FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to garment construction. More specifically, the present invention is a hooded garment incorporating novel pocket structures.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The demand for functional enhancements in hooded garments through strategic pocket placement is increasing. Hooded garments, commonly known as hoodies, generally fall short in providing suitable and easily accessible storage options for personal items. Current designs often position pockets in lower areas, which restricts ease of access and convenience for users. Although there are customizable pocket hoodies available on the market, they frequently do not meet users' needs for quick retrieval and secure storage of small items. Therefore, there is a clear need to develop hooded garments that address these challenges.

The present invention is intended to solve the problems associated with conventional devices (clothing) and methods and provide improvements on these devices.

The present invention relates to a hoodie that features a pocket strategically located on the upper left chest, designed for quick access to small, commonly used items. This pocket includes several innovative elements to enhance functionality and user convenience. One prominent feature is the dynamic closure mechanism, which employs a retractable or magnetic closure system, allowing users to open and secure the pocket easily with one hand. Additionally, the pocket includes an interior lining that protects electronic devices from scratches and moisture, making it suitable for storing smartphones and wallets. To further improve usability, the main pocket area is designed with smaller organizational compartments that help users keep different items in designated areas, preventing them from jostling around and allowing for faster access.

In addition to these features, the pocket is equipped with a reflective safety strip, beneficial for users engaging in outdoor activities during low-light conditions, enhancing visibility and safety while adding a stylish design element. The pocket is constructed from adaptable fabric technology, which is breathable and stretchable, allowing it to conform to the items stored within, thereby minimizing bulk and maintaining a sleek appearance. DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is directed towards a garment (10) formed as a shirt comprising a shirt body (11), one or more upper pockets (12), one or more lower pockets (13), and a hood (14). For the preferred embodiment, the entirety of the shirt (10) is constructed from an insulated cloth material, such as those typically found among sweaters and/or sweatshirts in the prior art. Alternate embodiments may incorporate additional materials to perform one or more utilitarian or aesthetic purposes, such as insulation, water-proofing, microfiber, or artistic designs. The materials used may be adaptable to the garment's wearer or any items stored in the pockets. These adaptations may include stretching/elasticity, compression, or other similar known clothing techniques achieved through material composition and construction.

The one or more upper pockets (12) are positioned on the upper torso for the front facing surface of the shirt body (11). For most embodiments, the one or more pockets (12) will comprise a single pocket positioned over the right or left breast. Alternate embodiments may include a pocket over each breast, a pocket over the center of the torso, or a plurality of pockets interspersed between the arms of the shirt. Other embodiments may nest one or more of the upper pockets (12) as smaller pockets within some or all of the other upper pockets (12). The one or more lower pockets (13) are positioned on the lower torso and/or abdomen for the front facing surface of the shirt body (11). For most embodiments, the one or more pockets (13) will comprise a single pocket spanning the majority of the width for the shirt body's front facing surface. Alternate embodiments may provide multiple pockets arranged, for example, a pair of pockets each closer to the respective right and left edge of the front facing surface. Such an embodiment may also include a third pocket spanning between the oppositely positioned pockets. Other embodiments may allow for one or more lower pockets (13) nested within some or all of the other lower pockets. Nested pockets of any variety may be arranged as compartments within the other pockets or simply be pockets attached to other pockets. Embodiments of pockets in any position (12 or 13) may be openly accessible or sealable through zippers, buttons, snaps, magnets, draw strings, Velcro-like fastening, other recognizable clothing techniques.

Upper or lower pockets are typically comprised of the same material as the other components of the shirt. Alternate embodiments may allow for the pockets to comprise alternate materials for aesthetic or utilitarian purposes. For example, an embodiment for one or more pockets may further comprise a lining material with properties to safeguard a carried electronic device. Another embodiment may incorporate pockets comprising a material with improved visibility characteristics such as night glowing or reflective material. Embodiments may include pockets comprising wholly or one or more layers of moisture-wicking fabric or similar material which affects the garment and/or pocket environment. Pockets are typically constructed by attaching the constituent material to the shirt body and/or any other adjacent components (such as other pockets). Materials allowing for improved ventilation/airflow may also be utilized in some embodiments. The attachment will typically be formed as sewn seems or woven together. Alternate processes may allow for seamless manufacture using a continuous fabric source. Any additional alternate materials will generally be woven or sewn in with the chosen material. Some embodiments may allow for pockets to be attached using adhesive or chemical bonding techniques.

The hood (14) is attached at the neck of the shirt body. For the preferred embodiment, the hood will be constructed from the same material as the shirt body (11). Alternate embodiments allow the hood (14) to be comprised of additional and/or alternate materials, such as additional layers of insulative or fluid resistant fabrics. For most embodiments, the hood (14) will be constructed seamlessly with the shirt body (11), constructing it from the same mass of material.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
