Smart Summary: A necklace anchor is a device that helps keep necklaces in place against the neck. It has a flat base that is flexible and an attachment bar shaped like a "D." Wearers can clip their necklaces to this bar, which helps prevent them from moving around. Two securement washers are used to hold the attachment bar firmly in place and add extra support to avoid breakage. The anchor sticks to the skin using a safe medical-grade adhesive. 🚀 TL;DR

Abstract:

A necklace anchor is disclosed which is designed to lay flush with the users neck. The necklace anchor has a flat flexible base and an attachment bar. The attachment bar, which is “D” shaped, allows the wearer to clip their necklace to the attachment bar to assist in keeping the necklace in place. The attachment bar is secured to the base by way of two securement washers which provide support and stability to the necklace anchor. The securement washers further assist in preventing breakage. The necklace anchor attaches to the user by way of a medical grade adhesive.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to jewelry accessories. More specifically, the present invention is a mechanism to keep jewelry in place.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Necklaces are accessories often used to add a little something extra to an outfit. Necklaces often use a variety of colors by way of stones, pendants, beads, diamonds, and pearls. While some necklaces are large enough that they can be slipped over the user's head, many are placed around the user's neck and secured shut with a clasp. Standardly, the clasp is positioned on the rear side of the neck. Though necklaces are usually supposed to be worn with the clasp in the back, sometimes movement throughout the day can cause the necklace to shift around, moving the clasp to the front. This is not a very aesthetically pleasing look and causes the wearer to have to constantly be shifting the necklace back into its proper place.

An object of the present invention is to provide the user with a small patch-like apparatus that attaches to the back of the user's neck by way of a light coating of adhesive on the underside of the necklace anchor. The necklace anchor has a variety of connection mechanisms to keep the user's necklace in place and prevent the necklace from shifting during wear, this will prevent the clasp of the necklace from showing in front, which can be an unbecoming look to others.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention. The present invention is to be described in detail and is provided in a manner that establishes a thorough understanding of the present invention. There may be aspects of the present invention that may be practiced or utilized without the implementation of some features as they are described. It should be understood that some details have not been described in detail in order to not unnecessarily obscure focus of the invention. References herein to “the preferred embodiment”, “one embodiment”, “some embodiments”, or “alternative embodiments” should be considered to be illustrating aspects of the present invention that may potentially vary in some instances and should not be considered to be limiting to the scope of the present invention as a whole.

As shown in the figures, the present invention is a necklace anchor 1 which is a small patch that one can wear with a necklace to help keep the necklace from shifting during wear. An object of the present invention is to provide a small thin flexible apparatus to aid in securing a necklace's positionings. To accomplish this, the present invention is a flat circular patch made of flexible material made out of plastic, silicone, fabric or any material that maintains the function of the invention. The flexibility is needed to be able to bend as the user's neck moves and bends throughout the day. The patch is comprised of a flat circular panel that comes ready to be used in the packaging. The patch has a top side and an underside. On the underside of the patch, it is coated with a medical grade adhesive layer 23. This medical grade adhesive layer 23 provides all day long wear without concerns that the patch may wear off as the day progresses. The underside of the patch is the side that is adhered to the user's neck. The patch has multiple embodiments, allowing for a variety of styles of necklaces to be attached in a variety of different ways. The necklace can be clipped to an attachment bar 12 to ensure the necklace does not shift and twist during the day or while sleeping.

The patch operates by having the user place the patch on the back of their neck where the clasp of a necklace they are wearing might naturally sit. Once the position is determined, the user peels off the paper protecting the medical grade adhesive layer 23 prior to the patch's use. In one embodiment, the patch comes with a standard “D” shaped bar, in which a wearer will clasp together the two ends of a necklace and then also clips the clasp of the necklace on to the “D” shaped attachment bar 12 on the patch.

As shown in FIGS. 1-8, the present invention comprises a base 11 and an attachment bar 12. The necklace anchor 1 further comprises a trim 13 and a medical grade adhesive layer 23. The base 11 comprises an external surface 21 and an internal surface 22. The internal surface 22 is the surface that lays in contact with the wearers skin. The external surface 21 faces outward from the neck. The base 11 is designed to lay flush against the users skin by way of the medical grade adhesive layer 23. The trim 13 is positioned between the internal and external surface 21. The internal surface 22 has an outer edge 34 while the external surface 21 also bears an outer edge 33. The trim 13 is perimetrically positioned around the outer edge 33 of the external surface 21. The trim 13 is also perimetrically positioned around the outer edge 34 of the internal surface 22. An attachment bar 12 is centrally positioned on the external surface 21. The medical grade adhesive 23 is coated on the internal surface 22 of the base 11.

The attachment bar 12 has a first end 41 a second end 42. The external surface 21 has an upper half 31 and a lower half 32. The first end 41 of the attachment bar 12 being positioned on the upper half 31 of the external surface 21. Though the attachment bar 12 is placed on the upper half 31, it is not positioned at the outer edge 33. Further it is placed along the central axis of the base 11 so that necklace anchor 1 sits neutral when in use and does not keep the necklace in place in a lopsided position.

A first securement washer 43 is perimetrically positioned around the first end 41 of the attachment bar 12 where it attaches to the external surface 21. A second securement washer 44 is perimetrically positioned around the second end 42 of the attachment bar 12 where it attaches to the external surface 21. The first securement washer 43 and the second securement washer 44 are added features to ensure the attachment bar 12 does not break off from the base 11 while in use.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
