The present application claims priority to provisional application Ser. No. 60/818,973, filed Jul. 7, 2006, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference.
The present invention relates to an article for being worn on a finger including indicia, such as a sports team or logo.
Finger sleeves have been provided to treat ailments, such as disclosed by U.S. Pat. No. 7,012,169. However, those devices have not been provided with indicia for marketing or advertising or to promote spirit.
A more complete appreciation of the invention and many of the attendant advantages thereof will be readily obtained as the same becomes better understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an article according to the present invention, showing the article worn on a finger; and
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the article illustrated in FIG. 1, showing indicia on the article.
Referring to FIGS. 1-2, the article or apparel 10 of the present invention is configured to be worn on a finger. Multiple articles can be provided to be worn on multiple fingers, respectively. The article 10 includes a sleeve 12. The sleeve 12 may include an open end 14 providing access to an inner finger receiving bore 16, Opposite the open end 14 of the sleeve 12 is a closed end 18. In an alternative embodiment, the closed end 18 of the sleeve 12 may be open so that the finger extends through the end of the sleeve.
As seen in FIG. 2, the sleeve 12 defines an outer surface 20. At least a portion of the outer surface 20 preferably includes indicia 22. Alternatively, the indicia 22 may cover substantially the entire outer surface 20. The indicia 22 can be any text or graphic, such as a sports team name or logo or a company name or logo, including different colors. The indicia 22 may be formed with the sleeve 12, or applied to the sleeve 12 in any known manner, such as ink printing, or etching. Alternatively, the indicia 22 can be formed separately and attached to the sleeve in any known manner, such as adhesive.
The sleeve 12 is shaped to conform to a finger and is preferably made of crocheted fabric, such as cotton or wool, and the indicia 22 is crocheted integral to the article 10. However, the sleeve 12 may be made of other known materials, such as plastic. Alternatively, the sleeve 12 may be formed of more than one different materials. In use, the user inserts their finger into the inner bore 16 of the sleeve 12 to display the indicia 22. The sleeve 12 may be removable from the finger.
Further to preferred embodiments, the article is used at business or social events, such as at universities, schools, booster clubs, authentic organizations, alumni associations, professional sports teams, and the like, as promotion, advertisement, or spirit.
While a particular embodiment has been chosen to illustrate the invention, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications can be made therein without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
1. An article for being worn on a finger, comprising of:
a sleeve configured to conform to a finger, the sleeve including opposite open and closed ends with an inner receiving bore extending therebetween, and an outer display surface; and
indicia disposed at the outer display surface.
2. An article according to claim 1, wherein
the sleeve is formed of fabric.
3. An article according to claim 1, wherein
the sleeve is removable from the finger.
4. An article according to claim 1, wherein
the sleeve is disposed on a portion of the outer display surface.
5. Apparel for being worn on a finger, comprising of:
a fabric sleeve configured to conform to a finger, the sleeve including opposite open and closed ends with an inner receiving bore extending therebetween, and an outer display surface, the sleeve being removable from the finger; and
indicia disposed on the outer display surface.
