This invention relates to the field of in ear headphones or earphones.
Listening to music through headphones has become more and more common with the invention of MP3 players and smartphones. In ear headphones are a more compact, convenient, comfortable version of the over ear headphone design. The one drawback of the in ear design is that they frequently fall out of the user's ears. This is very common while involved in activity such as working out at the gym, where sweat may gather in the ear of the listener causing the earphones to fall out. The invention described will catch the ear buds when they fall or they may be used to hold the earphones when the listener removes them.
There are numerous headphones on the market designed to overcome the problem by forcing the earphones to stay in the ear, though they tend to be bulky and uncomfortable. The invention will keep the ear buds from falling on the ground without sacrificing comfort, convenience or aesthetics.
The present invention is a necklace comprising a cord of any material fastened in any method and a clasp or clasps attached to or built into the necklace cord. The clasp or clasps are designed to enclose the headphone cord while the headphones are in use. The clasps or clasps opening is smaller than the ear buds or earphones and will catch them if they fall out or are taken out of the user's ears. The invention is an earphone accessory and does not include an earphone.
This will protect the user's earphones from dirt and bacteria. The user will not have to clean or replace the headphones as often, saving time and money.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the present invention: a necklace designed to prevent ear buds/earphones from falling to the ground by catching and suspending them at the neck level.
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the present invention, an earphone catching necklace, put on the body of a user.
The embodiment of the present invention will be described hereunder with reference to FIG. 1 to FIG. 2.
Referring to FIG. 1 the earphone accessory is an earphone catching necklace generally indicated with a reference 1 and designed to catch and protect earphones in the event that they fall from the listener's ears. The earphone catching necklace unit 1 has provided on the necklace cord a large clasp (1) which encloses the cord of the earphones. The clasp (1) opening is smaller than the actual ear bud and will therefore catch the ear bud, if it falls, keeping it from falling to the ground. Though the large clasp (1) in FIG. 1 is a quantity of 1 lobster clasp, the clasp may be of any size, quantity, or style. The necklace cord (2) pictured in FIG. 1 may also be made of any material. is used to enclose the necklace my clasping the jump ring (4). Both necklace connecting items may be of any material or style as well.
FIG. 2 demonstrates the present invention actively used as an accessory. The large clasp (6), previously referred to as (1) from FIG. 1, is engaged, clasping the earphone cords (8). The earphone cord moves freely through the clasp as there is enough room to do so. The necklace cord (7) is pictured around the user's neck and supports the large clasp. If the (in-ear) ear buds (9) should fall out of the user's ear or are taken out, the large clasp (6) will catch and suspend them. The device labeled (5) represents an mp3 player, CD player, radio or media playing device of any kind.
