An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a base with a bottom surface, a top surface, and a perimeter surface, and the perimeter surface extends from the bottom surface to the top surface. A plurality of protrusions is coupled to the top surface of the base and forms an irregular upper surface.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a paving system according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a cross-section view of an embodiment of the disclosure taken from Line 4-4 in FIG. 2.

FIG. 5 is an exploded in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 6 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new paving system embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the paving system 10 generally comprises a plurality of pavers 12 which are shaped to be positionable in a tessellated configuration 14. Each paver 12 comprises a base 16 which is equal in size and shape to the bases 16 of the other pavers 12. The base 16 has a bottom surface 18, a top surface 20, and a perimeter surface 22, and the perimeter surface 22 has a square shape. The perimeter surface 22 may be a rectangular shape, a hexagonal shape, or the like. In some embodiments, the bases 16 may have different sizes and shapes but which tessellate with each other during use. The shapes of the bases 16 may also be adapted to fit the plurality of pavers 12 in the tessellated configuration 14 within a closed boundary.

Each paver 12 further comprises a plurality of protrusions 24 which are coupled to the top surface 20 of the base 16. The protrusions 24 form an irregular upper surface 26 and are shaped to resemble rocks. The protrusions 24 are different in size and shape to each other and entirely cover the top surface 20 of the base 16. The protrusions 24 are integrally formed with each other and with the base 16. In other embodiments, the protrusions 24 may be separately formed from each other and from the base 16. In such embodiments, the protrusions 24 may substantially cover an entirety of the top surface 20 of the base 16 but may have gaps between the protrusions 24.

Each paver 12 also has a coating 28 which is attached to the irregular upper surface 26 of the plurality of protrusions 24. The coating 28 may cover an entirety of the irregular upper surface 26 or may cover only a portion or portions of the irregular upper surface 26. The coating 28 has an ornamental appearance. The coating 28 comprises glitter 30 but may comprise other materials for ornamental or other purposes.

Each paver 12 is formed of a plastic or other suitable material for covering a ground surface 32 and preventing plant growth by blocking sunlight or preventing water or other nutrients from reaching the ground surface 32. In some embodiments, the protrusions 24 may comprise rocks or pebbles which are adhered to the bases 16.

In use, the pavers 12 are situated in the tessellated configuration 14 to decorate a landscaping area. In some cases, the pavers 12 may be cut to fit within the closed boundary when placed in the tessellated configuration 14. The pavers 12 may also be shaped or cut to accommodate desirable plants in selected areas of the tessellated configuration 14. When placed, the pavers 12 may provide a somewhat natural appearance to the landscaping area via the resemblance or use of rocks or pebbles while enhancing visual appeal via the glitter 30 or other coating 28.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word โ€œcomprisingโ€ is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article โ€œaโ€ does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
