The invention relates generally to exercise equipment, and in particular to a three-ring portable climbing device. For many parents, keeping their children active and involved in supervised physical activities can be challenging. Such sedentary diversions as video gaming, cable television and the Internet have monopolized the attention of children like never before, this is particularly true for millions of families residing in apartments, condominiums, and mobile homes, where yard space may be scarce or nonexistent, but sending the children to a playground away from the home may be less than desirable for various reasons. Children love to climb, and a climbing device which may be temporarily attached to a more permanent structure, and easily removed and stored when not in use, would be well received. Adults may also use it for exercise purposes. A three-ring portable climbing device, which may be attached to a pull-up bar, pole, or other permanent structure, but is easily transported and folds compactly, would resolve this problem.
Accordingly, the invention is directed to a three-ring portable climbing device. The device is comprised of three same-size rings, preferably six to eight inches in diameter, linked together with a rope which is preferably manufactured from eight strands of paracord. An extended length of rope is provided at the upper end, such that the user may tie it to a pull-up bar, vertical post, or similar permanent structure. Multiple devices may be linked together by tying the extended length of rope from one device to the lowermost ring of another device.

The foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory and are intended to provide further explanation of the invention.
The accompanying drawings are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated into and constitute a part of the specification. They illustrate two embodiments of the invention and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles of the invention.

Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to a multi-ring portable climbing device 10.
The first exemplary embodiment is comprised of three same-size rings 11, preferably six to eight inches in diameter, linked together with a rope 12 which is preferably manufactured from eight strands of paracord. More or fewer rings 11 are contemplated. The rings 11 of the first exemplary embodiment are slender, and are preferably manufactured from a rigid, durable material with substantial structural strength, such as steel or aluminum alloy. An extended length of rope 13 is provided at the upper end 13A extending above the top ring 11A, such that the user may tie it to an external structure 20 such as a pull-up bar, vertical post, or similar permanent structure. Multiple devices 10 may be linked together by tying the extended length of rope 13 from one device 10 to the lowermost ring 11B of another device 10.
The second exemplary embodiment is virtually identical in structure and function to the first exemplary embodiment, except that the rings 11 are broader, and may be manufactured from a lighter material with less structural strength, such as wood or high-impact plastic. Due to the lesser structural strength of the second exemplary embodiment, it may be restricted to use by children under a specified weight, such as 60 pounds.
To use the first or the second exemplary embodiment, the user ties the extended length of rope 13 to a pull-up bar, vertical pole, or similar permanent structure. The user or a child may then use the device 10 for climbing.
The rings 11 in the first exemplary embodiment are preferably manufactured from a rigid, durable material with substantial structural strength, such as steel or aluminum alloy. The rings 11 in the second exemplary embodiment are preferably manufactured from a rigid, durable material which is lightweight, such as wood or high-impact plastic. The rope 12 is preferably manufactured from a flexible, durable material with substantial strength, such as nylon paracord. Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.
While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is presently considered to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should, therefore, not be limited by the above described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.
1. A multi-ring portable climbing device, comprising: a plurality of rings; a rope; said rope linking together said plurality of rings in series; said rope including an extended length of rope at an upper end extending above a top ring; said extended length of rope being of sufficient length and configured to be tied to an external object.
2. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 1, wherein said plurality of rings are three in number.
3. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 1, wherein said plurality of rings are of the same size; said plurality of rings being slender and manufactured from a rigid durable material such as steel or aluminum alloy.
4. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 2, wherein said plurality of rings are of the same size; said plurality of rings being slender and manufactured from a rigid durable material such as steel or aluminum alloy.
5. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 3, wherein said plurality of rings are between six and eight inches in diameter.
6. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 4, wherein said plurality of rings are between six and eight inches in diameter.
7. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 1, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
8. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 2, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
9. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 3, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
10. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 4, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
11. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 5, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
12. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 6, wherein said rope is manufactured from eight strands of paracord.
13. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 1, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
14. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 2, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
15. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 3, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
16. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 4, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
17. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 5, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
18. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 6, wherein said external structure is a bottom ring of a second multi-ring portable climbing device such that multiple multi-ring portable climbing devices are linked together in series.
19. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 1, wherein said plurality of rings are of the same size; said plurality of rings being broad and manufactured from a light and durable material such as wood or high-impact plastic.
20. The multi-ring portable climbing device of claim 2, wherein said plurality of rings are of the same size; said plurality of rings being broad and manufactured from a light and durable material such as wood or high-impact plastic.
