This invention relates to clipboards which can be hung from and/or mounted to various surfaces. In a preferred embodiment, the clipboard is characterized by a flat plate provided with 3 or more top flanges for engaging various surfaces. A spring loaded center clip is attached to the front upper center portion of the flat plate for clipping various items such as writing paper, tablets, paper sheets, note pads, maps and the like, to the clipboard. The clipboard is designed to be shaped from a single piece of metal or molded in one piece from a plastic material for quick and easy attachment to, and removal from, various surfaces without the necessity of using intricate and complicated attachment mechanisms.
Certain vocations require the use of clipboards in areas where there is no convenient location to place a clipboard. For example Land Surveyors frequently require the use of clipboards while outdoors in order to make and view notations, including field notes and sketches, relating to Land Surveying operations. It is often necessary to make and view such notations while using a transit or level mounted atop a tripod, which this clipboard could be hung from, and the use of conventional clipboards for this purpose is not possible since conventional clipboards do not have flanges which can be used to hang the clipboard from a transit tripod.
The invention will be better understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the clipboard of this invention.
FIG. 2 is a perspective rear view of said Hangable Clipboard.
FIG. 3 is a side view of said Hangable Clipboard.
1. A clipboard for hanging from or mounting to various surfaces, comprising a substantially flat support plate and a generally V-shaped top engaging means comprising 3 or more rearwardly extending flanges disposed approximately 35 degrees from rear of said support plate, said top engaging means terminating approximately 1.5 inches from top of said support plate, and said flanges are used for hanging and/or mounting purposes as well as to stabilize the clipboard while on flat surfaces. 2.) The clipboard of claim 1 wherein said at least one clip means further comprises a spring-loaded center clip fixedly mounted on the upper center of said support plate.
