Surgical adapter assemblies for use between surgical handle assembly and surgical end effectors
An adapter assembly is provided for selectively interconnecting a surgical end effector that is configured to perform a function and a surgical device that is configured to actuate the end effector, the end effector including at least one axially translatable drive member, and the surgical device including at least one rotatable drive shaft. The adapter assembly includes at least one drive converter assembly including a drive shaft; a drive coupling nut threadably connected to a distal end portion of the drive shaft; and an axially translatable drive bar connected to the drive coupling nut, wherein rotation of the drive shaft results in axial translation of the drive bar. The drive coupling nut engages 29 teeth of the threaded distal end portion of the drive shaft. The drive coupling nut is manufactured from unreinforced PEEK thermoplastic polymer.

Ultrasonic surgical instruments
An ultrasonic surgical instrument is provided. The ultrasonic surgical instrument includes a housing having an elongated shaft extending therefrom. The shaft has a jaw member disposed at a distal end thereof. The jaw member is movable between an open configuration and a clamping configuration and includes a tissue contacting surface thereon. A cutting blade extends from a distal end of the shaft and operably couples to the housing and adjacent the jaw member to treat tissue. At least one sensor is configured to sense at least one operational parameter of the ultrasonic surgical instrument. At least one controller in operable communication with the at least one sensor is configured to terminate delivery of ultrasonic energy to the cutting blade when the at least one sensor senses the at least one operational parameter.

In various embodiments, an end effector for cutting and stapling tissue is disclosed. The end effector comprises a first jaw and a second jaw, wherein one of the first jaw and the second jaw comprises a plurality of staple cavities arranged in a plurality of curved staple cavity rows, wherein the second jaw is moveable relative to the first jaw between an open orientation and a closed orientation, and wherein the second jaw tilts and pivots toward the first jaw when the second jaw moves between the open orientation and the closed orientation. Device and method for controlling compression of tissue
A method and device for controlling the compression of tissue include clamping tissue between a first clamping member and a second clamping member by driving at least one of the clamping members with an electric motor toward a predetermined tissue gap between the clamping members and, during the clamping, monitoring a parameter of the electric motor indicative of a clamping force exerted to the tissue by the clamping members. The method and device include, during the clamping, controlling the electric motor, based on the monitored parameter, to limit the clamping force to a predetermined maximum limit.

An ultrasonic surgical instrument is provided. The ultrasonic surgical instrument includes a housing having an elongated shaft extending therefrom. Dual-mode patient monitor
A portable patient monitor has an integrated mode in which it operates as a plug-in module for a multiparameter patient monitoring system (MPMS). The patient monitor also has a portable mode in which it operates separately from the MPMS as a battery-powered handheld or standalone instrument. The patient monitor has a sensor port that receives a signal indicative of physiological parameters as input to an internal processor. The patient monitor processes this sensor signal to derive patient measurements. In the portable mode, this information is provided on its display. In the integrated mode, the patient monitor provides patient measurements to the MPMS to be displayed on a MPMS monitor.
