(G) BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to mattress devices and more particularly pertains to a new mattress device for enhancing warmth and comfort for a user that is camping. The device includes an inflatable mattress that has a series of couplers attached to the inflatable mattress which each extends at least partially around the inflatable mattress. The device includes a sheet that is positionable over the mattress and which engages a respective coupler to secure the sheet to the inflatable mattress. The device includes a first blanket that is positionable over the sheet and which engages a respective coupler to secure the first blanket to the inflatable mattress. The device includes a second blanket that is positionable over the first blanket and which engages a respective coupler to secure the second blanket over the first blanket. In this way a user can sleep on top of the sheet and beneath each of the first blanket and the second blanket.

(2) DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART INCLUDING INFORMATION DISCLOSED UNDER 37 CFR 1.97 AND 1.98

The prior art relates to mattress devices including a variety of inflatable mattress devices that each at least has an integrated pillow for enhancing comfort for a user and a variety of inflatable mattress devices that each at least includes a cover that is removably attachable to an inflatable mattress to define a sleeping bag for enhancing warmth for a user. In no instance does the prior art disclose an inflatable mattress device that includes an inflatable mattress which is filled with a porous cushion and a sheet and a pair of blankets that are each independently attachable to the inflatable mattress to facilitate varying degrees of warmth for a user.

(H) BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising an inflatable mattress with an inflation valve for inflating the inflatable mattress. A first coupler is attached to the inflatable mattress, a second coupler is attached to the inflatable mattress and a third coupler is attached to the inflatable mattress. A sheet is positionable over the inflatable mattress and the sheet releasably engages the first coupler for attaching the sheet on the inflatable mattress. A first blanket is positionable over the sheet and the first blanket releasably engages the second coupler for attaching the first blanket to the inflatable mattress. A second blanket is positionable over the first blanket and the second blanket releasably engages the third fastener for attaching the second blanket to the inflatable mattress.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

(J) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 9 thereof, a new mattress device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 9, the camping mattress assembly 10 generally comprises an inflatable mattress 12 that has an inflation valve 14 which is fluidly integrated into the inflatable mattress 12 to facilitate air to pass through the inflation valve 14 for inflating the inflatable mattress 12. The inflatable mattress 12 has a bottom wall 16 and a top wall 18 and a perimeter wall 20 extending between the top wall 18 and the bottom wall 16. Additionally, the inflatable mattress 12 has a prominence 22 which curves upwardly from the top wall 18 at a point that is aligned with a front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 such that the prominence 22 defines a pillow 26 to enhance comfort for a user 28 sleeping on the inflatable mattress 12. The prominence 22 intersects the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 at an apex of the prominence 22 such that the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 has a greater height than a back side 30 of the perimeter wall 20. Furthermore, the prominence 22 extends between a first lateral side 32 and a second lateral side 34 of the perimeter wall 20. The inflatable mattress 12 may be structured to have dimensions that facilitate the inflatable mattress 12 to fit inside of a single person tent such that the inflatable mattress 12 can be employed while camping, for example, or other occasions that would involve sleeping outdoors.

The inflation valve 14 is integrated into the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 and the inflation valve 14 comprises a hollow stem 36 that is integrated into the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 of the inflatable mattress 12. The hollow stem 36 facilitates air to pass into or out of the inflatable mattress 12 and the hollow stem 36 has an outer surface 38 that is threaded. The inflation valve 14 includes a one way check valve 40 that has an inlet 42 and an outlet 44 and the inlet 42 is in fluid communication with the outlet 44. The inlet 42 threadably engages the outer surface 38 of the hollow stem 36 for attaching the one way check valve 40 to the hollow stem 36. The inflatable mattress 12 is a self-inflating type of mattress which is commonly employed for camping such that the inflatable mattress 12 inflates when the inflation valve 14 is open.

The one way check valve 40 facilitates air to flow from the outlet 44 to the inlet 42 thereby facilitating air to pass through the hollow stem 36 for inflating the inflatable mattress 12. Conversely, the one way check valve 40 inhibits air from flowing from the inlet 42 to the outlet 44 to inhibit air from escaping the inflatable mattress 12 when the one way check valve 40 is attached to the hollow stem 36. Additionally, the one way check valve 40 has an exterior surface 46 is threaded adjacent to the outlet 44. The one way check valve 40 may be a single direction air valve of any conventional design that is commonly employed for inflatable mattresses or inflatable floatation devices and other similar devices that are intended to remain inflated. The inflation valve 14 includes a cap 48 that has a perimeter wall 50 which has an interior surface 52 that is threaded for threadably engaging the exterior surface 46 of the one way check valve 40 thereby facilitating the cap 48 to close the outlet 44.

