STAPLING HEAD ASSEMBLY AND SUTURING AND CUTTING APPARATUS FOR ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY

A stapling head assembly of a suturing and cutting apparatus for endoscopic surgery includes a cartridge, a cartridge support detachably connected to the cartridge, an actuating block including an unlocking component set movably in the cartridge, a cutter, and a lockout mechanism. The cutter is adapted to move longitudinally along the cartridge, between a first position and a second position. The mechanism includes a lockout block set in said cartridge support and transversely movable with respect to the support between third and fourth positions, and a flexible component set between the support and the lockout block and actuating the lockout block to move from the third to the fourth positions. When the flexible component is under compression, the cutter can move from the first to the second positions. After the actuating block is actuated, the lockout block moves to the fourth position under action of the flexible component.

Surgical apparatus with jaw force limiter

A forceps includes a first jaw member, a second jaw member, a drive rod assembly and a moveable handle attached to a fixed handle. The first jaw member and the second jaw member are in opposing relation relative to one another, and at least one of the first jaw member and the second jaw member is relatively movable from a first open position to a second clamping position when the first jaw member and the second jaw member cooperate to grasp tissue therebetween. Moving the moveable handle relative to the fixed handle moves the drive rod assembly for imparting movement of at least one of the first jaw member and the second jaw member from the first position and the second position. The moveable handle has an actuator with a lost motion connection between the first and second jaw members and the actuator.

Intelligent device arbitration and control

This relates to systems and processes for using a virtual assistant to arbitrate among and/or control electronic devices. In one example process, a first electronic device samples an audio input using a microphone. The first electronic device broadcasts a first set of one or more values based on the sampled audio input. Furthermore, the first electronic device receives a second set of one or more values, which are based on the audio input, from a second electronic device. Based on the first set of one or more values and the second set of one or more values, the first electronic device determines whether to respond to the audio input or forego responding to the audio input.

Digital assistant providing whispered speech

Systems and processes for detecting and/or providing a whispered speech response are provided. In one example process, speech is received from a user, and based on the speech input, determined that a whispered speech response is to be provided. Upon determining that a whispered speech response is to be provided, the whispered speech response is generated and provided to the user.

Selective deposition of metallic films

Metallic layers can be selectively deposited on one surface of a substrate relative to a second surface of the substrate. In some embodiments, the metallic layers are selectively deposited on a first metallic surface relative to a second surface comprising silicon. In some embodiments the reaction chamber in which the selective deposition occurs may optionally be passivated prior to carrying out the selective deposition process. In some embodiments selectivity of above about 50% or even about 90% is achieved.

Intelligent task discovery

This relates to systems and processes for operating an automated assistant to process messages. In one example process, an electronic device receives a communication including a text string and determines whether a portion of the text string is associated with a data type of a plurality of data types. The data type is associated with at least one task. In accordance with a determination that the portion of the text string is associated with the data type, the electronic device receives a user input indicative of a task of the at least one task, and in response, causes the task to be performed based on the portion of the text string. In accordance with a determination that the portion of the text string is not associated with the data type, the electronic device foregoes causing the task to be performed based on the portion of the text string.
