Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63/712,614, filed Oct. 28, 2024, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to gift wrapping materials, and more particularly to dual-purpose gift-wrapping paper designed for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts that incorporates decorative wildlife imagery on a front surface and functional shooting targets on the reverse surface.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Gift wrapping paper serves the conventional purpose of decoratively concealing gifts prior to presentation. Traditional gift-wrapping paper is typically discarded after use, representing a single-use product with limited utility beyond its decorative function.

In the hunting and shooting sports community, practitioners regularly utilize various targets for firearm sighting, practice, and accuracy training. Conventional shooting targets are purpose-built items that serve only their intended function and lack any secondary utility.

The hunting and outdoor sports market represents a significant consumer segment that values practical, multi-functional products. However, existing gift-wrapping solutions fail to address the specific interests and practical needs of this demographic.

There exists a need in the art for gift wrapping paper that not only serves its primary decorative function but also provides secondary utility specifically tailored to the hunting and shooting sports community.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention addresses the aforementioned needs by providing a dual-purpose gift-wrapping paper specifically designed for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. The invention comprises a sheet of paper material having a first surface featuring decorative wildlife artwork and a second surface featuring functional shooting targets.

In one embodiment, the first surface displays original wildlife photography or artwork depicting animals, hunting scenes, or outdoor themes relevant to the hunting community. The second surface features a pattern of shooting targets, preferably incorporating a repeating grid system to facilitate accurate shooting practice and firearm sighting.

The dual-purpose design allows the gift-wrapping paper to serve its primary decorative function during gift presentation, while subsequently providing practical utility as shooting targets after the gift-opening occasion.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a plan view of the first surface of the gift-wrapping paper showing a decorative pattern comprising oval-framed wildlife photographs arranged on a green background with hunting-themed decorative elements in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention; and

FIG. 2 is a plan view of the second surface of the gift-wrapping paper showing a repeating pattern of concentric square shooting targets with grid lines arranged in a rectangular array in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings, the present invention provides a dual-purpose gift-wrapping paper 10 particularly adapted for use by hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.

As shown in FIG. 1, the gift-wrapping paper 10 includes a first surface 12 featuring decorative elements 14. In the preferred embodiment, the decorative elements 14 comprise a plurality of oval-framed wildlife photographs arranged in a repeating pattern across a colored background. The wildlife photographs depict various game animals including deer, turkey, and other species relevant to the hunting community. In a preferred embodiment, each wildlife photograph is surrounded by a decorative frame, preferably an oval-shaped frame with a metallic appearance such as gold or bronze coloring.

The colored background, preferably green in color, further includes secondary decorative elements 16/18 such as arrows, leaves, and other hunting-themed imagery that complement the wildlife photographs and enhance the overall hunting aesthetic of the first surface 12.

The decorative elements 14 are arranged in a repeating or non-repeating pattern across the first surface 12 to provide comprehensive visual coverage suitable for gift wrapping applications. The artwork may be printed using conventional printing techniques including but not limited to offset printing, digital printing, or screen-printing processes.

As shown in FIG. 2, the gift-wrapping paper 10 includes a second surface 20 opposite to the first surface 12. The second surface 20 features a target pattern 22 specifically designed for shooting applications.

In the preferred embodiment, the target pattern 22 comprises a plurality of shooting targets 24 arranged in a rectangular array across the second surface 20. As illustrated, six shooting targets 22 are arranged in a 2Γ—3 configuration, though other arrangements may be utilized. Each shooting target 22 comprises concentric square patterns 24 with grid lines 26 providing measurement references for shot placement and accuracy assessment.

The shooting targets 22 feature a series of nested squares 24 decreasing in size toward a central target area, with the grid lines 26 facilitating precise measurement of shot groups. The grid system enables hunters and shooters to accurately assess firearm performance and make appropriate sighting adjustments.

The shooting targets 22 may incorporate various target designs including but not limited to bullseye patterns, silhouette targets, or specialized hunting-specific target configurations. The grid system 26 provides precise measurement capabilities enabling users to assess shot groups and make appropriate firearm adjustments.

The substrate material for the gift-wrapping paper 10 comprises paper suitable for both decorative and shooting applications. The paper weight and quality should be sufficient to withstand normal gift-wrapping handling while providing adequate target performance for shooting activities.

In alternative embodiments, the decorative elements 14 may vary to include different wildlife species, seasonal hunting themes, or customized artwork. Similarly, the target pattern 22 may be modified to include different target styles, grid sizes, or specialized shooting applications.

The dual-purpose nature of the invention provides significant practical value to the hunting community by combining the traditional function of gift wrapping with the practical utility of shooting targets, thereby reducing waste and providing extended product value.

Materials and Construction

The gift-wrapping paper 10 is preferably constructed from paper stock having sufficient weight and durability to serve both functions effectively. In a preferred embodiment, the paper weight ranges from approximately 60 to 100 GSM (grams per square meter) to provide adequate durability for shooting applications while maintaining flexibility for wrapping purposes.

The printing process for applying the decorative elements and target pattern may utilize fade-resistant inks to ensure longevity during storage and use. UV-resistant inks may be particularly beneficial for outdoor shooting applications.

Advantages of the Invention

The present invention provides several advantages over conventional gift-wrapping materials, including, but not limited to:

    • Dual Functionality: Serves both decorative and practical purposes, providing extended value beyond traditional single-use wrapping paper.
    • Target Market Appeal: Specifically addresses the interests and needs of the hunting and outdoor sports community.
    • Cost Effectiveness: Eliminates the need to purchase separate shooting targets, providing economic benefit to users.
    • Environmental Consideration: Reduces waste by providing continued utility after the initial gift-wrapping purpose is fulfilled.
    • Novelty Factor: Provides unique gift presentation that aligns with the recipient's interests and hobbies.

While the invention has been described with reference to specific embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

The decorative artwork may be varied to include different wildlife species, artistic styles, or thematic elements relevant to outdoor activities. The target configurations may be modified to accommodate different shooting disciplines, calibers, or training objectives.

The invention is not limited to paper substrates and may be implemented using alternative materials suitable for both decorative and target applications, including but not limited to fabric, synthetic materials, or composite substrates.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
