This application claims the benefit of U.S. provisional patent application No. 61/318,325, filed Mar. 28, 2010, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
The present invention relates to cases for cosmetics and, more particularly, to a case for cosmetics having an ornate mirror built into the case.
Currently, a separate mirror has to be carried by the person who wears lipstick. If they don't have a mirror, they have to go somewhere that does have a mirror, such as a bathroom.
As can be seen, there is a need for a cosmetic case, such as a lipstick case, having an ornate mirror disposed on at least one surface thereof.
In one aspect of the present invention, a cosmetic case holding a cosmetic comprises a cover adapted to encase the cosmetic in the cosmetic case; a mirror disposed on at least one surface of the cover; and ornamentation disposed about a periphery of the mirror.
In another aspect of the present invention, a lipstick case comprises a cover adapted to cover lipstick held by the lipstick case; a mirror disposed on the end of the cover; and ornamentation secured about a periphery of the mirror.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a cosmetic case according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a side view of the cosmetic case of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a top view of the cosmetic case of FIG. 1.
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
Various inventive features are described below that can each be used independently of one another or in combination with other features.
Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a cosmetic case, such as a lipstick case, having an ornate mirror disposed on at least one surface thereof. In some embodiments, the mirror may be disposed on at least one surface of a cosmetic case cover, thereby allowing simultaneous viewing of oneself while applying the cosmetic. The mirror may include ornamentation around a periphery thereof. The ornamentation may not only provide an ornate design, but may also protect the edges of the mirror to provide a finished look to the cosmetic case.
Referring to FIGS. 1 through 3, a cosmetic case 10, such as a case for lipstick, lip gloss, mascara, or the like, may include a mirror 12 on at least one surface thereof. In some embodiments, the mirror 12 may be placed on a cover 14 of a cosmetic disposed in the cosmetic case 10. For example, a lipstick may be held in the cosmetic case 10. The lipstick cover 14 may be removable to expose the lipstick. The mirror 12 may be disposed on the lipstick cover 14. The mirror 12 may be disposed on at least one surface of the cosmetic case 10, such as on an end of the cosmetic case 10, as shown in FIGS. 1 through 3. In some embodiments, the mirror 12 may be disposed on at least one side of the cosmetic case 10. When the mirror 12 is placed on the end of the cover 14 of the cosmetic case 10, the length and width of the mirror may not be more than the length and width of the end of the cover 14. When the mirror 12 is plated on the side of the cover 14 of the cosmetic case 10, the length and width of the mirror 12 may not be more that the length and width of the side of the cover 14.
In some embodiments, the mirror 12 may be a regular, standard reflection mirror, which will show the lips only or the area of the face being focused on (for example, the eyes when the cosmetic is mascara). In some embodiments, the mirror 12 may be a magnified mirror which would show the area around the lips, possibly the entire face.
Ornamentation 16 may be disposed about the periphery of the mirror 12. The ornamentation 16 may be, for example, beads, tubing, solid rounded material, molding, or the like. The ornamentation 16 may protect the edges of the mirror as well as provide an ornate design to the cosmetic case 10. The ornamentation 16 may be secured to the periphery of the mirror 12 by, for example, an adhesive, such as glue. In some embodiments, when the ornamentation 16 includes beads, a stringing material (not shown) may be fed through the beads to help secure the beads as a single piece to be secured to the periphery of the mirror 12. The ornamentation 16 may be made from conventional materials, such as plastic, metal, glass, gems, stones and the like.
The cover 14 may be further decorated with items such as logos, charms, lettering, and the like. These further decorations may be disposed on a surface of the cover 14 having the mirror 12 or on a surface of the cover 14 without the mirror 12.
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
