Stapling head assembly and suturing and cutting apparatus for endoscopic surgery

A stapling head assembly includes a cartridge support having a proximal end, a connecting tube, a cutter pushing rod, and a lockout mechanism. The tube includes a distal end connected to the proximal end. The rod is movably set inside the tube. The mechanism is connected to the tube, and includes a pressing block and a pushing block. The pressing block is used to lock the proximal end to prevent the rod from moving before the assembly is used. The pressing block is rotatable between a first position and a second position relative to the tube. The pushing block is used to push the pressing block to rotate from the first position towards the second position. The pushing block is located at one side of the pressing block, and is movable between a third position and a fourth position relative to the tube along a longitudinal direction.

Multiple thickness implantable layers for surgical stapling devices

A staple cartridge assembly includes a stepped staple cartridge deck and an implantable layer, such as a tissue thickness compensator and/or a buttress material, for example, positioned thereon. The layer can include a first portion positioned over a first deck surface of the multi-step staple cartridge and a second portion positioned over a second deck surface of the multi-step staple cartridge. The first portion includes a first tissue-contacting surface and the second portion includes a second tissue-contacting surface, wherein the first tissue-contacting surface is vertically offset from the second tissue-contacting surface.

TOOL ASSEMBLY FOR LEAK RESISTANT TISSUE DISSECTION

A tool assembly for leak resistant dissection of tissue includes an anvil and a cartridge housing a plurality of staples. The anvil and cartridge have a linear longitudinal portion and a transverse portion positioned distally of the longitudinal portion. The linear longitudinal portion of the cartridge and anvil assemblies is substantially longer than the curved distal portion. In use, when a surgical procedure is performed that requires a plurality of cutting operations, e.g., a gastrectomy procedure, the first cutting operation is performed to form a substantially linear cut line having a curved distal portion that curves towards a specimen side of the organ, e.g., the stomach. In each subsequent cutting operation, the proximal portion of the tool assembly is positioned with the existing cut line such that a termination point of the existing cut line is positioned on the specimen side of the tissue or organ being partially removed.

Touch sensor, touch detection device and detection method, and touch control apparatus

A touch sensor, a touch detection device and a detection method, and a touch control apparatus are provided. The touch sensor comprises a first electrode layer, a rigid insulating layer, a second electrode layer, a compressible layer, and a third electrode layer disposed successively The compressible layer may change the distance between the second electrode layer and the third electrode layer when subjected to a touch pressure. The second electrode layer and the third electrode layer may form a capacitor structure, and the capacitance value of the capacitor structure may vary with the distance between the second electrode layer and the third electrode layer. The pressure information of a user's touch operation can be calculated from the change of the capacitance value.

Persistent customized social media environment

One or more persistent customized social media environments are created allowing users to share content or an activity. The content or activity may comprise a shared media experience or shared participatory experience. Each user accessing the environment utilizes a device alone or in conjunction with other devices to complete a sharing experience. A persistent customized social media environment definition establishes a user environment which provides social networking services as well as content sharing and allows users who are connected to the persistent customized social media environment definition to experience instant messages, while those users who connect to the persistent customized social media environment at a later time will receive messages once they enter the environment.

Shaper for vertebral fixation rods

A system for rod bending for use in robotic spinal surgery, enabling the correct bending of a fusion rod to match the shape required to accurately pass through the heads of the pedicle screws. The system uses data generated by information provided to the robot by the surgeon's preoperative plan, optionally augmented by feedback from the robot control system of deviations encountered intraoperatively. Such deviations could occur, for example, when the surgeon decides intraoperatively on a different trajectory or even to skip screws on one vertebra, in which case, the robot will be commanded to perform the alternative procedure, with commensurate instructions relayed to the control system of the rod-bending machine. The system is also able to thin down the rod at predetermined locations along its length, adapted to be at selected intervertebral locations, for maintaining limited flexibility between vertebrae, instead of fixating them.

Congenital heart disease monitor

A congenital heart disease monitor utilizes a sensor capable of emitting multiple wavelengths of optical radiation into a tissue site and detecting the optical radiation after attenuation by pulsatile blood flowing within the tissue site. A patient monitor is capable of receiving a sensor signal corresponding to the detected optical radiation and calculating at least one physiological parameter in response. The physiological parameter is measured at a baseline site and a comparison site and a difference in these measurements is calculated. A potential congenital heart disease condition in indicated according to the measured physiological parameter at each of the sites or the calculated difference in the measured physiological parameter between the sites or both.

Navigation of tubular networks

Methods and apparatuses provide improved navigation through tubular networks such as lung airways by providing improved estimation of location and orientation information of a medical instrument (e.g., an endoscope) within the tubular network. Various input data such as image data, EM data, and robot data are used by different algorithms to estimate the state of the medical instrument, and the state information is used to locate a specific site within a tubular network and/or to determine navigation information for what positions/orientations the medical instrument should travel through to arrive at the specific site. Probability distributions together with confidence values are generated corresponding to different algorithms are used to determine the medical instrument's estimated state.
