Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates generally to the field of exercise equipment, and more particularly to a set of color-coded yoga loops.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Stretching before activity has long been known to reduce injury. Yoga, in particular, is known to reduce injuries, promote good health, and tone muscles when practiced regularly. A typical yoga belt is of woven cotton canvas, 1.5 inches wide, 6, 8, or 10 feet in length, with 2 D-rings held at one end by a loop of the canvas. For learners and practitioners, loops are used to learn and/or facilitate various positions. One type of loop used is a strap with loops on both ends. A single loop is known, but a loop that is the right length for one person is not usually the right length for another person, with the variety of sizes and shapes of people differing greatly, as well as the level of experience and/or flexibility.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Briefly stated, a set of seven yoga loops increase in length from 20 inches to 68 inches in eight inch increments, with the longest loop being colored red, the next loop being orange, the next loop being yellow, the next loop being green, the next loop being blue, the next loop being indigo, and the shortest loop being violet.

According to an embodiment of the invention, a set of yoga loops includes a first loop; a second loop; a third loop; a fourth loop; a fifth loop; a sixth loop; and a seventh loop; wherein each loop is a different length.

According an embodiment of the invention, a method of manufacturing a set of yoga loops includes the step of forming seven yoga loops, wherein each yoga loop is a different length.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The FIGURE shows a set of yoga loops according to an embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to the FIGURE, a set of yoga loops 5 includes a yoga loop 10 which is preferably 20″ long, a yoga loop 20 which is preferably 28″ long, a yoga loop 30 which is preferably 36″ long, a yoga loop 40 which is preferably 44″ long, a yoga loop 50 which is preferably 52″ long, a yoga loop 60 which is preferably 60″ long, and a yoga loop 70 which is preferably 68″ long. Yoga loop 20 is preferably 8″ longer than yoga loop 10, yoga loop 30 is preferably 8″ longer than yoga loop 20, and so on. Set of yoga loops 5 preferably includes seven loops, with each larger loop being a specified longer length than the next smaller loop. Experimentation has shown that 8″ length difference between successive loops is optimal in order to have a set of seven yoga loops; otherwise, the smallest loop is too small with the longest loop is too long or else the differences between loops is not sufficient to make any practical difference to the yoga practitioner. Other length differences are possible, for instance, but should generally be in the range from 6 inches to 10 inches. A constant length difference is preferred for practicality and uniformity.

In addition, yoga loop 70 is preferably red, yoga loop 60 is preferably orange, yoga loop 50 is preferably yellow, yoga loop 40 is preferably green, yoga loop 30 is preferably blue, yoga loop 20 is preferably indigo, and yoga loop 10 is preferably violet. These colors are the colors of the rainbow, which are traditionally used in yoga to signify stages of progress, with violet or purple being indicative of the most proficient yoga stage. For this reason, the color progression runs from red for the longest loop, which is most likely to be used by beginners, to violet for the shortest loop, which is most likely to be used by advanced practitioners.

Each loop is preferably of woven cotton canvas between 1.0 and 1.25 inches wide, although other fabrics can be used.

Table 1 shows the various preferred lengths (in inches) and colors of the loops by reference number.

TABLE 1
Reference Loop length
number Loop color (inches)
10 Violet 20
20 Indigo 28
30 Blue 36
40 Green 44
50 Yellow 52
60 Orange 60
70 Red 68

While the present invention has been described with reference to a particular preferred embodiment and the accompanying drawings, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the invention is not limited to the preferred embodiment and that various modifications and the like could be made thereto without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
