BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The instant invention is a carrying case for a cap and glasses for use when traveling.

Caps and hats have been modified over the last several years to accommodate those with a need to carry additional items when traveling.

For example, in U.S. publication 2006/0206985 that published on Sep. 2, 2006, discloses a headwear visor storage system. The storage pouch is releasably coupled to the visor of a cap via a releasable coupling system. The patentee notes that this device is a modification of a standard fabric hat.

In U.S. Pat. No. 10,123,581, that issued to Lacy et. Al. on Nov. 13, 2018, there is shown a cap that has a slit in the crown to accept glasses or other small items. There is a coupling means on the interior of the pocket formed from the slit.

U.S. Patent publication 2023/0157398 that published on May 25, 2023, discloses an accessory bracket for attaching accessories to the outside of protective equipment.

None of these prior art publications disclose or make obvious the device of the instant invention.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Thus, what is disclosed herein is a travel carrying case, the case comprising a base having a top surface and a bottom surface and there is surmounted rigidly on the base, a skull. The skull has a back half and a front half, wherein the back half is rigidly mounted on the base. The front half is attached at a top of the back half by a hinge. The skull has a hollow interior. The bottom surface of the base has an elongated covered opening wherein the cover is hingedly attached to the bottom surface of the base.

In another embodiment, there is a perforated tab securely attached to a bottom edge of the base.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Turning now to FIG. 1, which is a view in perspective from the side of a device of this invention, there is shown a device 1 of this invention which is a carrying case for glasses and caps that can be used for travel.

There is shown a top portion consisting of a cap 2 and a skull 3 in which the two are hinged together with a hinge 4. The skull 3 is rigidly mounted to a base 5 and the cap 2 is not attached to the base 5 except through the use of the hinge 4. Otherwise, the cap 2 can be raised to access the interior of the device 1.

The base 5 has a bottom 6 (FIG. 5) and the bottom 6 has an opening 7 in it. This opening forms a compartment 8 for the storage of glasses (glasses not shown). The opening 7 has a hingeable cover, the hinge shown as 9, the cover shown as 10. There is a latch 11 that holds the cover 10 in place. The hinge 9 is attached to the bottom surface 6 of the base 5.

As noted Supra, the cap 2 and the skull 3 are hinged together. In use, one raises the cap 2 and inserts a hat or a baseball type cap. It should be noted that the skull 3 has an elongated end 14 that will accommodate a billed cap.

FIG. 2 is a view in perspective from the back of a device of this invention and has the cap removed to show the container 8 inside the interior of the device.

FIG. 3 is a view in perspective from the side of the skull portion of the device of FIG. 1 and FIG. 4 is a view in perspective of FIG. 3 with the compartment 8 opened to show the compartment 8 for glasses, on the interior. It should be noted that the base 5 is not shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

There is a perforated tab 13 shown in FIG. 5 that is used to attach the device 1 to a person or luggage.

In use, one can store a cap and glasses in the device 1 and know that they will not be lost or damaged, and convenient to the owner.

The device 1 can be manufactured from plastic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, vinyl, ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, cross-linked polyethylene, and the like.

The device 1 can also be manufactured from metal such as aluminum and can be manufactured from composite materials.

The size of the device 1 depends on convenience and the preferred dimensions for the device are about 8 inches to 12 inches long and from 4 to 10 inches wide with the height especially useful at about 4 to 6 inches.

Color of the device is not essential and can be manufactured in any reasonable color.
