Lockout assembly for linear surgical stapler

An apparatus includes a handle assembly, an end effector, a firing assembly, and a lockout assembly. The handle assembly includes first and second arms and a latching lever. The end effector includes first and second jaws and a staple cartridge. The firing assembly is configured to actuate from a pre-fired proximal position toward a distal position in order to staple and sever tissue captured between the first jaw and the second jaw. The lockout assembly is configured to prevent distal translation of the firing assembly in a locked configuration and allow distal translation of the firing assembly in an unlocked configuration. The latching lever is configured to actuate the lockout assembly from the locked configuration to the unlocked configuration in response to the latching lever pivoting the second jaw from a partially closed configuration to a fully closed configuration while the firing assembly is in the pre-fired proximal position.

Clamping mechanism for linear surgical stapler

A surgical stapler includes an anvil channel member, an anvil surface, and a cartridge channel member that releasably couples with the anvil channel member and includes a distal portion that receives a staple cartridge. The stapler further includes first and second latch features. The second latch feature moves between an open position and a closed position in which it engages the first latch feature and fixes the channel members together. A latch lockout member of the stapler is movable between a lockout state in which the lockout member locks the second latch feature in the open position, and a release state in which the lockout member permits the second latch feature to move to the closed position. The latch lockout member is configured to move from the lockout state to the release state in response to being engaged by the first latch feature.

Wrist architecture

A surgical device includes an elongated shaft, an end effector, and a wrist assembly. The wrist assembly includes a first outer link, a first inner link, and a second outer link. The first outer link is connected to the shaft and includes first gear teeth. The first inner link is pivotally coupled with the first outer link. The second outer link is pivotally coupled with the first inner link. The second outer link includes second gear teeth that interface with the first gear teeth and control orientation of the first inner link relative to the first outer link and the first outer link throughout a range of orientations of the wrist assembly.

Limb-worn patient monitoring device

The present disclosure describes example systems, methods, apparatuses, and medical devices for obtaining physiological parameter data from a wearable patient monitoring device. An example patient monitoring device can include an emitter and a detector. The emitter can emit light through tissue of a patient. The detector can sense the light after it passes through and is attenuated by the tissue and can generate a signal indicative of the sensed light. When the patient monitoring device is attached to or worn by the patient, the emitter and detector are aligned such that the light from the emitter travels through an opening between a first bone and a second bone of the patient prior to being sensed by the detector.

Method of post-deposition treatment for silicon oxide film

A method of post-deposition treatment for silicon oxide film includes: providing in a reaction space a substrate having a recess pattern on which a silicon oxide film is deposited; supplying a reforming gas for reforming the silicon oxide film to the reaction space in the absence of a film-forming precursor, said reforming gas being composed primarily of He and/or H2; and irradiating the reforming gas with microwaves in the reaction space having a pressure of 200 Pa or less to generate a direct microwave plasma to which the substrate is exposed, thereby reforming the silicon oxide film.

Safety procedure analysis for obstacle avoidance in autonomous vehicles

In various examples, a current claimed set of points representative of a volume in an environment occupied by a vehicle at a time may be determined. A vehicle-occupied trajectory and at least one object-occupied trajectory may be generated at the time. An intersection between the vehicle-occupied trajectory and an object-occupied trajectory may be determined based at least in part on comparing the vehicle-occupied trajectory to the object-occupied trajectory. Based on the intersection, the vehicle may then execute the first safety procedure or an alternative procedure that, when implemented by the vehicle when the object implements the second safety procedure, is determined to have a lesser likelihood of incurring a collision between the vehicle and the object than the first safety procedure.
