The first vertical portion and the second vertical portion can extend through the centerline, wherein the first interior sidewall and the second interior sidewall can comprise a trap for deforming a first staple leg of a staple to a first side of the centerline and for deforming a second staple leg of the staple to a second side of the centerline.

The method includes the step of placing the opposed first and second leg members around a tissue to be ligated, and deforming the opposed first and second leg members towards each other. The method further comprises releasing the first and second leg members to cause a separation of the first and second leg members, wherein the separation is less than the total of thickness of the compliant portion and the thickness of the tissue within the first and second leg members.

Human interface and device for ultrasound guided treatment

A system and method for providing real-time, image-guided high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) targeting and treatment of tissue. In one embodiment, the system includes an HIFU applicator and a user interface with a touchscreen display for three-dimensional visualization of the tissue. Image frames displayed on the user interface depict real-time images of the tissue, including an image parallel to a feature of the applicator and an image orthogonal to the parallel image. Reference lines may be sketched using the touchscreen and displayed on the image frames. In one embodiment, tissue boundaries are detected and marked on the image frames, either by the user or automatically by the system. In another embodiment, the user interface includes a footswitch for the user to interact with the system. In another embodiment, the system includes an ultrasound imaging component configured to undock from the system for use as a stand-alone ultrasound imaging device.

Customizable storage controller with integrated F+ storage firewall protection

A Customizable Storage Controller (CSC) is a software defined storage device controller, a replacement for the ASIC storage controller approach that has been used up to now. The differences from the current storage controllers are that the CSC software will need to be protected from unauthorized modification and provides an excellent place to add additional storage management functionality. The CSC type of storage controller is a good place to integrate the F+ Storage Firewall storage protection technology, fitting the needs of the CSC as well as protecting stored data from unauthorized access. This portion of the larger patent disclosure provides the design of a CSC both with a software version of a F+ Storage Firewall, as well as an improved (more secure) CSC designed with a security co-processor and locked firmware. These designs can be implemented with standard parts such as microprocessors and/or FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), RAM (Random Access Memory), and some version of nonvolatile memory as a program store.
