Vertical furnace for processing substrates and a liner for use therein
The disclosure relates to a vertical furnace for processing a plurality of substrates and a liner for use therein. The vertical furnace having an outer reaction tube having a central axis; and a liner constructed to extend in the interior of the outer reaction tube. The liner defines an interior space for accommodating substrates and is provided with a gas exhaust hole extending from the interior space to the outside. One of the outer wall of the liner and the inner wall of the reaction tube is provided with a flow deflector that protrudes radially from the respective wall into a gas passage between an outer wall of the liner and an inner wall of the reaction tube.

Combining strain-based shape sensing with catheter control
Provided are robotic systems and methods for navigation of luminal network that can improve strain-based shape sensing. In one aspect, the system can compare strain-based shape data to shape data determined based on robotic data (e.g., kinematic model data, torque measurements, mechanical model data, command data, etc.) and adjust the strain-based shape data as necessary. Any portion of the strain-based shape data can be adjusted, weighted differently, or discarded based on the comparison. For example, data from trustworthy sources may indicate that the shape of an instrument exhibits or should exhibit one or more characteristics. If the system determines that any portion of the strain-based shape data is not in agreement with such characteristics, the system may adjust the portion of the strain-based shape data such that the adjusted strain-based shape data is in agreement with the characteristics of the instrument.

Surgical staple configurations with camming surfaces located between portions supporting surgical staples
A surgical staple driver configured for use with a surgical staple cartridge that operably interfaces with a surgical instrument camming member that is axially movable along a first cam axis. A driver body is slidably supportable within the surgical staple cartridge. A camming surface is provided on the driver body that is oriented for camming engagement with the camming member along the first cam axis. The driver further includes a staple supporting portion that is configured to operably support at least one surgical staple thereon relative to the camming surface such that when the camming member engages the camming surface, the camming member passes transversely under a portion of a staple crown of at least one surgical staple supported on the staple supporting portion.

Gap-filling germanium through selective bottom-up growth
A method includes depositing a silicon layer on a plurality of strips. The silicon layer is etched back to remove top portions of the silicon layer, and to expose some portions of the plurality of strips. Some bottom portions of the silicon layer at bottoms of trenches between the plurality of strips remain after the etching back. A germanium layer is selectively grown from remaining portions of the silicon layer, and exposed portions of the plurality of strips remain exposed after the germanium layer is selectively grown.

Method for programmable timeouts of tree traversal mechanisms in hardware
In a ray tracer, to prevent any long-running query from hanging the graphics processing unit, a traversal coprocessor provides a preemption mechanism that will allow rays to stop processing or time out early. The example non-limiting implementations described herein provide such a preemption mechanism, including a forward progress guarantee, and additional programmable timeout options that can be time or cycle based. Those programmable options provide a means for quality of service timing guarantees for applications such as virtual reality (VR) that have strict timing requirements.

Clamping assembly for linear surgical stapler
A surgical stapler includes a first elongate member having a distal portion that supports an anvil surface, and a second elongate member having a distal portion configured to receive a staple cartridge. The stapler further includes a pin rotatably coupled with the first elongate member, and a clamp member movably coupled with the second elongate member. The clamp member is operable to releasably capture the pin to thereby clamp the first elongate member against the second elongate member. The pin is configured to rotate relative to the first elongate member in response to being captured by the clamp member.
