A skirting board used indoors to cover an expansion gap formed between the floor and wall area.
From the description of the Polish Patent Application No. P372684 is known a structure of a skirting board made as one closed profile or manufactured of several elements being connected with the help of flexible joints and snap fasteners. The skirting board is made of plastics material.
The Polish Patent Application No. P364311 presents a structure of a skirting board which comprises a body and a masking strip, connected with each other by means of a snap fastener consisting of a cavity and a snap fastener which is placed in the half-height of a skirting board.
An aspect of the present disclosure is a skirting board, used indoors to cover an expansion gap formed between the floor and wall area, comprising two longitudinal profile elements forming an open spacial element.
The gist of the present invention consists therein that the inner profile element being fixed onto the wall and the outer profile element are temporary fastened along the surface meeting the floor plane with the help of a click joint. Advantageously, the inner profile element shows a shape of an angle section, and its downwardly swept base is provided with a V-shaped end being bended downwardly and forming a catch of a click joint, while the outer profile element shows a profiled upright arm, the base of which is provided with an upwardly pointed projection.
The present disclosure is presented by way of embodiments, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is an end view of the skirting board;
FIG. 2 is an end view of the outer profile element; and
FIG. 3 is an end view of the inner profile element.
As it is evident from FIG. 1, the structure of the skirting board in accordance with the present disclosure is provided with two profile elements 1 and 2. The inner profile element 1 is shaped as an angle section, the shape of which is similar to the L-shape and the element itself is immovable fixed along the upright arm 3 by means of pins or other joint elements onto the wall of a room, which has not been shown in the drawing. The horizontal arm being slightly swept downwards and constituting the base 4, the end portion of which is gently bended downwards, and subsequently upwards, forms a V-shaped end portion which constitutes a catch 5 of the click joint 6. The deflection of the base 4 while fitting is a cause for which it has an effect of a springing element and that makes assembling of the skirting board easier.
The outer profile element 2 has a form of a two-armed section, wherein the upright arm 7 is accordingly profiled and forms the masking element of the skirting, while its base 8 meeting the floor area has a function of a fixing element of the skirting board. The base 8 shows an upright bulging 9 which extends upwards and the shape of which fits the catch 5 forming a resistance element of the click joint 6.
While fitting the skirting board the inner profile element 1 is immovable fixed onto the wall of the room at the very beginning, wherein its base 4 should be placed in a certain distance from the surface of the floor. Afterwards the base 8 of the outer profile element 2 is crosswise inserted under the surface of the base 4, until the click joint 6 is formed. It is also possible to fix the outer profile by means of bonding the base to the surface of the floor.
1. A skirting board, comprising two longitudinal profile elements forming an open spacial profile, including an inner profile element and an outer profile element, the inner profile element being fixed onto the wall and the outer profile element being temporary connected along the surface meeting the floor plane by means of a click joint.
2. A skirting board as claimed in claim 1, wherein the inner profile element is shaped as an angle section and its base is deflected downwards and comprises a V-shaped end portion being bended downwards and forming a catch of the click joint.
3. A skirting board as claimed in claim 1, wherein the outer profile element comprises an upright profiled arm, and its base comprises an upwards pointed projection.
