1) Field of the Invention
The invention relates to confection holders.
2) Discussion of the Related Art
Frank Epperson developed the Popsicle™ when he left his fruit flavored soda outside on the porch with a stir stick in it. The drink froze to the stick and tasted good. It took 18 more years, and in 1923, Epperson applied for a patent on a “frozen ice on a stick” called the “Epsicle” ice pop, which his children re-named the Popsicle™.
There have been many advances in confection holders since Frank Epperson invented the Popsicle™. Inventions have advanced in areas including; the prevention of confection dripping, including the ability to insert Popsicle™ sticks into a holder and providing holders for ice cream confections with or without cones.
Disadvantages of previous confection holders are their inability to take advantage of positioning to support a confection for children. Confections are large. Some are six to twelve inches in length or larger, making current confection holder handling unwieldy for children. Moreover, children comprise the majority of confection consumers, yet current confection holders have not captured their interests.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSThe invention is described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a confection support holder.
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of the confection support holder.
FIG. 3 is a top view of the confection support holder.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTIONFIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings illustrates components of a confection support holder 2, according to an embodiment of the invention, which includes a support chamber 4, adapted to fit at least one finger, a outer support cover 6, contacting a confection 18, a reservoir 20, including a plurality of ridge members 22, a resilient insulation cover 24 and a plurality of protrusion members 30.
FIGS. 2 and 3 illustrate the components of the confection support holder 2 in more detail. Said support cover 6 includes a first cover side 8, a second cover side 10, a top cover portion 12, a bottom cover portion 14 and a body cover portion 16. Said plurality of protruding members 30 contact said first cover side 8, said bottom cover portion, sealed to said reservoir 20. Said resilient insulation cover 24, includes a first resilient insulation side 26, contacting said second cover side 10, and a second resilient insulation side 28 contacting said support chamber 4, finger, upon insertion.
In use, a consumer inserts at least one finger into the support chamber 4, said support chamber 4 contacting said second cover side 10, said first cover side 8, contacting and supporting said confection 18, said bottom cover portion 14 sealed to said reservoir 20, said reservoir 20 protecting the consumer from a dripping of the confection 18. In an embodiment, said top cover portion 12, said bottom cover portion 14 and said body cover portion 16, at a first, a second and a third diameter, respectively, are. substantially similar, as said confection holder 2, can encompass a variety of shapes and sizes. In another embodiment, said reservoir 20 includes a plurality of ridge members 22, aiding consumer in insertion of at least one finger into the support chamber 4.
In an embodiment of the invention, said confection support holder 2 includes said resilient insulation cover 24, supporting said consumer and controlling temperature. The consumer inserts at least one finger into said support chamber 4, contacting said second resilient insulation side 28, said first resilient insulation side 26 contacting said second cover side 10. The resilient insulation cover 24, contracting, secures said at least one finger within said confection support holder 2.
In another embodiment of the invention, said resilient insulation cover 24 is continuous with said outer support cover 6 and support chamber 4, providing maximum support to said at least one finger. In another embodiment, a width of said resilient insulation cover 24 is substantially similar to a width of said outer support cover 6, said reservoir 20 and said support chamber 4, providing temperature stability, protecting confection 18 from heat of said at least one finger, increasing longevity of said confection 18, and protecting said consumer from cold temperatures in cases of holding said confection 18, that is formed of ice.
The confection support holder 2, in an embodiment, includes said plurality of protruding members 30, contacting said first cover side 8 of said outer support cover 6 and said confection 18, providing support and stability to said confection 18. In another embodiment, said plurality of protruding members 30 are square-shaped. In another embodiment, said plurality of protruding members 30 are staggered. In another embodiment, a width of said plurality of protruding members is substantially similar to said outer support layer.
An advantage of the confection support holder is the structure. The outer support cover 6 and said resilient insulation 24 accommodates small appendages of a child, allowing the child to maintain control of any sized confection 18, in a position that is most comfortable. The resilient insulation cover 24 also provides temperature control, maintaining a comfortable environment throughout the duration of consuming the confection 18, by reducing the amount of heat transfer to the confection 18 and the amount of cold to said inserted at least one finger inside the support chamber 4.
Another advantage of said confection support holder 2 is its ability to maintain the integrity of said confection 18. The plurality of protrusions 30, contacting said first cover side 8 of the outer support cover 6 and confection 18, provide support to said confection 18 by allowing the confection to adhere to multiple shapes and arrangements, increasing the longevity of said confection 18. The plurality of protruding members 30 can be square-shaped and/or staggered, or at a width similar to said outer support layer, maximizing the stability of confection 18.
While certain exemplary embodiments have been described and shown in the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that such embodiments are merely illustrative and not restrictive of the current invention, and that this invention is not restricted to the specific constructions and arrangements shown and described since modification may occur to those ordinarily skilled in the art.
