System and method for robotic surgery
In one embodiment, a robotic surgery system comprises a handheld manipulator configured to be manually moved in a global coordinate system relative to the bone, the handheld manipulator comprising a bone cutting tool comprising an end effector portion, a frame assembly, and a motion compensation assembly movably coupled to the frame assembly and bone cutting tool. A controller may be operatively coupled to the manipulator and configured to operate one or more actuators within the frame assembly to cause the motion compensation assembly to automatically move relative to the frame assembly to defeat aberrant movement of the bone cutting tool that would place the end effector portion of the tool out of a desired bone cutting envelope that is based at least in part upon one or more images of the bone, while allowing the bone cutting tool to continue cutting one or more portions of the bone.

Mesh fixation system
A mesh fixation system is disclosed including a plurality of elongate members and each elongate member includes a plurality of longitudinally extending support members. Each support member is connected to an adjacent support member by a plurality of connecting members and the elongate member defines at least one opening extending therethrough between adjacent support members and adjacent connecting members. The mesh fixation system further includes a plurality of legs extending from each support member. The plurality of legs is adapted for insertion through a mesh and into a body tissue to secure the mesh to the body tissue.

Tool attachment
A tool attachment for mounting on a hand-held machine tool provided with a tool holder, the tool attachment having an output shaft and a base body at whose outer circumference a locking sleeve is disposed in a manner allowing it to rotate to release at least one assigned locking element; at the outer circumference of the base body, an anti-rotation unit is formed for the twist-proof mounting of the base body on a fastening unit assigned to the hand-held machine tool; on the anti-rotation unit and at an inner circumference of the fastening unit, complementary geometrical forms are provided which are configured to mesh with each other for the releasable, twist-proof mounting of the base body on the fastening unit.

Surgical stapling apparatus
A surgical stapler includes an anvil assembly and a cartridge assembly. The anvil assembly defines staple forming depressions. One or both of the anvil assembly and the cartridge assembly are pivotable relative to the other between an open position and a clamped position. The cartridge assembly includes a first plurality of staples and a second plurality of staples. The first plurality of staples is initially positioned in alignment with the staple forming depressions of the anvil assembly for ejection from the cartridge assembly. The second plurality of staples is movably supported in the cartridge assembly from a first position misaligned with the staple forming depressions of the anvil assembly to a second position aligned with the staple forming depressions for subsequent ejection from the cartridge assembly.

Motion sensitive and capacitor powered handheld device
A handheld device includes an electronic instrument and a capacitive power supply for storing and delivering power to the electronic instrument. The capacitive power supply includes at least one capacitor, and an electronic circuit operable to boost a voltage from the capacitor to a higher voltage for use by the electronic instrument. The capacitive power supply can be rapidly recharged. Some configurations include an accelerometer which permits the handheld device to detect movement and perform various operations responsive to detected movement. A dual charging station is also disclosed.

MODULAR TOOL APPARATUS AND METHOD
A modular tool apparatus is provided having a handle defining a cannula extending at least partially therethrough and an elastic member disposed therein. The apparatus further provides a separate tool shaft configured to be releasably engaged with the handle by insertion into the cannula. The tool shaft comprises a plurality of teeth configured for ratcheting engagement with the elastic member when the tool shaft is inserted into the cannula. In some embodiments, the cannula extends completely through the handle from a proximal end to a distal end thereof to facilitate cleaning of the handle and separable tool shaft.

Surgical staple with augmented compression area
A multi-part surgical staple assembly is provided to provide uniform compression across stapled tissues. The staple assembly generally includes a U-shaped staple, a staple plate positionable against a backspan of the staple for engagement with one side of a stapled tissue section and a platen for receipt of tissue penetrating tips of the staple and engageable with an opposite side of a stapled tissue section. The staple plate and platen are provided with holes to receive the legs of the staple. In one embodiment, the staple plate is provided with a biasing member to bias the staple plate away from the backspan of the staple and toward the stapled tissue.
