Distributed machine learning systems, apparatus, and methods

A distributed, online machine learning system is presented. Contemplated systems include many private data servers, each having local private data. Researchers can request that relevant private data servers train implementations of machine learning algorithms on their local private data without requiring de-identification of the private data or without exposing the private data to unauthorized computing systems. The private data servers also generate synthetic or proxy data according to the data distributions of the actual data. The servers then use the proxy data to train proxy models. When the proxy models are sufficiently similar to the trained actual models, the proxy data, proxy model parameters, or other learned knowledge can be transmitted to one or more non-private computing devices. The learned knowledge from many private data servers can then be aggregated into one or more trained global models without exposing private data.

CVD Mo DEPOSITION BY USING MoOCl4

A method of forming a molybdenum-containing material on a substrate is described, in which the substrate is contacted with molybdenum oxytetrachloride (MoOCl4) vapor under vapor deposition conditions, to deposit the molybdenum-containing material on the substrate. In various implementations, a diborane contact of the substrate may be employed to establish favorable nucleation conditions for the subsequent bulk deposition of molybdenum, e.g., by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques such as pulsed CVD.

Respiration processor

Respiratory rate can be calculated from an acoustic input signal using time domain and frequency domain techniques. Confidence in the calculated respiratory rate can also be calculated using time domain and frequency domain techniques. Overall respiratory rate and confidence values can be obtained from the time and frequency domain calculations. The overall respiratory rate and confidence values can be output for presentation to a clinician.

Device location verification for updated map data

Systems and methods for verifying a device requesting map data is within an approved geographic boundary. The method includes receiving a request including a route hop count and a latency value calculated from the device to a network node. The route hop count and latency values are compared against threshold values. The device is determined to be within the approved geographic boundary based on the comparison.

Ultrasonic surgical instrument with AD HOC formed blade

A method of forming a component of an ultrasonic surgical instrument includes accessing a file including a digital model representing the component. The component includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal portion includes a contact portion. The distal portion includes an ultrasonic blade. The contact portion is configured to transmit ultrasonic vibrations to the ultrasonic blade when the component is acoustically coupled to a complementary portion of an acoustic waveguide of the ultrasonic surgical instrument. The file is used to fabricate the component via an additive manufacturing process. Once the component has been fabricated, the distal portion is secured to a distal end of the complementary portion of the acoustic waveguide.

Method for increasing cache size

A method for increasing storage space in a system containing a block data storage device, a memory, and a processor is provided. Generally, the processor is configured by the memory to tag metadata of a data block of the block storage device indicating the block as free, used, or semifree. The free tag indicates the data block is available to the system for storing data when needed, the used tag indicates the data block contains application data, and the semifree tag indicates the data block contains cache data and is available to the system for storing application data type if no blocks marked with the free tag are available to the system.

Voice detection by multiple devices

Disclosed herein are example techniques for voice detection by multiple NMDs. An example implementation may involve receiving a set of voice recordings from a set of NMDs, and identifying a subset of voice recordings from which to determine a given voice command. The example implementation may further involve causing the identified subset of voice recordings to be analyzed to determine the given voice command.
