Smart Summary: A table leveler consists of two wedges that can rotate around a central point. When positioned in one way, they form a rectangular shape. This tool is designed to stabilize wobbly tables, desks, and even chairs. It is made to standard dimensions, making it easy to carry and use in different places. The leveler helps ensure that furniture stays steady and doesn't rock. 🚀 TL;DR

Abstract:

The present invention, generally, is a pair of wedges that are affixed to each other in a centrally rotatable fashion that in one orientation have a rectangular prism shape and when rotated for a single wedge. The present invention is intended for use with a table or desk that is uneven and wobbles or rocks but is also usable with chairs and other furniture items. Most typically, the present invention is designed with the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standard dimensions to allow for ease of transport and reuse.

Description

BACKGROUND

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to mechanical devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a small, portable device for leveling tables, chairs, desks, and other furniture items by preventing them from rocking due to uneven legs.

Description of the Related Art

Frequently, rocking tables and desks are simply left to rock. Other times, someone sitting at the table may have some paper that may be folded up to match the height needed for the table to no longer rock. Shims made from plastic or rubber are readily available within the market but are not designed to be carried with someone for use with public tables or chairs. Adjustable feet are also available within the market but are also not designed to be carried with someone for public, repeatable use.

SUMMARY

The present invention, generally, is a pair of wedges that are affixed to each other in a centrally rotatable fashion that in one orientation have a rectangular prism shape and when rotated for a single wedge. The present invention is intended for use with a table or desk that is uneven and wobbles or rocks but is also usable with chairs and other furniture items. Most typically, the present invention is designed with the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standard dimensions to allow for ease of transport and reuse.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows the invention in the semi-open position showing the individual wedges.

FIG. 2 shows the invention in the open position showing the combined wedge.

FIG. 3 shows the invention with 3 of the individual wedges.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

In the following description, for purposes of explanation and not limitation, details and descriptions are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced in other embodiments that depart from these details and descriptions without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

In one embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, two wedges, 10 and 12, of equal dimensions are centrally affixed, 16, to each other such that the wedges can rotate to form a rectangular prism. In some embodiments, the wedges are ridged, 14, on the exterior surface to allow for higher friction with the floor and the furniture item to be stabilized, such that the foot of the furniture item is not sitting on a smooth surface. Some embodiments of this are such that the entire exterior surface of both of the wedges are covered with ridges, and others such that the exterior surface only has a few ridges, or even as few as one ridge on each side.

Most typically, the wedges have dimensions of 85.6 mm width, 53.98 mm height, and less than 1.0 mm thick. These are the dimensions of the ISO/EIC 7810 ID-1 format size. As such, the present invention is typically designed to fit into a credit card slot within a wallet or purse to be readily available for someone to use to level a rocking or wobbly table or chair. However, other dimensions are contemplated.

Most typically, the wedges have a slope angle between 0.5° and 1.0°. Other slope angles are contemplated.

In further embodiments, there is a notch, 16, within the wedges that allow the wedges to be locked into place, removing the ability to rotate, until the lock is released.

In some embodiments, as seen in FIG. 3, there may be three or four wedges, 18, instead of just two, allowing for a greater height adjustment for an especially wobbly table.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A device, comprising:

at least two wedges of equal dimensions centrally affixed to each other such that the wedges can rotate and form a rectangular prism with the wedges having interior surfaces where the wedges contact another wedge, and an exterior surface where the wedge does not contact another wedge.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein at least one exterior surface of the at least two wedges has at least one ridge on at least one exterior surface.

3. The device of claim 2, wherein the at least one ridge is on each exterior surface.

4. The device of claim 2, wherein the at least one ridge is a sufficient number of ridges to cover the exterior surface.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein each wedge has dimensions of 85.6 mm width, 53.98 mm height, and less than 1.0 mm thick.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the wedges have a slope angle of between 0.5° and 1.0°.

7. The device of claim 1, further comprising a notch in the wedges such that the wedges can be locked into place removing the ability to rotate until the lock is released.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein the at least two wedges are three or four wedges.
