Techniques for cutting and coagulating tissue for ultrasonic surgical instruments

Various forms are directed to a method for operating an ultrasonic surgical instrument. The ultrasonic surgical instrument may be activated by generating a drive signal provided to the ultrasonic drive system to drive the end effector. A plurality of input variables may be applied to a multi-variable model to generate a multi-variable model output, where the multi-variable model output corresponds to an effect of the ultrasonic instrument on tissue. The plurality of input variables may comprise at least one variable describing the drive signal and at least one variable describing a property of the ultrasonic surgical instrument. When the multi-variable model output reaches a threshold value, feedback may be generated indicating a corresponding state of at least one of the ultrasonic surgical instrument and tissue acted upon by the ultrasonic surgical instrument.

Apparatus and methods for low-cost intravascular ultrasound imaging and for crossing severe vascular occlusions

An intravascular ultrasound catheter system is provided and enables a simplified, economical technique for ultrasound visualization of a blood vessel. The catheter may include a park ablation system for crossing chronic total occlusions and severe stenoses. The catheter is advanceable and is oriented entirely under manual control of the clinician and the application of radiofrequency energy for spark erosion of the stenosis also is controlled manually by the clinician. The system enables the clinician to observe an ultrasound image sufficiently to determine where to orient the ablation electrode so as to reduce the risk of dissection or perforation of the blood vessel. The ultrasound image is generated in response to manual rotation of the catheter and the ablation spark is generated only when the physician is satisfied as to the orientation of the electrode within the vessel.

Surgical stapler with timer and feedback display

A surgical apparatus has a clamp and a stapling mechanism. The clamp has a first jaw and a second jaw to clamp on a body tissue at a desired location for a stapling operation. The stapling mechanism is controlled by a trigger handle or a switch assembly. The surgical apparatus has a controller for providing a delay between clamping and actuating of the firing mechanism of the stapling mechanism. The delay provides for a desired amount of time for tissue compression producing a more uniform staple formation. The surgical apparatus also has an indicator. The indicator provides feedback about the status of the stapling mechanism and also displays a time of tissue compression by the clamp.

NONINVASIVE PHYSIOLOGICAL SENSOR COVER

A sensor cover according to embodiments of the disclosure is capable of being used with a noninvasive physiological sensor, such as a pulse oximetry sensor. Certain embodiments of the sensor cover reduce or eliminate false readings from the sensor when the sensor is not in use, for example, by blocking a light detecting component of a pulse oximeter sensor when the pulse oximeter sensor is active but not in use. In certain embodiment, the sensor cover has a pattern that allows it to be more easily seen on a surface such as a floor. Further, embodiments of the sensor cover prevent contamination of the sensor. Additionally, embodiments of the sensor cover can prevent damage to the sensor.

Systems and methods for threat identification and remediation

Instrumented networks and platforms having target subjects (devices, transactions, services, users, organizations) are disclosed. A security orchestration service generates runtime operational integrity profiles representing and identifying a level of threat or contextual trustworthiness, at near real time, of subjects and applications on the instrumented target platform. Systems and methods for threat identification and remediation for computing platforms based upon reconnaissance-based intelligence correlation and network/application monitoring are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method provides runtime operational integrity of a system by receiving: a dynamic context including endpoint events; and network endpoint assessments. The method generates temporal events based on the network endpoint assessments and correlates the endpoint events and temporal events before generating an integrity profile for the system. In another embodiment, flow level remediation is provided to isolate infected or compromised systems from a computing network fabric using a network trust agent, an endpoint trust agent, and a trust orchestrator.

Volume dimensioning systems and methods

Systems and methods for volume dimensioning packages are provided. A method of operating a volume dimensioning system may include the receipt of image data of an area at least a first three-dimensional object to be dimensioned from a first point of view as captured using at least one image sensor. The system can determine from the received image data a number of features in three dimensions of the first three-dimensional object. Based at least on part on the determined features of the first three-dimensional object, the system can fit a first three-dimensional packaging wireframe model about the first three-dimensional object. The system can display of an image of the first three-dimensional packaging wireframe model fitted about an image of the first three-dimensional object on a display device.

External reader for device management

A system for tracking use of a medical device including an electrosurgical generator, a readable module and a read module. The electrosurgical generator is configured to selectively deliver an electrosurgical energy signal to an electrosurgical delivery device connected to the electrosurgical generator. The readable module is connected to the electrosurgical delivery device and configured to uniquely identify the electrosurgical delivery device. The read module is in communication with the electrosurgical generator that identifies the read module, the read module configured to identify the readable module and further configured to determine the viability of the electrosurgical delivery device. Delivery of electrosurgical energy to the electrosurgical delivery device is enabled by the read module if the electrosurgical delivery device is a viable device.

Semiconductor device dielectric interface layer

Embodiments related to methods for forming a film stack on a substrate are provided. One example method comprises exposing the substrate to an activated oxygen species and converting an exposed surface of the substrate into a continuous monolayer of a first dielectric material. The example method also includes forming a second dielectric material on the continuous monolayer of the first dielectric material without exposing the substrate to an air break.
