Description

FIELD OF DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure generally relates to portable storage solutions. More specifically, it pertains to adaptable and multi-functional storage systems for personal items that can be attached to various objects and furniture pieces.

BACKGROUND

In some situations, users of outdoor furniture, such as lounge chairs, hammocks, patio furniture, etc., may find it challenging to keep their personal belongings organized and easily accessible. For example, beachgoers or pool visitors may struggle to find a convenient place to store items like sunscreen, phones, or books while relaxing on a lounge chair.

Outdoor furniture is available in a wide variety of styles and widths. For example, resort-style loungers are typically wider than commercial loungers or loungers sold for home use. Moreover, different styles may have differing features. Accordingly, storage systems that work for one piece of outdoor furniture may be an incorrect size for other pieces.

The conventional strategy is to place items brought with the user on the ground or in a separate bag. This often causes problems because the conventional strategy does not provide a secure and easily accessible storage solution directly attached to the furniture. For example, items left on the ground may be exposed to sand, water, or accidental damage, while separate bags may be cumbersome to access or prone to theft when left unattended.

Accordingly, there is a need for a portable storage solution that adjusts to the width of the furniture on which it is placed, and that securely fastens to the furniture on which it is placed.

The fasteners 400 may enable the first pocket and second pocket to be connected in a compact configuration for storage or transport.

III. Platform Operation

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an adjustable storage system operative using a set of methods. The following depicts an example of at least one method of a plurality of methods that may be performed using the system.

Furthermore, although the stages of the following example method are disclosed in a particular order, it should be understood that the order is disclosed for illustrative purposes only. Stages may be combined, separated, reordered, and various intermediary stages may exist. Accordingly, it should be understood that the various stages, in various embodiments, may be performed in arrangements that differ from the ones described below. Moreover, various stages may be added or removed from the method without altering or departing from the fundamental scope of the depicted methods and systems disclosed herein.

A. Master Method

Consistent with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may be performed by at least one of the aforementioned components. FIG. 7 is a flow chart setting forth the general stages involved in a method 700 consistent with an embodiment of the disclosure for providing portable adjustable-width storage system 100. For illustrative purposes alone, the system 100 is described as one potential actor in the following stages.

A method 700 of using portable adjustable-width storage system may include providing a system including a first pocket and a second pocket connected by an adjustable connecting strap, in stage 702. In some embodiments, the system may be provided in a compact configuration, where the first pocket is releasably coupled to the second pocket. In embodiments, the connecting strap may include a slider mechanism to enable extension and retraction of the strap. In some embodiments (e.g., where the system is provided in the compact configuration), the connecting strap may be substantially retracted and stored in a medial pouch on either the first pocket or second pocket.

In stage 704, the user may place the storage system across a lounge chair or other furniture item. Placing the storage system across the furniture item may include converting the storage device from the compact configuration to a storage configuration by releasing the fasteners that hold the first pocket adjacent to the second pocket, disconnecting the second end of the multipurpose strap, and extending the connecting strap. The connecting strap may be extended to increase a distance between the first pocket and the second pocket. This may be done by using the slider mechanism to lengthen the connecting strap.

Once the strap is extended to an appropriate length for the furniture item, the system can be placed so that one pocket is on each side of the furniture item, and the strap rests on an upper surface of the furniture item. The strap may be positioned such that the first pocket and the second pocket drapes over or overhang opposite sides of a lounge chair. The first and second pockets may each have a fold-over flap configured to drape over the sides of the lounge chair.

In stage 706, the multipurpose strap may be manipulated to encircle at least a portion of the furniture item. For example, as shown in FIG. 1, the multipurpose strap may encircle a portion of a lounger backrest. Thereafter, the second end of the multipurpose strap may be connected to the same pocket that the first end is connected to, such that the system is retained on the furniture item at least by the multipurpose strap.

Once the storage system is secured in place, the user is free to enjoy their lounging experience, accessing storage compartments as needed to withdraw and/or store items.

The method may further comprise reconfiguring the multipurpose strap from the attachment configuration to the carrying configuration in stage 708. This reconfiguration may include disconnecting the second end of the strap, manipulating the strap such that it no longer encircles the furniture item, and reconnecting the second end of the strap in a desired location to enable use of the multipurpose strap as a carrying handle.

In stage 710, the user may retract the connecting strap to decrease the distance between the first pocket and the second pocket. This may be done by using the slider mechanism to shorten the connecting strap. The retracted strap may be stored in a medial pouch disposed on the first or second pockets.

The first pocket may be connected to the second pocket in the carrying configuration using a plurality of fasteners in stage 712. The user may carry the accessory carrier system using the multipurpose strap in the carrying configuration.
