BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present application is related to a bed bridge with a waterproof mattress protector for bridging the gap between two side by side mattresses, to create a smooth and continuous sleeping surface. The mattress protectors are made of waterproof fabric and equipped with a strap at each corner and additional straps at the side of the mattress protector for a snug fit. The mattress protector features a pocket with a zipper underneath it, to place the foam wedge.

2. Description of the Related Art

The bridge is an accessory for filling the gap between two side by side mattresses, often we have to make a larger bed by joining two small mattresses, but the gap between them creates discomfort and keeps the area above the gap unusable, and it becomes difficult to keep the mattresses together. There are multiple kinds of bed bridges available. The most common type of bed bridge is the one with very small or almost no tops, used for filling the gaps only; users still require a mattress protector or bed sheet over the mattresses, but the bump of the bed bridge might still be visible in the middle, and straps of the bed bridge under the bed sheet or mattress topper can create discomfort for the person sleeping over it.

Another type of bed bridge features a permanently attached small topper but the topper doesn't fully cover or protect the mattresses, another drawback of a permanently attached topper is that the bed bridge becomes bulky and not washable, which creates hygiene-related issues. To solve this problem this novel waterproof mattress protector with a detachable foam wedge is being introduced.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present bed bridge comes with a detachable, water-proof, and stain-resistant mattress protector that is easy to wash. The washable mattress protector ensures long-lasting cleanliness and hygiene while being cost-effective for the user. Beneath the mattress protector, there is a fabric cover with a zipper that holds the foam securely in place between the mattresses. The foam wedge can be removed through a zipper on the cover. In case of wear and tear, the foam or the mattress protector can be purchased separately as needed.

The removable mattress protector is water-proof but breathable fabric to provide the most comfortable experience. Mattress protectors of different colors, fabrics, and designs can be offered, which are made of the same waterproof material. Each mattress protector has a permanently attached flexible elastic strap at each of four corners, it also features adjustable side straps made of elastic material to provide a snug fit around the mattresses. The mattress protector can be paired with tight-fitted sides as an optional design. The fabric pocket can house various heights of foam wedges, so the same mattress protector can be used with different thicknesses of mattresses.

The mattress protector helps protect the mattress from sweating, liquid spillage, staining, or other possible damage. It also keeps the mattress surface hygienic and extends the life of the mattress.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The entire assembly of a bed bridge affixed over the mattresses is shown in FIG. 1, the bed bridge assembly has foam wedge 3 and a mattress protector 6, is attached over the foam wedge placed inside the pocket underneath zipper 7, the foam wedge 3 is very affordable and maintenance free option. The bed bridge is supposed to be placed between the gap of the first mattress 1 and the second mattress 2. The foam wedge 3 is made of soft foam with no rigid object placed inside, the wedge will fill the gap providing a smooth and seamless surface, the detachable foam wedge can be offered in multiple height options to snug fit within different heights of mattresses and could be made of different hardness of foams to be seamlessly paired with various of mattress materials.

The method of using this bed bridge is very simple just place the foam wedge 3 inside the cover under the mattress protector 3, place the mattress protector on the mattresses aligning the foam part in the middle, between the mattresses as shown in FIG. 1 and place the mattress protector 6 over the mattresses, then side straps 5 need to be tied around the mattresses, at last place each corner straps 4 around the corners of mattresses and tuck them under the mattress corners. As shown in FIG. 3, the side straps are also equipped with a length-adjusting mechanism like a metal or plastic slide sling mechanism to adjust the strap to provide a snug fit around the mattresses and a side-release plastic buckles with each strap for quick buckling of the straps.

As shown in FIG. 4, a pocket made of washable fabric is provided spanning through the length of the mattress protector 6, at the side of the pocket a plastic zipper spanning throughout the length of the same pocket is provided for inserting the foam wedge, just open the zipper 7 and insert the foam wedge. If the user wants to replace or wash the mattress protector, then just open the zipper 7 and remove the foam. For tightly fitting the foam wedge 3 inside the pocket snap fastener also can be offered. Replacing the mattress protector 6 is also easy, just release the corner straps 4, then release the side straps 5 by unfastening the side release buckles. The removable foam wedge offers numerous advantages for users, It enables long-term hygiene by allowing the mattress protector to be easily separated from the foam wedge and washed in a washing machine. Additionally, users can choose the mattress protector of their desired fabric and color at a lower cost. The foam wedge that fills the gaps can also be replaced separately to fit the gap size and height, offering a cost-effective and customization solution.
