Drive system for surgical tool

A surgical tool for use with a robotic system that includes a tool drive assembly that is operatively coupled to a control unit of the robotic system that is operable by inputs from an operator and is configured to robotically-generate output motions. A drive system is configured to interface with a corresponding portion of the tool drive assembly for receiving the robotically-generated output motions and applying the output motions to a drive shaft assembly which is configured to apply control motions to a surgical end effector operably coupled thereto. A manually-actuatable control system operably interfaces with the drive shaft assembly to facilitate the selective application of manually-generated control motions to the drive shaft assembly.

Mobile patient alarm display

This disclosure describes example alarm notification systems that can enable a clinician to respond to an alarm notification received via a computing device, which may have more advanced functionality than a pager. The clinician device may be a mobile device, such as a cellphone or smartphone, tablet, laptop, personal digital assistant (PDA), or the like. The clinician device may communicate with a remote server to obtain patient data generated by a patient device at the point-of-care (such as a bedside device or patient-worn monitor). This patient data may be continuous monitoring data for one or more patients. A mobile application (optionally a browser application) on the clinician device can enable the clinician to view continuous monitoring data for multiple patients, as well as view and respond to alarms and alerts, all from the clinician device, regardless of location.

Clamping device with parallel jaw closure

A surgical clamping device includes a tool assembly having a first jaw and a second jaw. The first jaw includes a mount portion and a clamping portion and the second jaw includes a proximal portion having first and second side walls defining a central cavity. The mount portion of the first jaw is received within the central cavity of the second jaw. One of the mount portion of the first jaw or the proximal portion of the second jaw includes first and second cam members and the other of the mount portion of the first jaw or the proximal portion of the second jaw defines at least one cam slot that receives the first and second cam members. The at least one cam slot is configured to cause parallel closure of the first and second jaws.

Polymerizable self-assembled monolayers for use in atomic layer deposition

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) were selectively prepared on portions of a substrate surface utilizing compounds comprising a hydrogen-bonding group and polymerizable diacetylene group. The SAMs were photopolymerized using ultraviolet light. The pre-polymerized and polymerized SAMs were more effective barriers against metal deposition in an atomic layer deposition process compared to similar compounds lacking these functional groups.

Systems and methods for recentering input controls

Systems and methods of recentering an input control include a control unit configured to suspend teleoperated control of an end effector by the input control in response to a recentering request, determine a recentering move for the input control to provide positional and orientational harmony between the input control and the end effector, execute the recentering move, and reinstate teleoperated control of the end effector by the input control. In some embodiments, to determine the recentering move the control unit is configured to determine one or more first positions associated with the end effector, map the first positions to a view coordinate system, map the first positions from the view coordinate system to a console workspace coordinate system, and determine one or more second positions for one or more control points on the input control, the control points corresponding to the mapped first positions in the console workspace coordinate system.

Data collection systems and methods with alternate routing of input channels

The present disclosure describes monitoring systems and methods for data collection in an industrial environment. A system can include a data collector and a data acquisition circuit to interpret a plurality of detection values corresponding to input channels, wherein the data acquisition circuit acquires sensor data from a first route of input channels. A data storage stores sensor specifications for sensors and a data analysis circuit evaluates the sensor data with respect to the stored anticipated state information including an alarm threshold level. The data analysis circuit sets an alarm state when the alarm threshold level is exceeded for a first input channel and transmits the alarm state to a routing control facility. A response circuit changes the routing of the input channels to an alternate routing upon reception of a routing change indication from the routing control facility.
