Abstract:

The present invention is a porch swing that has a frame, a chair, and a plurality of cables. The frame has a plurality of legs, a plurality of supports, a plurality of connectors, and a plurality of holes. The chair has a plurality of arms, a plurality of back sides, a plurality of seat sides, and a plurality of pullout sides that allow the user to sit and rest their arms along the present invention. The plurality of cables has a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors that keep the chair suspended off the ground. The chair is secured to each of the plurality of cables. Each of the plurality of cables is adjustable in length that allows the distance between the chair and the ground to be adjustable so that it can be utilized by people of all heights.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a porch swing. More specifically the present invention is generally a porch swing with a contoured seat that resembled the natural posture of a human with an extendable foot rest.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The average person spends the vast majority of his or her time sitting. The sedentary lifestyles enabled from electronic convenience and similar technologies enable a user to be productive without physical exertion, thus focusing their energy on work and mental exertion. To this end, a variety of seats have been created. Several such seats use sturdy frames in various configurations to support different cushions. These frames often contour to the body, providing ergonomic support for the user and thus enhancing user comfort. However, such seats are often limited in their functionality and comfort options. The user’s legs may dangle uncomfortably below the seat, which places strain on the user’s knees. Even when a user’s feet contact the ground, the user may experience discomfort. Variation of knee and hip angles is essential to joint health and sitting in one position for extended periods of time can result in deterioration of protective ligaments and cartilage. This ultimately leads to knee pain and can even generate injuries if ignored. To this end, several seats with lifting leg supports have been invented. These seats provide relief from chronic knee pain, and by lifting the leg angle also remove strain from the hip area.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a porch swing that comprises a frame 1, a chair 2, and a plurality of cables 3 as seen in FIG. 1. The frame 1 comprises a plurality of legs 11, a plurality of supports 12, a plurality of connectors 13, and a plurality of holes 14. The chair 2 comprises a plurality of arms 21, a plurality of back sides 22, a plurality of seat sides 23, and a plurality of pullout sides 24. The plurality of cables 3 comprises a plurality of fasteners 31 and a plurality of chair connectors 32. The chair 2 is coupled to each of the plurality of cables 3. As a result, the chair 2 is suspended from the plurality of cables 3. Each of the plurality of cables 3 is coupled to the frame 1. Consequently, the plurality of cables 3 holds the chair 2 off the ground by connecting it to the frame 1. Each of the plurality of cables 3 is adjustable in length. Accordingly, the plurality of cables 3 changes the distance between the chair 2 and the ground below.

In reference to FIG. 2, the present invention is a porch swing that provides an ergonomically designed seat. The frame 1 is positioned around the chair 2. Thus, the frame 1 supports the chair 2. Each of the plurality of legs 11 traverses from the terminal end of the frame 1. So, each of the plurality of legs 11 provides support to the frame 1 at the bottom of the frame 1 in contact with the ground. The plurality of connectors 13 is externally connected to the plurality of legs 11. As a result, the plurality of connectors 13 secures the plurality of legs 11 together. The plurality of supports 12 is connected to the frame 1. Consequently, the plurality of supports 12 forms a triangle shape with the frame 1. The plurality of holes 14 is positioned along each of the plurality of supports 12. Accordingly, the plurality of holes 14 allows the plurality of cables 3 to be mounted to each of the plurality of supports 12.

In reference to FIG. 3, the present invention further comprises the plurality of arms 21 connected to the chair 2. Accordingly, the plurality of arms 21 provides arm support along the sides of the chair 2. Each of the plurality of arms 21 further comprises a plurality of cup holes 212, a plurality of cup holders 211, a plurality of arm supports 213, and a plurality of frame connectors 214. The plurality of cup holders 211 is terminally positioned along each of the plurality of arms 21. Thus, the plurality of cup holders 211 does not interfere with a human’s arm placement on the plurality of arms 21. The plurality of cup holders 211 is concentrically positioned within each of the plurality of cup holes 212. So, the plurality of cup holders 211 rests flush within each of the plurality of cup holes 212. The plurality of arm supports 213 is connected to each of the plurality of arms 21. As a result, the plurality of arm supports 213 provides a load bearing support to each of the plurality of arms 21. The plurality of frame connectors 214 is fastened to each of the plurality of arm supports 213. Consequently, the plurality of frame connectors 214 allows the plurality of cables 3 to be mounted to each of the plurality of arms 21.

