Booster bench

Description

This is a Child Booster Seat that nest inside of one another until needed. When facing the seat the top seat pulls to the right and snaps into position, thus making it a 2 booster seat bench. If needed a 3^rd seat pulls from under the middle to the left and snaps into position making a 3 booster seat bench. Used in the Abstract

The purpose of this seat is to allow a person to store the extra seats when not being used. I am a mother of 2 children and 1 nephew that are all required to be in a booster seats. When extended I will have 1 long bench across my back seat for all 3 children. When I am car pooling to work I can slide both sides in and move the nested seats aside and they will take up much less room. This will also be great for child care providers. Used in the Claim

There is cup holders towards the front but between each seat, this will leave an open area at the back between each seat for easy seat belt fastening.

How to use (Front View): The top seat will slide to the right, the cup holders will line up and the seat will snap down into place. If the 3^rd seat is needed, before snapping the seat into place, pull the seat from the bottom to the left. The right seat will then snap down into place and the left seat will snap up into place. There are 2 buttons located on the back of the center seat to release before sliding back into single seat position. Used on the Drawing Page

How to use (Front View): The top seat will slide to the right, the cup holders will line up and the seat will snap down into place. If the 3^rd seat is needed, before snapping the seat into place, pull the seat from the bottom to the left. The right seat will then snap down into place and the left seat will snap up into place. There are 2 buttons located on the back of the center seat to release before sliding back into single seat position.

The wheel rolls along a track to pull out, once snapped up or down the wheel locks into place until the buttons are pushed to release and nest the seats.

SPECIFICATIONS

FIG. 1:

• • 1 When nested inside of each other 3 booster seats become 1 seat to use or store. The frame is constructed from a hard plastic, like the material that is used in most other car seats. The 3^rd seat (top seat) is slightly larger in size than seat 2 in order to nest properly (dimensions on last page).
  • 2 Padded cloth covering for comfort.
  • 3 Slide wall (explained in later figure).
  • 4 Cup holder cut outs.
  • 5 Slot to attach 2^nd seat together.
  • 6 Latch to secure seats that are not in use together.

FIG. 2:

• • 7 Back of seat shows the slide wall made from the same thin hard plastic as the seats. The bottom of slide walls on seats 2 & 3 will have an upside down T which will slide in the track on the back.

FIG. 3:

• • 8 This is the Slide Wall in the back of seat 1 (base seat). There is a track for seat 2 slide wall (FIG. 9) T to slide out to extend into a 2 seat bench. There is a solid piece at the end of the second T to prevent over sliding.
  • 9 This is the Slide Wall in the back of seat 2. There is a track in the slide wall of seat 2 for seat 3 slide wall (FIG. 10) T to slide out to extend into a 3 seat bench. There is a solid piece at the end of the third T to prevent over sliding.
  • 10 This is the Slide Wall in the back of seat 3.
  • 11 The figure shown is larger that actual size. The slide tracks will take up less than 1 inch of space.
  • 12 Hinges on the top of slide walls of seats 2 & 3 allows the front of each nested seat to be lifted to slide each seat to extend into the bench.

FIG. 4:

• • 13 This latch squeezes together to release and pull out allowing the seats to pull apart for sliding. If only a two seat bench is needed you slide the latch back through seat 3 into seat 2 to secure the remaining two seats nested together.
  • 14 This is a flexible attachment from the latch to the bottom seam of the material covering. This will allow the latch to stay attached if dropped.
  • 15 This slot beside the cup holder is there to slide the side of the extended seat into to attach the fronts of the seats together.

FIG. 5:

• • 16 When a second seat is needed, squeeze together and pull out the latch on the front of seat 3 to release base unit.
  • 17 Lift 2^nd & 3^rd seat from the front up into the air. Hinge on the underside at the back of the unit will hold into place.
  • 18 Slide along the T slide until fully extended.
  • 19 Lower the seat by the front sliding the left side into the slot allowed beside the cup holder.

FIG. 6:

• • 20 When a third seat is needed, squeeze together and pull out the latch on the front of seat 3 to release the 3^rd seat (top seat) from the 2^nd seat (middle seat).
  • 21 Lift the 3^rd seat from the front up into the air. Hinge on the underside at the back of the unit will hold into place.
  • 22 Slide along the T slide until fully extended.
  • 23 Lower the seat by the front sliding the left side into the slot allowed beside the cup holder.

FIG. 7:

• • 24 This shows all 3 seats fully extended from the top view.
  • 25 The T slide track will fit snuggly across the back seat of the car.
  • 26 Large cut out areas behind the cup holder area allow plenty of room for accessing the seat belt area.
  • 27 Base unit dimensions: 14″ wide at back, 20″ wide at the front, 16″ deep, 4″ tall at front and fade to 3½″ tall at the back.
  • 28 The 2^nd seat dimensions: 14½″ wide at back, 20½″ wide at the front, 17″ deep, 4½″ tall at front and fade to 4″ tall at the back.
  • 29 The 3^rd seat dimensions: 15″ wide at back, 21″ wide at the front, 18″ deep, 5″ tall at front and fade to 4½″ tall at the back.

FIG. 8:

• • 30 This picture shows the slots on both sides of each seat in the back where the cut outs are for the seat belt area. The seat belts will slide into the slots to help secure the seats and belts into place.
