Apparatus for endoscopic procedures

An end effector includes a first jaw member, a second jaw member, a drive beam, and a drive screw. The second jaw member is pivotally movable relative to the first jaw member between an open position and a closed position. The drive beam is positioned to engage the second jaw member and is longitudinally movable through the first and second jaw members. The drive screw is supported within the first jaw member and includes a threaded portion coupled to the drive beam such that rotation of the drive screw imparts longitudinal movement of the drive beam along the second jaw member to move the first and second jaw members from the open position to the closed position.

Surgical instrument with modular motor

An apparatus for operating on tissue comprises a handpiece, an elongate shaft, an end effector, a firing beam, and a modular motor. The end effector has a pair of jaws configured to open and close upon tissue. The firing beam comprises a blade insert with a sharp edge operable to sever tissue captured within the end effector. The modular motor is insertable into the handpiece. The modular motor comprises a drive gear that engages a plurality of components disposed within the handpiece. Rotation of the drive gear drives longitudinal translation of the firing beam within the elongate shaft. Longitudinal translation of the firing beam opens and closes the jaws of the end effector relative to tissue. Longitudinal translation of the firing beam also severs tissue captured between closed jaws of the end effector.

System and method for detecting errors in interactions with a voice-based digital assistant

The method is performed at an electronic device with one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors. A speech input containing a request is received from a user. At least one action in furtherance of satisfying the request is performed. A user interaction is detected, such as a speech input to a digital assistant or a physical interaction with a device. It is determined whether the user interaction is indicative of a problem in the performing of the at least one action. Upon determining that the user interaction is indicative of a problem, information relating to the request is stored in a repository for error analysis.

Online modeling for real-time facial animation

Embodiments relate to a method for real-time facial animation, and a processing device for real-time facial animation. The method includes providing a dynamic expression model, receiving tracking data corresponding to a facial expression of a user, estimating tracking parameters based on the dynamic expression model and the tracking data, and refining the dynamic expression model based on the tracking data and estimated tracking parameters. The method may further include generating a graphical representation corresponding to the facial expression of the user based on the tracking parameters. Embodiments pertain to a real-time facial animation system.

Semiconductor device manufacturing method

A semiconductor device manufacturing method is provided that includes etching with a plasma a multilayer film including a first film and a second film with differing dielectric constants alternately stacked on a substrate using a photoresist layer arranged on the multilayer film as a mask, and forming the multilayer film into a stepped configuration. The semiconductor device manufacturing method includes repetitively performing a first step of etching the first film using the photoresist layer as the mask; a second step of adjusting a pressure within a processing chamber to 6-30 Torr, generating the plasma by applying a first high frequency power for biasing and a second high frequency power for plasma generation to the lower electrode, and etching the photoresist layer using the generated plasma; and a third step of etching the second film using the photoresist layer and the first film as the mask.

Method for filling recesses using pre-treatment with hydrocarbon-containing gas

A method for filling recesses of a substrate with an insulation film includes: (i) exposing surfaces of the recesses of the substrate to a pre-deposition gas in a reactive state in a reaction space to treat the surfaces with reactive hydrocarbons generated from the pre-deposition gas without filling the recesses; and (ii) depositing a flowable insulation film using a process gas other than the pre-deposition gas on a surface of the substrate to fill the recesses treated in step (i) therewith by plasma reaction. The pre-deposition gas has at least one hydrocarbon unit in its molecule.

Method of error correction for 3D imaging device

A method is presented for correcting errors in a 3D scanner. Measurement errors in the 3D scanner are determined by scanning each of a plurality of calibration objects in each of a plurality of sectors in the 3D scanner's field of view. The calibration objects have a known height, a known width, and a known length. The measurements taken by the 3D scanner are compared to the known dimensions to derive a measurement error for each dimension in each sector. An estimated measurement error is calculated based on scans of each of the plurality of calibration objects. When scanning target objects in a given sector, the estimated measurement error for that sector is used to correct measurements obtained by the 3D scanner.

Interpreting and acting upon commands that involve sharing information with remote devices

An electronic device with one or more processors and memory includes a procedure for sharing information with a third party recipient. In some embodiments, the device receives a speech input from a first user, the speech input specifying a second user different from the first user, and an information item to be shared with the second user. In response to the speech input, the device initiates a background process during which a digital assistant searches for the information item and causes the information item to be sent to the second user without further review and instruction from the first user.
