This invention relates generally to exercise bands, and more specifically exercise bands including protective sheaths.
Some prior art exercise bands include protective sheaths, however, there are no means to allow releasable and adjustable attachment of other exercise equipment thereto, nor the ability to change the shape of prior art exercise bands. As such, there are very limited uses for the known exercise bands. Thus, a desire exists for an improved exercise bands to allow releasable and adjustable attachment of other exercise equipment thereto to increase the utility of the known prior art exercise bands.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of exercise bands or the like in the prior art, the present invention provides a novel exercise band. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide an improved exercise band including an elastic band having detachable handles on opposite ends thereof, a movable sheath extending between the opposite ends and surrounding the elastic band, and a plurality of spaced attachment members placed around the elastic band and attached to the sheath for allowing releasable attachment of and movement of other exercise equipment. In use, exercise equipment can be releasably attached to chosen attachment members such that a variety of exercise band shapes can be created and a variety of exercises can then be performed using the improved exercise band, with all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and method(s) of use for the present invention, an improved exercise band, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present invention.
FIG. 1 shows a front perspective view illustrating the improved exercise band according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 2 shows a perspective view illustrating the improved exercise band including additional exercise equipment attached to chosen attachment members along its sheath and forming an alternate shape for exercising according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 a perspective view illustrating the improved exercise band including additional exercise equipment attached to chosen attachment members along its sheath and forming another alternate shape for exercising according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention of FIG. 1.
The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings.
As discussed above, embodiments of the present invention relate to an improved exercise band.
Referring now to the drawings FIGS. 1-3, the improved exercise band 100 that includes an elastic band 110 having detachable first and second handles 120 on opposite proximal and distal ends thereof, a movable sheath 130 formed having a tubular shape and extending between the opposite ends and surrounding the elastic band 110, and a plurality of spaced attachment members 140 attached to the sheath 130 for allowing releasable attachment of and movement of exercise equipment respective the elastic band. In use, exercise equipment, for example members 150, are releasably attached to chosen attachment members 140 such that the exercise band can be formed in different shapes, such that a variety of exercises can be performed using the improved exercise band.
In FIG. 2, the exercise band is formed in a loop so that it can be releasably attached to a hook or ring on a wall and pulled therefrom. In FIG. 3, the exercise band is formed in an elongated loop so that it can be hung from a weightlifting bar, used to hang a weight therefrom, and pulled therefrom.
An important aspect of the invention is that the tension and resistance of the exercise band can be changed and adjusted by the attachment members chosen and by the shape of the exercise band formed. As such, during exercising routines the resistance of the exercise band can be increased or decreased depending on the chosen routines. Examples of the shapes of the improved exercise band formed include varying sized loops.
Materials used to form the elastic band include rubber and nylon. Materials used to form the sheath include cotton and nylon.
The embodiments of the invention described herein are exemplary and numerous modifications, variations and rearrangements can be readily envisioned to achieve substantially equivalent results, all of which are intended to be embraced within the spirit and scope of the invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.
Although specific embodiments have been illustrated and described herein, it will be appreciated by those of ordinary skill in the art that any arrangement, which is calculated to achieve the same purpose, may be substituted for the specific embodiment shown. This application is intended to cover any adaptations or variations of the present invention.