A first coupler 54 is attached to the inflatable mattress 12 and the first coupler 54 is elongated such that the first coupler 54 extends around a full perimeter of the inflatable mattress 12. The first coupler 54 is integrated into the perimeter wall 20 of the inflatable mattress 12 and the first coupler 54 is positioned closer to the top wall 18 of the inflatable mattress 12 than the bottom wall 16 of the inflatable mattress 12. A second coupler 56 is attached to the inflatable mattress 12 and the second coupler 56 is elongated to extend partially around the perimeter of the inflatable mattress 12. The second coupler 56 is integrated into the perimeter wall 20 of the inflatable mattress 12 and the second coupler 56 is positioned between the first coupler 54 and the bottom wall 16 of the inflatable mattress 12. The second coupler 56 has a first terminal end 58 that is positioned on the first lateral side 32 of the perimeter wall 20 at a point that is spaced from the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 of the mattress. Additionally, the second coupler 56 has a second terminal end 60 that is positioned on the second lateral side 34 of the perimeter wall 20 at a point which is spaced from the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20.

A third coupler 62 is attached to the inflatable mattress 12 and the third coupler 62 is elongated to extend partially around the perimeter of the inflatable mattress 12. The third coupler 62 is integrated into the perimeter wall 20 of the inflatable mattress 12 and the third coupler 62 is positioned between the second coupler 56 and the bottom wall 16 of the inflatable mattress 12. The third coupler 62 has a primary terminal end 64 that is positioned on the first lateral side 32 of the perimeter wall 20 at a point which is spaced from the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20 of the mattress. Additionally, the third coupler 62 has a secondary terminal end 66 that is positioned on the second lateral side 34 of the perimeter wall 20 at a point which is spaced from the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 20.

A sheet 68 is provided and the sheet 68 is positionable over the inflatable mattress 12. The sheet 68 releasably engages the first coupler 54 for attaching the sheet 68 on the inflatable mattress 12. The sheet 68 may be a fitted bed sheet or other type of sheet that is commonly employed for sleeping. A fourth coupler 70 is integrated into a perimeter edge 72 of the sheet 68 such that the fourth coupler 70 extends along a full length of the perimeter edge 72 of the sheet 68. Additionally, the fourth coupler 70 is releasably matable to the first coupler 54 for attaching the sheet 68 to the top wall 18 of the inflatable mattress 12. Each of the first coupler 54 and the fourth coupler 70 may comprise complementary portions of a zipper or other type of multiple use, releasable coupler.

A first blanket 74 is provided and the first blanket 74 is positionable over the sheet 68. The first blanket 74 releasably engages the second coupler 56 for attaching the first blanket 74 to the inflatable mattress 12. Additionally, the first blanket 74 is comprised of a thermally insulating material to inhibit thermal communication between the user 28 and ambient air thereby enhancing comfort for the user 28 in a cold environment. A fifth coupler 76 is integrated into a perimeter edge 78 of the first blanket 74 and the fifth coupler 76 is elongated such that the fifth coupler 76 extends partially around the perimeter edge 78 of the first blanket 74 with the exception of a forward side 80 of the perimeter edge 78 of the first blanket 74. The fifth coupler 76 is releasably matable to the second coupler 56 for attaching the first blanket 74 to the top wall 18 of the inflatable mattress 12 having the first blanket 74 being positioned on top of the sheet 68. Each of the second coupler 56 and the fifth coupler 76 may comprise complementary portions of a zipper or other type of multiple use, releasable coupler.

A second blanket 82 is provided and the second blanket 82 positionable over the first blanket 74. The second blanket 82 releasably engages the third fastener for attaching the second blanket 82 to the inflatable mattress 12. Additionally, the second blanket 82 is comprised of a thermally insulating material to inhibit thermal communication between the user 28 and ambient air thereby enhancing comfort for the user 28 in a cold environment. A sixth coupler 84 is integrated into a perimeter edge 86 of the second blanket 82 and the sixth coupler 84 is elongated such that the sixth coupler 84 extends partially around the perimeter edge 86 of the second blanket 82 with the exception of a forward side 87 of the perimeter edge 86 of the second blanket 82. The sixth coupler 84 is releasably matable to the third coupler 62 for attaching the second blanket 82 to the top wall 18 of the inflatable mattress 12 having the second blanket 82 being positioned on top of the first blanket 74. Additionally, each of the third coupler 62 and the sixth coupler 84 may comprise complementary portions of a zipper or other type of multiple use, releasable coupler.