The plurality of back sides 22 further comprises a plurality of back rungs 221 as seen in FIG. 4. The plurality of back sides 22 is perpendicularly positioned to each of the plurality of arms 21. Accordingly, the plurality of back sides 22 provides support for a human back. The plurality of back rungs 221 is perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of back sides 22. Consequently, the plurality of back rungs 221 provides support for a human back. The plurality of back rungs 221 is positioned along the plurality of back sides 22. As a result, the plurality of back rungs 221 follows the contour of the plurality of back sides 22. The plurality of seat sides 23 further comprises a plurality of seat rungs 231. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the plurality of seat rungs 231 are rectangular wood members with rectangular cross-sections. The plurality of seat sides 23 is perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms 21. Thus, the plurality of seat sides 23 creates a support for the legs of a human below the plurality of arms 21 as seen in FIG. 5. The plurality of seat rungs 231 is connected along the plurality seat sides. So, the plurality of seat rungs 231 provides a surface for a human to sit on that follows the curve of the plurality of seat sides 23. The plurality of seat rungs 231 is perpendicularly connected to each of the plurality seat sides 23. As a result, the plurality of seat rungs 231 extends from each of the plurality of seat sides 23 connecting each of the seat sides 231. The plurality of back sides 22 is positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides 23. Consequently, the plurality of back sides 22 matches the orientation of the plurality of seat sides 23.

In reference to FIG. 1, the present invention further comprises the plurality of cables 3 that is removably connected to the plurality of frame connectors 214. Accordingly, the plurality of cables 3 attaches and detaches easily from the chair 2 via each of the plurality of frame connectors 214. The plurality of cables 3 further comprises a plurality of fasteners 31 and a plurality of chair connectors 32. The plurality of fasteners 31 is terminally connected to the plurality of cables 3. Thus, the plurality of fasteners 31 is attached to the plurality of cables 3 at the top near the frame 1. The plurality of chair connectors 32 is terminally connected to the plurality of cables 3. So, the plurality of chair connectors 32 is attached to the plurality of cables 3 at the bottom near the chair 2. The plurality of fasteners 31 is positioned opposite the plurality of chair connectors 32. As a result, the plurality of fasteners 31 allows the chain to connect to the frame 1 while the plurality of chair connectors 32 allows the chain to connect to the chair 2. The plurality of pullout sides 24 further comprises a plurality of pullout rungs 241 and a pullout stopper 242. Each of the plurality of pullout rungs 241 are rectangular wood members with rectangular cross sections. The pullout stopper 242 is a wide wood rectangular shaped member. In reference to FIG. 6, the plurality of pullout sides 24 is positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides 23. Consequently, the plurality of pullout sides 24 is oriented in the same direction as the plurality of seat sides 23. The plurality of pullout rungs 241 is positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of pullout sides 24. Accordingly, the plurality of pullout rungs 241 forms a base for a human to place their lower legs along the plurality of pullout sides 24. The plurality of pullout rungs 241 is positioned along the plurality of pullout sides 24. Thus, the plurality of pullout rungs 241 follows the curve of the plurality of pullout sides 24. The pullout stopper 242 is terminally connected to each of the plurality of pullout sides 24. So, the pullout stopper 242 restricts the plurality of pullout sides 24 from moving too far underneath the chair 2. The pullout stopper 242 is positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of seat rungs 231. As a result, the pullout stopper 242 contacts the plurality of seat rungs 231 restricting motion backwards while the chair 2 is in the compact position.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A porch swing comprising:

a frame;

a chair:

a plurality of cables;

the frame comprising a plurality of legs, a plurality of supports, a plurality of connectors, and a plurality of holes;

the chair comprising a plurality of arms, a plurality of back sides, a plurality of seat sides, and a plurality of pullout sides;

the plurality of cables comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors;

the chair being coupled to each of the plurality of cables;

each of the plurality of cables being coupled to the frame; and

each of the plurality of cables being adjustable in length.

