Endoscope system
An endoscope system has an driving-section for driving an insertion-section having an instrument. The driving-section is supported by a pivoting section rotatively. The driving-section has two rollers facing each other. The insertion-section is disposed between the rollers. The insertion-section is extended or retracted by rotating the rollers if the rollers are disposed with respect to the extension/retraction direction. If the pivoting section is pivoted to be orthogonal to the extension/retraction direction, the insertion-section rotates around its axial line by the rotation of the rollers. By doing this, it is possible to rotate the instrument easily in the endoscope system for extending/retracting the instrument by electric power.

Manipulator for medical use
In a manipulator, an actuator block contains motors and rotary shafts extending from the motors. A working unit of the manipulator contains a connecting portion, attachable to and detachable from the actuator block. The connecting portion has pulleys connectable to ends of the rotary shafts, and has a locking plate movable by alignment pins. The locking plate has slits, which are engaged with plate-shaped portions formed on the upper ends of the pulleys. A coil spring is placed between the locking plate and a top plate.

Secure authentication and payment system
The present invention provides a service for allowing secure financial transactions to be carried out, the service involving authenticating a user's identity and/or status as part of a financial transaction with another party and in the event that the user is authenticated arranging for the transaction to be completed without revealing the user's financial details and/or other personal details to that other party. Authentication data and transaction data may be communicated over any suitable communications channel(s). The invention provides a trusted authentication and payment environment that protects a user's financial details, but allows them to be securely authenticated and arranges for transactions to be fulfilled, while providing other parties with reassurance that transactions will be completed. In this way, fraud and theft due to misappropriation of financial details can be minimized.

Vapor deposition of metal carbide films
Methods of forming metal carbide thin films are provided. According to preferred embodiments, metal carbide thin films are formed in an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process by alternately and sequentially contacting a substrate in a reaction space with spatially and temporally separated vapor phase pulses of a metal source chemical, a reducing agent and a carbon source chemical. The reducing agent is preferably selected from the group consisting of excited species of hydrogen and silicon-containing compounds.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED MULTI-GAS DISTRIBUTION ASSEMBLY
An apparatus and method for a gas distribution plate is provided. The gas distribution plate has a first manifold which includes a plurality of concentric channels for providing at least two distinct gases to a processing zone above a substrate. A portion of the plurality of channels perform a thermal control function and are separated from the remaining channels, which provide separated gas flow channels within the gas distribution plate. The gas flow channels are in fluid communication with a second manifold which includes a plurality of concentric rings. Apertures formed in the rings are in fluid communication with the gas flow channels and the processing zone. The gases are provided to the processing zone above the substrate, and do not mix within the gas distribution plate.

Starting up at least one virtual machine in a physical machine by a load balancer
A system has plural physical machines that contain virtual machines. A load balancer receives a request from a client. In response to the request, it is determined whether at least one additional virtual machine should be started up. In response to determining that at least one additional virtual machine should be started up, the load balancer sends at least one command to start up the at least one additional virtual machine in at least one of the physical machines.

VORTEX CHAMBER LIDS FOR ATOMIC LAYER DEPOSITION
Embodiments of the invention relate to apparatuses and methods for depositing materials on substrates during atomic layer deposition processes. In one embodiment, a chamber for processing substrates is provided which includes a chamber lid assembly containing an expanding channel at a central portion of the chamber lid assembly, wherein an upper portion of the expanding channel extends substantially parallel along a central axis of the expanding channel, and an expanding portion of the expanding channel tapers away from the central axis. The chamber lid assembly further contains a conduit coupled to a gas inlet, another conduit coupled to another gas inlet, and both gas inlets are positioned to provide a circular gas flow through the expanding channel. In one example, the inner surface within the upper portion of the expanding channel has a lower mean surface roughness than the inner surface within the expanding portion of the expanding channel.

Controlled composition using plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition
Metallic-compound films are formed by plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD). According to preferred methods, film or thin film composition is controlled by selecting plasma parameters to tune the oxidation state of a metal (or plurality of metals) in the film. In some embodiments, plasma parameters are selected to achieve metal-rich metallic-compound films. The metallic-compound films can be components of gate stacks, such as gate electrodes. Plasma parameters can be selected to achieve a gate stack with a predetermined work function.

Work holding mechanism
A work holding mechanism for horizontally holding a flat work is incorporated in work transport equipment. The holding mechanism includes a base member for supporting the work and a plurality of guide members provided at the base member. Each guide member includes a shaft, a contact portion and a limit portion. The shaft is pivotally supported by the base member. The contact portion comes into contact with part of the lower surface of the perimeter of the work and is pushed down, with the shaft as a fulcrum, when the work is placed on the base member. The limit portion is raised, with the shaft as a fulcrum, to face part of the side surface of the perimeter of the work when the contact portion is lowered.

Surgical stapler with universal articulation and tissue pre-clamp
A tool assembly for a surgical stapling device includes a channel member for supporting a staple cartridge therein and an anvil to deform a plurality of staples ejected from the staple cartridge thereagainst. The tool assembly also includes a sled which is movable to force the staples from the cartridge against the anvil to staple tissue disposed between the anvil and the staple cartridge. A dynamic clamping member is included which has a pin which movably engages the anvil and a flange which movably engages the channel assembly. The dynamic clamping member is mounted to and movable with the sled. The pin and the flange of the dynamic clamping member cooperating to oppose the forces associated with clamping and stapling tissue and also to maintain a substantially uniform gap between the anvil and the staple cartridge during stapling of the tissue.
