Composite Staple for Completing an Anastomosis

An anastomosis staple comprising of a plurality of vessel engaging members and a binding structure holding the vessel engaging members together is described. The binding structure has at least one bioabsorbable element. The binding structure is rigid enough to allow for deployment and quickly resorbs to avoid problems associated with intimal hyperplasia and physical hindrance of secondary interventional procedures. The vessel engaging members may be comprised of superelastic or shape memory metal and are independent from one another. The members may be equidistant from one another and embedded within the binding structure. The composite staple can preferably serve as a drug delivery vehicle.

Gateway server

A method and apparatus for interfacing a client using a first communication protocol with a distributed file system using a second communication protocol is described. The apparatus has a client interface and a file system driver. The client interface communicates with the client using the first communication protocol. The file system driver is coupled to the client interface and receives a communication from the client using the first communication protocol. The file system driver communicates with the distributed file system using the second communication protocol. Files in the distributed file system are divided and stored amongst distinct physical storage locations.

Email and discussion forum system

Systems, methods, and media associated with coordinating a discussion forum application and an email application are described. One example system includes a data store and a coordination logic. The data store may store a discussion forum message in a data structure accessible to both an email logic and a discussion forum logic. The coordination logic may provide access to the discussion forum message for the email logic and the discussion forum logic. The coordination logic may also maintain read status consistency for the discussion forum message and cause threading information associated with the discussion forum message to be honored.

Bipolar forceps having monopolar extension

An endoscopic forceps for treating tissue includes a housing having a shaft affixed thereto which has first and second jaw members attached to a distal end thereof. The forceps also includes an actuator for moving jaw members relative to one another from a first position wherein the jaw members are disposed in spaced relation relative to one another to a second position wherein the jaw members cooperate to grasp tissue therebetween. Each of the jaw members is adapted to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy such that the jaw members are selectively capable of operating in a bipolar mode which enables the jaw members to conduct bipolar energy through tissue held therebetween to treat tissue. The forceps also includes a monopolar element housed within the first jaw member and integrally associated with the knife. The monopolar element is selectively movable from a first position within the first jaw member to a second position distal to the first jaw member. The monopolar element is adapted to connect to the source of electrosurgical energy such that the monopolar element is selectively activateable independent of the bipolar mode.

Exhaust apparatus configured to reduce particle contamination in a deposition system

A method and system for vapor deposition on a substrate that disposes a substrate in a process space of a processing system that is isolated from a transfer space of the processing system, processes the substrate at either of a first position or a second position in the process space while maintaining isolation from the transfer space, and deposits a material on said substrate at either the first position or the second position. Furthermore, the system includes a high conductance exhaust apparatus configured to be coupled to the process space, whereby particle contamination of the substrate processed in the deposition system is minimized. The exhaust apparatus comprises a pumping system located above the substrate and an evacuation duct, wherein the evacuation duct has an inlet located below the substrate plane.

Sealing device and method for a processing system

A method, computer readable medium, and system for treating a substrate in a process space of a processing system that is vacuum isolated from a transfer space of the processing system is described. A sealing device is disposed between a first chamber assembly configured to define the process space and a second chamber assembly configured to define the transfer space. When the sealing device is engaged, vacuum isolation is provided between the process space and the transfer space. The sealing device comprises two or more contact ridges with one or more pockets formed therebetween. When the sealing device is engaged between the first chamber assembly and the second chamber assembly, gas is trapped in the one or more pockets. This trapped gas assists the release of the sealing device upon disengagement of the sealing device between the first chamber assembly and the second chamber assembly.

Low temperature CVD process with selected stress of the CVD layer on CMOS devices

Device-enhancing coatings are deposited on CMOS devices by successively masking with photoresist each one of the sets of N-channel and P-channel devices while unmasking or leaving unmasked the other set, and after each step of successively masking one of the sets of devices, carrying out low temperature CVD steps with a toroidal RF plasma current while applying an RF plasma bias voltage. The temperature of the workpiece is held below a threshold photoresist removal temperature. The RF bias voltage is held at a level at which the coating is deposited with a first stress when the unmasked set consists of the P-channel devices and with a second stress when the unmasked set consists of N-channel devices.
