Liposomal curcumin for treatment of cancer
A new method has been developed to treat cancer, such as pancreatic, breast, and melanoma cancers, in humans. This method uses curcumin or a similar compound enclosed in a special drug delivery system called liposomes. Liposomes are tiny structures that can carry the curcumin directly to the cancer cells. Other similar drug delivery systems like nanoparticles or microparticles can also be used. The curcumin-filled liposomes are given to patients through injections with a safe carrier substance. This invention aims to provide a more effective treatment for cancers that are currently difficult to manage, like pancreatic cancer, where traditional treatments have limited success rates.
