BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to footwear and in particular to improvements to footwear in the form of a sandal and having a collapsible construction. This invention relates to footwear which can be rolled or folded and stored in a small container.

When a person wears uncomfortable shoes, he or she may want to change into a more comfortable pair of footwear. However, carrying a second pair of shoes is often inconvenient if not impossible due to the rigid construction and physical size of footwear.

This new invention makes footwear more versatile and portable by being able to significantly reduce its size. The reduced size of the footwear facilitates storage in small containers. This allows a person to conveniently carry a spare pair of footwear in their handbag or pocket.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is a collapsible footwear consisting of a sole and an upper formed from flexible materials. The footwear is rolled, folded or collapsed onto itself to reduce the volume of the footwear. The footwear in its collapsed state can then be packaged in a container. The present invention provides for convenient storage and portability of footwear which may embody a variety of different styles, sizes, etc.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

With reference to the drawing in detail, the present footwear invention comprises of a sole 1 which is formed of a thin material possessed of flexibility such as rubber or ethylene vinyl acetate. The continuous strap 2 is fabricated of a resilient material such as satin.

A continuous strap 2 extends from a point 3 close to the inner side edge near the arch area to a point 5 between the first and second toe and is affixed to the sole 1 at both points 3 and 5. The strap 2 then extends to a second point 4 close to the outer side edge near the mid section of the sole 1 where it is affixed to the sole 1. Preferably the ends of the strap are secured by glue, stitches or other affixation technique.

While only a preferred form of the invention is shown, other embodiments of the invention are contemplated and numerous changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the claims stated.
