Apparatus for endoscopic procedures
An electromechanical surgical system is provided including a hand-held surgical instrument; an end effector; and a shaft assembly for selectively interconnecting the end effector and the surgical device. The shaft assembly includes a transmission housing; an outer tubular body; a distal neck housing for interconnecting a rotatable drive member of the surgical instrument and a rotation receiving member supported in the end effector, wherein the distal neck housing includes at least one gear system configured to convert a rotational input of the rotatable drive member into at least two output forces to the end effector; and an articulating neck assembly interconnecting the tubular body and the distal neck housing. The articulating neck assembly enables off-axis articulation of the distal neck assembly, and wherein the rotatable drive member extends through the articulating neck assembly.

Multi-fire surgical stapling apparatus including safety lockout and visual indicator
A surgical stapling apparatus includes a cartridge assembly, a firing assembly, and a lockout assembly. The cartridge assembly is configured to house a plurality of sets of surgical fasteners. The firing assembly is configured for repeated actuation wherein, upon each actuation, the firing assembly is moved from a first position to a second position to at least partially eject a set of surgical fasteners. The firing assembly further configured to translate from the second position back to the first position to reset the firing assembly for subsequent actuation. The lockout assembly is configured to permit a predetermined number of actuations and is configured to transition from a first condition, wherein subsequent actuation is permitted, to a second condition, wherein subsequent actuation is inhibited, when a number of previous actuations of the firing assembly is equal to the predetermined number of actuations.

Medical instrument
A medical instrument includes a first grasping member and a second grasping member that approach and separate from each other, a rotating body that is rotatably installed on a rotation shaft fixed to the first grasping member, an open-close link whose first end is rotatably connected to a first rotation shaft provided on the second grasping member and whose second end is rotatably connected to a second rotation shaft provided on the rotating body at a distance from the rotation shaft, and a manipulating member rotating the rotating body. When the rotating body is rotated in a predetermined direction, the first grasping member and the second grasping member approach each other while the second rotation shaft approaches an imaginary straight line connecting axes of the rotation shaft and the first rotation shaft.

Surgical apparatus including surgical buttress
An end effector for a surgical stapling apparatus is provided which includes an anvil assembly and a surgical buttress. The anvil assembly includes an anvil body and an anvil plate. The anvil plate includes a bottom surface that defines a plurality of staple forming pockets. The anvil body and the anvil plate are selectively connectable. The surgical buttress includes a buttress body and a plurality of arms extending from the body. The arms are disposable between a top surface of the anvil plate and a bottom surface of the anvil body to support the buttress body against the bottom surface of the anvil plate when the anvil plate and the anvil body are connected to one another.

Surgical device
A surgical device including a first jaw and a second jaw is presented. The surgical device also includes a biasing element that biases the distal end of the first jaw towards the distal end of the second jaw. The device also includes a first driver disposed in the second jaw and coupled to the first jaw. The first driver is configured to cause separation of the first jaw and the second jaw. The device further includes at least one of a cutting element and a stapling element disposed within the second jaw, preferably a blade rotatably mounted on a wedge. A second driver is configured to move the cutting element and/or the stapling element proximally from a distal end toward the proximal end of the second jaw to at least one of cut and staple a section of tissue disposed between the first and second jaws.

AUGMENTED REALITY APPARATUS
Augmented reality apparatus (10) for use during intervention procedures on a trackable intervention site (32) are disclosed herein. The apparatus (10) comprises a data processor (28), a trackable projector (14) and a medium (30) including machine-readable instructions executable by the processor (28). The projector (14) is configured to project an image overlaying the intervention site (32) based on instructions from the data processor (28). The machine readable instructions are configured to cause the processor (28) to determine a spatial relationship between the projector (14) and the intervention site (32) based on a tracked position and orientation of the projector (14) and on a tracked position and orientation of the intervention site (32). The machine readable instructions are also configured to cause the processor to generate data representative of the image projected by the projector based on the determined spatial relationship between the projector and the intervention site.

Disk-based valve apparatus and method for the treatment of valve dysfunction
The present invention comprises a novel and safer mechanism of deployment using a self-positioning, self-centering, and self-anchoring method. To embody the present invention, a disk-based valve apparatus allowing the repositioning and retrieval of the implantable valve while working on a dysfunctional valve structure is disclosed. The disk-based valve apparatus may comprise one or more disks, either proximal or distal, a valve-housing component and a valve component. The one or more disks may be either proximal or distal, may be either connected to each other or disconnected from each other and may either be symmetrical or have different shapes and dimensions. The disk-based valve apparatus may be self anchoring, such as anchored by pressure from the one or more disk, or may be anchored using any anchoring.

Variable indication estimator
A variable indication estimator which determines an output value representative of a set of input data. For example, the estimator can reduce input data to estimates of a desired signal, select a time, and determine an output value from the estimates and the time. In one embodiment, the time is selected using one or more adjustable signal confidence parameters determine where along the estimates the output value will be computed. By varying the parameters, the characteristics of the output value are variable. For example, when input signal confidence is low, the parameters are adjusted so that the output value is a smoothed representation of the input signal. When input signal confidence is high, the parameters are adjusted so that the output value has a faster and more accurate response to the input signal.
