Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The embodiments generally relate to the field of pillows or cushions and the support padding therein.

BACKGROUND

Modern padding and cushioning within blankets and pillows fail to provide environmentally friendly options for sleep solutions. Technologies such as memory foam; cotton, wool, or synthetic batting; down; or polymer pillow fillings often sacrifice ideal features like comfort, weight, and cooling ability to keep costs low and manufacturing easy while largely ignoring the environmental impacts of the manufacturing processes.

SUMMARY

This summary is provided to introduce a variety of concepts in a simplified form that is further disclosed in the detailed description of the embodiments. This summary is not intended to identify key or essential inventive concepts of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended for determining the scope of the claimed subject matter.

In general, the disclosed pillow may include an inner filling of hemp hulls or hemp fines to provide a breathable, non-toxic, and cooling filling.

The disclosed pillow may include a double-layered knit organic cotton casing including a dual-zipper system to retain the hemp hulls therein.

Other illustrative variations within the scope of the invention will become apparent from the detailed description provided hereinafter. The detailed description and enumerated variations, while disclosing optional variations, are intended for purposes of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The specific details of the single embodiment or variety of embodiments described herein are to the described product or methods of use. Any specific details of the embodiments are used for demonstration purposes only and no unnecessary limitations or inferences are to be understood from there.

It is noted that the embodiments reside primarily in combinations of components and procedures related to the products. Accordingly, the product and components have been represented where appropriate by conventional symbols in the drawings, showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present disclosure so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the description herein.

As used herein, the phrase โ€œhemp hullsโ€ and variations on that phrase include hemp hulls, hemp fines, ground hemp, shredded hemp, and the like.

In general, the embodiments described herein relate to a hemp hull pillow including a first double-knit organic cotton casing including a zipper system made from recycled materials. The hemp hull pillow may include a second jersey knit organic cotton casing including a zipper system made from recycled materials. According to some embodiments, the first and second casing may be made from double-knit organic cotton, jersey knit organic cotton, polyester, cotton, flannel, linen, silk, acetate, bamboo, fabric blends, or the like. According to some embodiments, the first casing and second casing may be made of a double-knit organic cotton. The first and second casings may provide a cool, quiet, moisture-wicking casing.

In general, the embodiments described herein relate to a hemp hull comforter, throw, blanket, weighted blanket, duvet cover, or the like. Any of the comforter, throw, blanket, weighted blanket, duvet cover or similar bedding material may be filled with hemp hulls, hemp fines, ground hemp, shredded hemp, and the like to provide for cool, quiet, moisture-wicking bedding.

The first and second casings may be generally rectangular in shape similar two more common pillows, however, the first and second casings may be of any desired shape including, but not limited to, circular, triangular, square, or the like. The first and second casings may include a side seam and zippered through opening to define a first and second cavity within the first and second casings, respectively.

The zippered through holes in the first casing and second casings may be constructed and arranged for storing hemp holes therein. The zippered through holes may include zippers made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

The hemp hull pillow may include an inner filling of hemp seed outer shells to provide a breathable, non-toxic, and cooling filling. The hemp hulls may be stored within the first cavity of the first casing, the second cavity of the second casing, or both. According to some embodiments, the hemp hulls may be stored only within the first cavity of the first casing and sealed therein via closing of the first zippered through hole. The second casing may incase the hemp hull filled first casing and may securely seal the first casing therein via closing of the second zippered through hole.

The hemp hull pillow may include an inner filling of the outer shells of hemp seeds grown and processed to reduce moisture and without the use or inclusion of chemicals, pests, pesticides, pathogens, or fumigants. Hemp hulls are extremely durable allowing for years of comfort before needing to be replaced.

In practice and in use, the hemp hull pillow may be used as a traditional pillow or may be used as an anxiety reducing pillow due to the relatively higher weight of hemp hulls as a bedding filling. The disclosed hemp hull pillow may be more portable than a weighted blanket. Hemp hulls have an earthy scent that may allow the hemp hull pillow to function in an aromatherapeutic manner. The hemp hull pillow is firm enough to maintain its shape and allow the pillow to function as a body pillow. The hemp hull pillow may also provide for increased cooling due to high breathability between hemp hulls.

Referring to FIG. 1, a hemp hull pillow 100 may include a first casing 202 made of double-knit organic cotton having a first outer seam 102. According to some embodiments, the first casing 202 is seamless.

Referring to FIG. 2, a hemp hull pillow 200 may include a first casing 202 having a first zippered through hole 206. The hemp hull pillow 100 may include a second casing 204 having a second zippered through opening 208. The second casing 204 may be disposed within the first casing 202. A plurality of hemp hulls 210 may be disposed within the second casing 204. Zippered through holes 206, 208 may encase the hemp hulls within the second casing 204.

Referring to FIG. 3, a hemp hull pillow 300 may include a first casing 202 having a first zippered through opening 206 and defining a first cavity 312 therein. The first casing 202 may include a textured weave 302 formed from double-knit organic cotton. The hemp hull pillow 300 may include a second casing 204 having a second zippered through opening 208 and defining a second cavity 314 therein. The second casing 204 may be disposed within the first cavity 312 of the first casing 202. A plurality of hemp hulls 210 may be disposed within the second cavity 314 defined by the second casing 204. The second zippered through opening 208 may sealingly close the hemp hulls within the second casing 204. The first zippered through opening 306 may sealing close the second casing 204 within the first cavity 312 defined by the first casing 202.
