This invention pertains to the medical field. It was created to hold the stethoscope in a unique way for simple use of access from the user. Overall, it can improve the ease of use of a stethoscope by making adherence of the stethoscope to one's person and removal for use an easy transition. The medical field has many stethoscope holders, but not in this particular manner. This stethoscope compressive holder is different to most other holders because it primarily uses two separate compressive forces to secure the stethoscope tubing into place. The compression of the tubing with the stethoscope holder's extensions is strong enough to secure it into place on one's person but not too strong as to make removing the stethoscope from the holder a challenging process. With a single hand the user can remove and secure the stethoscope to this clip for a quick and effortless attachment. There are other stethoscope holders out there, some that even use mild compression force, but they are more complicated. They use different methods of design and compression and as a result they are not as easy to use and adhering/removing the stethoscope from them is a more complicated process.
The stethoscope compressive holder is a configuration of material designed to hold the tubing portion of the stethoscope in place by compression with the portion of the tubing that is attached laying in a horizontal direction, perpendicular to the user. As visible in the drawings portion, it has a clip portion, which the user can attach to their clothing or other materials, and two openings for the insertion of the stethoscope tubing. The stethoscope is generally folded for use and the tubing portions near the diaphragm of the stethoscope and the tubing portion near the bifurcation to the ear tubes on the stethoscope are generally the locations on the stethoscope that the holder compresses to secure. It is made to be a simple and efficient way to easily hold a stethoscope to one's person for easy attachment and detachment. The stethoscope holder can be constructed with a multitude of materials such as plastic, wood, or metal, among others.
At figures of the drawings are briefly described as follows:
FIG. 1. This is a front facing perspective showing the holder upright.
FIG. 2. This is a diagonal-posterior perspective view showing the holder upright. It focuses on the back part of the holder.
FIG. 3. This is showing a diagonal perspective of the holder showing it laying on its left side with a front facing view.
FIG. 4. This is a right sided perspective with the holder laying on its back/posterior border.
FIG. 5. This is a left sided perspective with the holder laying on its back/posterior border.
FIG. 6. This shows a superior view looking downward on the holder from above.
FIG. 7. This shows an inferior view looking upward on the holder from below.
In some embodiments the inferior, middle, and superior, extensions are moveable and can be adjusted to further compress the stethoscope tubing.
The purpose of the stethoscope compression holder is to clasp the stethoscope while the user is not currently operating the stethoscope. The stethoscope holder has two open sections that grasp the tubing of the stethoscope horizontally at two points towards the ends of each section of the stethoscope. The invention has a clip in the back that can slide onto clothing and holds the stethoscope holder in position. The user simply pushes both sections of the tubing, near the stethoscope diaphragm and near the stethoscope ear tubes, into the two open concave sections of the stethoscope holder which functionally pinches the tubing and holds it in position using compressive forces from the holder on the tubing. The user inserts two points of the stethoscope tubing into the superior and inferior openings of the holder, 202 and 201 in the drawings. The size of the holder is about two inches tall, one inch deep, and one inch wide, but can vary. It can be made with theoretically any material, including wood, metal, or plastic, to name a few, but typically is made with plastic. One can either mold the stethoscope holder, 3D print it, or carve it out of a substance, to name a few. There exist other stethoscope clasps and holders, but none pinch the tubing in a horizontal manner, especially at two parts, as this stethoscope holder does. Other designs grasp the diagraph of the stethoscope and wrap the ear tubes using straps or vertical mechanisms of holding, but they are distinctively different in their mechanism and specification. Some designs may use compressive-type forces, but are fundamentally different in the manner of two points of attachment, in the manner of how they attach, and how the tubing is compressed, locking it in place and preventing it from sliding out from the holder.
1. A stethoscope holder, comprising:
A stethoscope tubing holder; the use of compressive forces on the stethoscope tubing to secure it into place. The tubing holder has extensions arrayed vertically in the same direction. The gap between each successive extension is the area where the stethoscope tubing is compressed between the extensions and held and the tubing enters and exits between extensions horizontally.
2. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, wherein the stethoscope holder that secures the stethoscope tubing does so using two separate areas between the extensions that use compression to secure the stethoscope in place.
3. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, wherein the stethoscope holder secures the stethoscope tubing at a multiple of contact points on the tubing using the compression between extensions.
4. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, where in the stethoscope holder uses compressive forces of extensions to hold multiple points of the stethoscope tubing in place in a single area of recess between extensions.
5. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, further comprising adjusting the extensions on the stethoscope tubing to accommodate different tubing diameters and secure the tubing in a customizable manner.
6. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, wherein the tubing of the stethoscope is compressed using solid material and three prongs that hold two parts of the tubing of the stethoscope in place.
7. The stethoscope holder of claim 1, wherein the tubing of the stethoscope is compressed using solid material and two prongs/extensions that hold multiple parts of the tubing of the stethoscope in place.
8. The stethoscope holder in claim 3, wherein the stethoscope holder has a clip in the posterior section attaching the stethoscope holder to the person.
9. The stethoscope holder of claim 3, where the clip allows the stethoscope holder to be worn on a users waist, pocket, belt, or other article worn on a person.