A cushion 88 is positioned within the inflatable mattress 12 such that the cushion 88 completely fills the inflatable mattress 12. The cushion 88 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material to enhance comfort for the user 28 when the user 28 is lying on the inflatable mattress 12. Furthermore, the cushion 88 is comprised of a porous material, including but not being limited to memory foam or foamed rubber, to facilitate air to pass through the cushion 88 for inflating the inflatable mattress 12 thereby facilitating the inflatable mattress 12 to be inflated to a desired degree of firmness for the user 28.

A mat 90 is attached to the bottom wall 16 of the inflatable mattress 12 and the mat 90 extends partially upwardly on the perimeter wall 20 of the inflatable mattress 12. In this way the mat 90 can lie on the ground when the inflatable mattress 12 is positioned on the ground. The mat 90 is comprised of a puncture resistant material, including but not being limited to rubber or polyvinylchloride, to protect the bottom wall 16 of the inflatable mattress 12 from being punctured.

In use, the cap 48 is removed from the one way check valve 40 and facilitate air to enter into the inflatable mattress 12 and subsequently inflate the inflatable mattress 12 to a minimum degree of inflation, generally equal to that of atmospheric pressure. The user 28 can further inflate the inflatable mattress 12 by blowing into the one way check valve 40 until the inflatable mattress 12 reaches a desired level of firmness and the cap 48 is replaced on the one way check valve 40. The sheet 68 is positioned on the inflatable mattress 12 and the fourth coupler 70 is mated to the first coupler 54 to secure the sheet 68 to the inflatable mattress 12. The first blanket 74 is positioned on top of the sheet 68 and the fifth coupler 76 is mated to the second coupler 56 to secure the first blanket 74 to the inflatable mattress 12. The second blanket 82 can be positioned on top of the first blanket 74 in the event that the first blanket 74 does not provide adequate warmth for the user 28 and the sixth coupler 84 is mated to the third coupler 62 to secure the second blanket 82 to the inflatable mattress 12. In this way the user 28 can sleep on the inflatable mattress 12 without having to endure getting wrapped or tangled in the sheet 68 or the first blanket 74 or the second blanket 82 as can commonly occur while camping. The one way check valve 40 is removed from the hollow stem 36 to facilitate the inflatable mattress 12 to be deflated for subsequent storage and the one way check valve 40 is replaced on the hollow stem 36 once the inflatable mattress 12 is fully deflated.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word โ€œcomprisingโ€ is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article โ€œaโ€ does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A camping mattress assembly that includes a sheet and a plurality of blankets that can be removably attached depending upon the degree of warmth required by a user, said assembly comprising:

an inflatable mattress having an inflation valve being fluidly integrated into said inflatable mattress wherein said inflation valve is configured to facilitate air to pass through said inflation valve for inflating said inflatable mattress;

a first coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said first coupler being elongated such that said first coupler extends around a full perimeter of said inflatable mattress;

a second coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said second coupler being elongated to extend partially around said perimeter of said inflatable mattress;

a third coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said third coupler being elongated to extend partially around said perimeter of said inflatable mattress;

a sheet being positionable over said inflatable mattress, said sheet releasably engaging said first coupler for attaching said sheet on said inflatable mattress;

a first blanket being positionable over said sheet, said first blanket releasably engaging said second coupler for attaching said first blanket to said inflatable mattress; and

a second blanket being positionable over said first blanket, said second blanket releasably engaging said third fastener for attaching said second blanket to said inflatable mattress.

2. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein:

said inflatable mattress has a bottom wall and a top wall and a perimeter wall extending between said top wall and said bottom wall;

said inflatable mattress has a prominence curving upwardly from said top wall at a point being aligned with a front side of said perimeter wall such that said prominence defines a pillow wherein said pillow is configured to enhance comfort for a user sleeping on said inflatable mattress;

said prominence intersects said front side of said perimeter wall at an apex of said prominence such that said front side of said perimeter wall has a greater height than a back side of said perimeter wall;

said prominence extends between a first lateral side and a second lateral side of said perimeter wall; and

said inflation valve is integrated into said front side of said perimeter wall;

said first coupler is integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress;

said first coupler is positioned closer to said top wall of said inflatable mattress than said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress;

said second coupler is integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress;

said second coupler is positioned between said first coupler and said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress;

said second coupler has a first terminal end being positioned on said first lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall of said mattress;

said second coupler has a second terminal end being positioned on said second lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall;

said third coupler is integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress, said third coupler being positioned between said second coupler and said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress;

said third coupler has a primary terminal end being positioned on said first lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall of said mattress;

said third coupler has a secondary terminal end being positioned on said second lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall.

3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein:

said assembly includes a fourth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said sheet such that said fourth coupler extends along a full length of said perimeter edge of said sheet; and

said fourth coupler is releasably matable to said first coupler for attaching said sheet to said top wall of said inflatable mattress.

4. The assembly according to claim 3, wherein:

said assembly includes a fifth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said first blanket;

said fifth coupler is elongated such that said fifth coupler extends partially around said perimeter edge of said first blanket with the exception of a forward side of said perimeter edge of said first blanket; and

said fifth coupler is releasably matable to said second coupler for attaching said first blanket to said top wall of said inflatable mattress having said first blanket being positioned on top of said sheet.

5. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein:

said assembly includes a sixth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said second blanket;

said sixth coupler is elongated such that said sixth coupler extends partially around said perimeter edge of said second blanket with the exception of a forward side of said perimeter edge of said second blanket; and

said sixth coupler is releasably matable to said third coupler for attaching said second blanket to said top wall of said inflatable mattress having said second blanket being positioned on top of said first blanket.

6. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein:

said assembly includes a cushion being positioned within said inflatable mattress such that said cushion completely fills said inflatable mattress;

said cushion is comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said cushion is configured to enhance comfort for the user when the user is lying on said inflatable mattress; and

said cushion is comprised of a porous material wherein said cushion is configured to facilitate air to pass through said cushion for inflating said inflatable mattress thereby facilitating said inflatable mattress to be inflated to a desired degree of firmness for the user.

7. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein:

said inflatable mattress has a bottom wall and a perimeter wall;

said assembly includes a mat being attached to said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress having said mat extending partially upwardly on said perimeter wall of said mattress wherein said mat is configured to lie on the ground when said inflatable mattress is positioned on the ground; and

said mat is comprised of a puncture resistant material wherein said mat is configured to protect said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress from being punctured.

8. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said inflation valve comprises:

a hollow stem integrated into a front side of a perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress wherein said hollow stem is configured to facilitate air to pass into or out of said inflatable mattress;

a one way check valve having an inlet and an outlet, said inlet being in fluid communication with said outlet, said one way check valve being attachable to said hollow stem; and

a cap being removably attachable to said one way check valve.

9. The assembly according to claim 8, wherein:

said inlet threadably engages said outer surface of said hollow stem for attaching said one way check valve to said hollow stem;

said one way check valve facilitates air to flow from said outlet to said inlet wherein said one way check valve is configured to facilitate air to pass through said hollow stem for inflating said inflatable mattress;

said one way check valve inhibits air from flowing from said inlet to said outlet wherein said one way check valve is configured to inhibit air from escaping said inflatable mattress when said one way check valve is attached to said hollow stem; and

said one way check valve has an exterior surface being threaded adjacent to said outlet.

10. The assembly according to claim 9, wherein said cap has a perimeter wall which has an interior surface being threaded for threadably engaging said exterior surface of said one way check valve thereby facilitating said cap to close said outlet.

11. A camping mattress assembly that includes a sheet and a plurality of blankets that can be removably attached depending upon the degree of warmth required by a user, said assembly comprising:

an inflatable mattress having an inflation valve being fluidly integrated into said inflatable mattress wherein said inflation valve is configured to facilitate air to pass through said inflation valve for inflating said inflatable mattress, said inflatable mattress having a bottom wall and a top wall and a perimeter wall extending between said top wall and said bottom wall, said inflatable mattress having a prominence curving upwardly from said top wall at a point being aligned with a front side of said perimeter wall such that said prominence defines a pillow wherein said pillow is configured to enhance comfort for a user sleeping on said inflatable mattress, said prominence intersecting said front side of said perimeter wall at an apex of said prominence such that said front side of said perimeter wall has a greater height than a back side of said perimeter wall, said prominence extending between a first lateral side and a second lateral side of said perimeter wall, said inflation valve being integrated into said front side of said perimeter wall, said inflation valve comprising:

