueled with the fuel additive and fuel with the ratio of 1:4000 by weight can save at least 1.5% in comparison with the vehicle fueled only with the fuel.

One skilled in the art will understand that the embodiment of the present invention as described above is exemplary only and not intended to be limiting.

It will thus be seen that the objects of the present invention have been fully and effectively accomplished. It embodiments have been shown and described for the purposes of illustrating the functional and structural principles of the present invention and is subject to change without departure from such principles. Therefore, this invention includes all modifications encompassed within the spirit and scope of the following claims.
