BACKGROUND

Mats for hitting golf balls have been described in the prior art patent literature.

For example, U.S. Ser. No. 10/639,539 discloses a golf practice board to indicate a club head's path along a ground surface to improve a golfer's swing may include a frame with a bottom surface; a mat secured within the frame; and a plurality of multi-colored discs pivotably attached to a top surface of the mat, wherein an obverse surface of the multi-colored discs has a different color than a reverse surface of the multi-colored discs. The board may also include a cushioning material positioned between the frame and the mat.

US20210331055 discloses a golf mat having a high-density polyurethane viscoelastic foam removably placed in a cutout formed in a base. A hitting section is attached to an upper surface of the foam so that impacts of golf swing hitting the mat is absorbed by the foam. The foam may be placed in a protective bag to protect the foam from chipping and fraying. The hitting area is made with nylon having thermochromic pigments so that the pigments change color temporarily due to increased temperature from friction caused by impact and swipe of a golf clubhead on the hitting section when the golf clubhead hits the hitting section. The mat has a standing section with vertical lines and horizontal lines for the alignment of the golfer's feet. Moreover, the mat has a first set and a second set of on-the-mat-swing-path lines to compare the direction of temporary heat signature left by a divot.

Nevertheless, prior art golf mats have limitations including lack of adaptability.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

Therefore, the present invention is an innovative modular golf training mat system offering a comprehensive training experience for golfers. It offers versatility by allowing interchangeable mats, such as synthetic grass mimicking various aspects of a golf course, including artificial grass, fairway, driving, and rough golf mat surfaces.

According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided modular golf training mat system with replaceable surfaces, comprising: a base mat; a first hook and loop layer positioned on the top of the base mat; a golf surface; and a second hook and loop layer positioned on the bottom of the golf surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Many practice mats offer a single surface type, restricting the golfer's ability to simulate different course conditions. Therefore, the innovative hook and loop mechanism of the present invention allows effortless replacement or interchangeability of surfaces, ranging from artificial grass to fairway, driving, and rough golf mat surfaces, catering to various practice needs and course simulations.

The modularity enables practice on different shots and conditions while providing visual feedback on swing path, impact location, and swing plane through unique features like multi-colored discs or artificial grass.

Traditional golf mats might slip or move during use, affecting the golfer's stance and shot consistency. The heavy-duty weighted rubber base ensures stability, preventing slippage and providing a solid foundation for consistent practice swings. The mat's heavy-duty weighted rubber base ensures stability, preventing slippage during use, while its removable and replaceable system using Velcro (hook and loop) enhances convenience, allowing quick changes or upgrades of mat surfaces. Unlike systems relying on anchors, which can damage surfaces or limit usage to specific terrains, this design not only ensures stability but also enables the mat to be used on a broader range of surfaces, including hard surfaces, enhancing versatility for users.

Collectively, these design elements establish a comprehensive training tool, empowering golfers with visual references and surface adaptability to refine swing mechanics and precision.

The present invention provides for a matt which easily switches between a number of different golf surfaces.

A hook and loop mechanism is provided for attaching a first surface with multi-colored discs.

The first surface incorporates multi-colored discs that provide users with a swing reference, aiding in swing detection and analysis. Golfers often lack clear feedback on their swings. Therefore, the first surface clearly displays the golf club head's impact point and club head path with ground contact. The primary mat with multi-colored discs offers a visual reference, allowing users to analyze their swings more effectively, aiding in swing detection, and providing immediate feedback for adjustments.

A hook and loop mechanism is also provided for a second surface with artificial grass.

The second surface is artificial grass designed to mimic fairway conditions. The first surface can be easily removed and replaced with this second surface. The hook and loop mechanism enable the interchangeability of surfaces, from artificial grass to various golf mat textures, allowing golfers to practice shots on different types of course terrain.

A hook and loop mechanism is also provided for a third surface with artificial grass.

The third surface is artificial grass designed to mimic rough conditions. This surface with higher artificial grass is interchangeable with either of the first two surface types explained above.

Beneath each of the surfaces above is a base mat. All of the surfaces are removable to leave only the base mat, for example, during storage and transport.

A fold-out carry hook and accompanying clip can be provided according to an embodiment.

Conventional golf mats can be cumbersome to transport and store. The inclusion of a fold-out hook enhances portability, enabling easy storage and convenient transportation, addressing the challenges associated with handling and storing such equipment. The integrated fold-out carry hook and accompanying clip provide effortless portability, making it simple for golfers to transport and set up the training mat at desired locations.

FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective drawing of golf mat according an embodiment. Mat 10 has golf surface 20 removably applied to a base layer which is affixed by screws 30.

FIG. 2 illustrates an exploded view of the golf mat embodiment. Golf surface 20 is an artificial grass layer attached to mat 10 by a hook and loop mechanism. Golf surface 20 can be any of the surfaces described above for example, fairway and rough.

FIG. 3 illustrates a cross sectional view of the golf mat embodiment. Base 30 is made of heavy rubber so as to form a stable surface. Hook and loop mechanism 22 attaches golf surface 20 to base 30 by layer 32 which has a hook and loop feature.