a hollow stem integrated into said front side of said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress wherein said hollow stem is configured to facilitate air to pass into or out of said inflatable mattress, said hollow stem having an outer surface being threaded;

a one way check valve having an inlet and an outlet, said inlet being in fluid communication with said outlet, said inlet threadably engaging said outer surface of said hollow stem for attaching said one way check valve to said hollow stem, said one way check valve facilitating air to flow from said outlet to said inlet wherein said one way check valve is configured to facilitate air to pass through said hollow stem for inflating said inflatable mattress, said one way check valve inhibiting air from flowing from said inlet to said outlet wherein said one way check valve is configured to inhibit air from escaping said inflatable mattress when said one way check valve is attached to said hollow stem, said one way check valve having an exterior surface being threaded adjacent to said outlet; and

a cap having a perimeter wall which has an interior surface being threaded for threadably engaging said exterior surface of said one way check valve thereby facilitating said cap to close said outlet;

a first coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said first coupler being elongated such that said first coupler extends around a full perimeter of said inflatable mattress, said first coupler being integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress, said first coupler being positioned closer to said top wall of said inflatable mattress than said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress;

a second coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said second coupler being elongated to extend partially around said perimeter of said inflatable mattress, said second coupler being integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress, said second coupler being positioned between said first coupler and said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress, said second coupler having a first terminal end being positioned on said first lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall of said mattress, said second coupler having a second terminal end being positioned on said second lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall;

a third coupler being attached to said inflatable mattress, said third coupler being elongated to extend partially around said perimeter of said inflatable mattress, said third coupler being integrated into said perimeter wall of said inflatable mattress, said third coupler being positioned between said second coupler and said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress, said third coupler having a primary terminal end being positioned on said first lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall of said mattress, said third coupler having a secondary terminal end being positioned on said second lateral side of said perimeter wall at a point being spaced from said front side of said perimeter wall;

a sheet being positionable over said inflatable mattress, said sheet releasably engaging said first coupler for attaching said sheet on said inflatable mattress;

a fourth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said sheet such that said fourth coupler extends along a full length of said perimeter edge of said sheet, said fourth coupler being releasably matable to said first coupler for attaching said sheet to said top wall of said inflatable mattress;

a first blanket being positionable over said sheet, said first blanket releasably engaging said second coupler for attaching said first blanket to said inflatable mattress, said first blanket being comprised of a thermally insulating material wherein said first blanket is configured to inhibit thermal communication between the user and ambient air thereby enhancing comfort for the user in a cold environment;

a fifth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said first blanket, said fifth coupler being elongated such that said fifth coupler extends partially around said perimeter edge of said first blanket with the exception of a forward side of said perimeter edge of said first blanket, said fifth coupler being releasably matable to said second coupler for attaching said first blanket to said top wall of said inflatable mattress having said first blanket being positioned on top of said sheet;

a second blanket being positionable over said first blanket, said second blanket releasably engaging said third fastener for attaching said second blanket to said inflatable mattress, said second blanket being comprised of a thermally insulating material wherein said second blanket is configured to inhibit thermal communication between the user and ambient air thereby enhancing comfort for the user in a cold environment;

a sixth coupler being integrated into a perimeter edge of said second blanket, said sixth coupler being elongated such that said sixth coupler extends partially around said perimeter edge of said second blanket with the exception of a forward side of said perimeter edge of said second blanket, said sixth coupler being releasably matable to said third coupler for attaching said second blanket to said top wall of said inflatable mattress having said second blanket being positioned on top of said first blanket;

a cushion being positioned within said inflatable mattress such that said cushion completely fills said inflatable mattress, said cushion being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said cushion is configured to enhance comfort for the user when the user is lying on said inflatable mattress, said cushion being comprised of a porous material wherein said cushion is configured to facilitate air to pass through said cushion for inflating said inflatable mattress thereby facilitating said inflatable mattress to be inflated to a desired degree of firmness for the user; and

a mat being attached to said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress having said mat extending partially upwardly on said perimeter wall of said mattress wherein said mat is configured to lie on the ground when said inflatable mattress is positioned on the ground, said mat being comprised of a puncture resistant material wherein said mat is configured to protect said bottom wall of said inflatable mattress from being punctured.
