Surgical stapler having an articulation mechanism

An articulation mechanism for use with a surgical instrument includes a shaft, a first member disposed in mechanical cooperation with the articulation shaft, a second member disposed in mechanical cooperation with the shaft, and a flexible shaft having proximal and distal portions. The flexible member is operatively coupled to the first and second members. Upon rotation of the articulation shaft, at least one of the first and the second members moves longitudinally with respect to the other of the first and second members between a first position where the first and second members are approximated to each other and a second position where the first and second members are spaced apart from each other. This longitudinal motion causes the distal portion of the flexible member to articulate relative to the proximal portion.

Smart access to a dispersed data storage network

An improved system for accessing data within a distributed data storage network (“DDSN”) is disclosed. In a system implementing the disclosed invention, traffic is routed to individual slice servers within the DDSN in accordance with objective criteria as well as user-defined policies. In accordance with one aspect of the disclosed invention, when a data segment is written to a DDSN, the segment is divided into multiple data slices, which are simultaneously transmitted to different slice servers. In accordance with another aspect of the disclosed invention, when a data segment is read from a DDSN, a list of slice servers, each containing a data slice that could be used to reconstruct the requested data segment, is assembled, and sorted in accordance with a preference rating assigned to each of the slice servers. Sufficient data slices to reconstruct the data segment are then read in accordance with the preference ranking of the slice servers.

Vasculature and lymphatic system imaging and ablation associated with a reservoir

In an embodiment, a system includes one or one or more reservoirs responsive to control circuitry for receiving target(s) associated with one or more blood or lymph vessel of a subject. The system includes one or more first energy source associated with the one or more reservoirs for providing energy to elicit image response(s) associated with the target(s). The system includes one or more sensors associated with the one or more reservoirs for capturing the image response(s). Control circuitry is provided and coupled to the sensors for at least partially identifying the target(s) based at least partially on the captured image response(s) during an expected transit time of the target(s) through a detection area. Attachment unit(s) responsive to the control circuitry are provided for attaching the one or more reservoirs to the blood or lymph vessel.
