Surgical stapling instrument
A surgical stapler can comprise an anvil comprising a staple pocket formed in a tissue contacting surface. The staple pocket can comprise a midline or centerline, a first forming cup, and a second forming cup. The first forming cup can comprise a first interior sidewall comprising a first vertical portion which is substantially perpendicular to the tissue contacting surface. The second forming cup can comprise a second interior sidewall comprising a second vertical portion which is substantially perpendicular to the tissue contacting surface. The first vertical portion and the second vertical portion can extend through the centerline, wherein the first interior sidewall and the second interior sidewall can comprise a trap for deforming a first staple leg of a staple to a first side of the centerline and for deforming a second staple leg of the staple to a second side of the centerline.

Direct current motor with independently driven and switchable stators
An apparatus and method are provided for adjusting torque and speed of a motor, while remaining within the voltage limit of a power supply. The invention provides a brushless direct current motor with independently driven and switchable stators. In an aspect, each stator and the rotor is structured to function as an independent motor separate from another stator and the rotor. A first power electronics directs energy to a first stator, and a second power electronics directs energy to a second stator. A rotor rotates relative to the stators. In an aspect, a commutation electronics determines electrical position of the rotor relative to the stators, and synchronizes current pulses directed to a sequentially selected phase of the stators, to generate a rotating magnetic field that communicates with the rotor. A controller sets the connection of the first power electronics in series or in parallel with the second power electronics.

Articulable electrosurgical instrument with a stabilizable articulation actuator
Embodiments of the technology provide an articulable electrosurgical instrument and methods of performing electrosurgery with an articulating capability. The electrosurgical instrument includes an elongated shaft having an end effector associated with a distal end thereof that is able to deliver energy to a target tissue site. An articulable joint is positioned between that shaft and the end effector. Articulation of the articulable joint is controlled by a stabilizable articulation actuator, which may include a rotatably stabilizable disk residing within a well. The end effector may take the form of forceps including an upper and a lower jaw; the jaws are configured to grasp target tissue and to deliver energy, such as radiofrequency energy. In some of these instruments, the end effector is adapted to seal tissue by the application of radiofrequency energy, and then to cut through the sealed tissue portion.

DC brushless motor drive circuit with speed variable-voltage
For the present invention, under various running speeds statuses, the voltage supplied to the DC brushless motor is relatively increased or decreased on the basis of the internal setting of the motor drive control device according to the increased or decreased rotational output speed, so as to prevent the shortcoming of too much variation of the input impedance caused by the inductive reactance of the winding accordingly changed when the speed of the DC brushless motor is changed, specifically, to prevent the shortcoming of unable producing required torque resulting from the increased inductive reactance caused by increasing the rotational speed which makes the current value become too low when input by the original working voltage.

Inhaler
The present disclosure relates to an inhaler component for producing a steam/air mixture or/and condensation aerosol in an intermittent and inhalation- or pull-synchronous manner, the inhaler component including: a housing; a chamber arranged in the housing; an air inlet opening for the supply of air from the surroundings to the chamber; an electrical heating element for evaporating a portion of a liquid material; and a wick having a capillary structure, which wick forms a composite structure with the heating element and automatically supplies the heating element with fresh liquid material after evaporation.

Mobile systems and methods of supporting natural language human-machine interactions
A mobile system is provided that includes speech-based and non-speech-based interfaces for telematics applications. The mobile system identifies and uses context, prior information, domain knowledge, and user specific profile data to achieve a natural environment for users that submit requests and/or commands in multiple domains. The invention creates, stores and uses extensive personal profile information for each user, thereby improving the reliability of determining the context and presenting the expected results for a particular question or command. The invention may organize domain specific behavior and information into agents, that are distributable or updateable over a wide area network.

Wellness analysis system
A wellness analyzer is in communications with sensors that generate real-time physiological data from a patient. The wellness analyzer is also in communications with databases that provide non-real-time information relevant to a medical-related assessment of the patient. In a diagnostic mode, a monitor layer inputs the sensor data and adjunct layers input the database information. Adjunct layer logic blocks process the database information so as to output supplemental information to the monitor. Monitor logic blocks process the sensor data and the supplemental information so as to generate a wellness output. In a simulation mode, a simulator generates at least one parameter and the monitor generates a predictive wellness output accordingly.

System and method for providing an acoustic grammar to dynamically sharpen speech interpretation
The system and method described herein may provide an acoustic grammar to dynamically sharpen speech interpretation. In particular, the acoustic grammar may be used to map one or more phonemes identified in a user verbalization to one or more syllables or words, wherein the acoustic grammar may have one or more linking elements to reduce a search space associated with mapping the phonemes to the syllables or words. As such, the acoustic grammar may be used to generate one or more preliminary interpretations associated with the verbalization, wherein one or more post-processing techniques may then be used to sharpen accuracy associated with the preliminary interpretations. For example, a heuristic model may assign weights to the preliminary interpretations based on context, user profiles, or other knowledge and a probable interpretation may be identified based on confidence scores associated with one or more candidate interpretations generated with the heuristic model.