2. The porch swing as claimed in as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the frame being positioned around the chair;

each of the plurality of legs traversing from the terminal end of the frame; and

the plurality of connectors being externally connected to the plurality of legs.

3. The porch swing as claimed in claim 2, the plurality of supports being connected to the frame.

4. The porch swing as claimed in claim 3, the plurality of holes being positioned along each of the plurality of supports.

5. The porch swing as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the plurality of arms being connected to the chair; and

each of the plurality of arms further comprising a plurality of cup holes, a

plurality of cup holders, a plurality of arm supports, and a plurality of frame connectors.

6. The porch swing as claimed in claim 5, the plurality of cup holders being terminally positioned along each of the plurality of arms.

7. The porch swing as claimed in claim 6, the plurality of cup holders being concentrically positioned within each of the plurality of cup holes.

8. The porch swing as claimed in claim 5 comprising:

the plurality of arm supports being connected to each of the plurality of arms; and

the plurality of frame connectors being fastened to each of the plurality of arms.

9. The porch swing as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the plurality of back sides further comprising a plurality of back rungs; and

the plurality of back sides being perpendicularly positioned to each of the plurality of arms.

10. The porch swing as claimed in claim 9 comprising:

the plurality of back rungs being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of back sides; and

the plurality of back rungs being positioned along the plurality of back sides.

11. The porch swing as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the plurality of seat sides further comprising a plurality of seat rungs; and

the plurality of seat sides being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms.

12. The porch swing as claimed in claim 11 comprising:

the plurality of seat rungs being connected along the plurality seat sides; and

the plurality of seat rungs being perpendicularly connected to each of the plurality seat sides.

13. The porch swing as claimed in claim 12, the plurality of back sides being positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides.

14. The porch swing as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the plurality of cables cable being removably connected to each of the plurality of frame connectors; and

the plurality of cables further comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors.

15. The porch swing as claimed in claim 14 comprising:

the plurality of fasteners being terminally connected to the plurality of cables; and

the plurality of chair connectors being terminally connected to the plurality of cables.

16. The porch swing as claimed in claim 14, the plurality of fasteners being positioned opposite the plurality of chair connectors.

17. The porch swing as claimed in claim 1 comprising:

the plurality of pullout sides further comprising a plurality of pullout rungs and a pullout stopper;

the plurality of pullout sides being positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides;

the plurality of pullout rungs being positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of pullout sides;

the plurality of pullout rungs being positioned along the plurality of pullout sides;

the pullout stopper being terminally connected to each of the plurality of pullout sides; and

the pullout stopper being positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of seat rungs.

18. A porch swing comprising:

a frame;

a chair:

a plurality of cables;

the frame comprising a plurality of legs, a plurality of supports, a plurality of connectors, and a plurality of holes;

the chair comprising a plurality of arms, a plurality of back sides, a plurality of seat sides, and a plurality of pullout sides;

the plurality of cables comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors;

the chair being coupled to each of the plurality of cables;

each of the plurality of cables being coupled to the frame;

each of the plurality of cables being adjustable in length;

the frame being positioned around the chair;

each of the plurality of legs traversing from the terminal end of the frame;

the plurality of connectors being externally connected to each of the plurality of legs;

the plurality of supports being connected to the frame;

the plurality of holes being positioned along each of the plurality of supports;

the plurality of arms being connected to the chair;

the plurality of arms further comprising a plurality of cup holes, a plurality of cup holders, a plurality of arm supports, and a plurality of frame connectors;

the plurality of cup holders being terminally positioned along each of the plurality of arms;

the plurality of cup holders being concentrically positioned within each of the plurality of cup holes;

the plurality of arm supports being connected to the each of the plurality of arms; and

the plurality of frame connectors being fastened to the each of the plurality of arms.

19. The porch swing as claimed in claim 18 comprising:

the plurality of back sides further comprising a plurality of back rungs;

the plurality of back sides being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms;

the plurality of back rungs being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of back sides;

the plurality of back rungs being positioned along the plurality of back sides;

the plurality of seat sides further comprising a plurality of seat rungs;

the plurality of seat sides being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms;

the plurality of seat rungs being connected along the plurality seat sides;

the plurality of seat rungs being perpendicularly connected to the plurality seat sides;

the plurality of back sides being positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides;

the plurality of cables being removably connected to each of the plurality of frame connectors;

the plurality of cables further comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors;

the plurality of fasteners being terminally connected to the plurality of cables;

the plurality of chair connectors being terminally connected to the plurality of cables; and

the plurality of fasteners being positioned opposite the plurality of chair connectors.

20. The porch swing as claimed in claim 19 comprising:

the plurality of pullout sides further comprising a plurality of pullout rungs and a pullout stopper;

the plurality of pullout sides being positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides;

the plurality of pullout rungs being positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of pullout sides;

the plurality of pullout rungs being positioned along the plurality of pullout sides;

the pullout stopper being terminally connected to the plurality of pullout sides; and

the pullout stopper being positioned perpendicularly to the plurality of seat rungs.

21. A porch swing comprising:

a frame;

a chair:

a plurality of cables;

the frame comprising a plurality of legs, a plurality of supports, a plurality of connectors, and a plurality of holes;

the chair comprising a plurality of arms, a plurality of back sides, a plurality of seat sides, and a plurality of pullout sides;

the plurality of cables comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors;

the chair being coupled to each of the plurality of cables;

each of the plurality of cables being coupled to the frame;

each of the plurality of cables being adjustable in length;

the frame being positioned around the chair;

each of the plurality of legs traversing from the terminal end of the frame;

the plurality of connectors being externally connected to the plurality of legs;

the plurality of supports being connected to the frame;

the plurality of holes being positioned along each of the plurality of supports;

the plurality of arms being connected to the chair;

the plurality of arms further comprising a plurality of cup holes, a plurality of cup holders, a plurality of arm supports, and a plurality of frame connectors;

the plurality of cup holders being terminally positioned along each of the plurality of arms;

the plurality of cup holders being concentrically positioned within each of the plurality of cup holes;

the plurality of arm supports being connected to each of the plurality of arms; and

the plurality of frame connectors being fastened to each of the plurality of arms.

22. The porch swing as claimed in claim 21 comprising:

the plurality of back sides further comprising a plurality of back rungs;

the plurality of back sides being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms;

the plurality of back rungs being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of back sides;

the plurality of back rungs being positioned along the plurality of back sides;

the plurality of seat sides further comprising a plurality of seat rungs;

the plurality of seat sides being perpendicularly positioned to the plurality of arms;

the plurality of seat rungs being connected along the plurality seat sides;

the plurality of seat rungs being perpendicularly connected to the plurality seat sides;

the plurality of back sides being positioned parallel to the plurality of seat sides;

the plurality of cables being removably connected to each of the plurality of frame connectors;

the plurality of cables further comprising a plurality of fasteners and a plurality of chair connectors;

the plurality of fasteners being terminally connected to the plurality of cables;

the plurality of chair connectors being terminally connected to the plurality of cables;

the plurality of fasteners being positioned opposite the plurality of chair connectors;
