Methods of stapling tissue
A method of stapling tissue is disclosed. The method can include obtaining a staple cartridge including a plurality of staples, wherein each staple has a base and a leg extending from the base. The stapling method can also include firing the staples from the staple cartridge, wherein the staples are fired into tissue in a staple line. The staple line can include a first portion having a first flexibility and a second portion having a second flexibility, wherein the second flexibility is different than the first flexibility. A method of stapling tissue can also include adapting an anvil with an anvil plate having an arrangement of staple-forming pockets that differs from the staple-forming pockets in the anvil.

Surgical instrument system including replaceable end effectors
A surgical stapling instrument comprising a housing, a shaft, an end effector, a first articulation joint configured to permit the end effector to be articulated in a first plane, a second articulation joint configured to permit the end effector to be articulated in a second plane, and a staple firing drive is disclosed. The end effector comprises a distal end, a proximal end, a first jaw, a second jaw rotatable relative to the first iaw, and a staple cartridge. The staple firing drive comprises a firing member and a flexible drive tube extending through the first articulation joint and the second articulation joint. The firing member comprises a first cam, a second cam, and a round attachment aperture. The flexible drive tube comprises a longitudinal length, an outer circumference, a distal end seated in the round attachment aperture, and interlocking cuts in the outer circumference extending longitudinally and circumferentially.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEM INCLUDING REPLACEABLE END EFFECTORS
A surgical instrument system that includes a housing and a rotatable drive shaft, a motor operably coupled to the drive shaft, and a plurality of replaceable end effectors that can be connected to the housing. Each replaceable end effector includes a drive screw that is turned a fixed number of revolutions by the motor-driven rotatable drive shaft when the end effector is connected to the housing. Each end effector further comprises a firing member operably coupled with the drive screw of the end effector. The drive screw is configured to displace the firing member over a firing length as a result of the fixed number of revolutions. In certain embodiments, each replaceable end effector can include a drive screw with a thread pitch set to the firing length divided by the fixed number of revolutions.

Surgical tool assemblies with closure stroke reduction features
A surgical tool assembly that includes a surgical end effector that has first and second jaws that are movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position relative to each other. A proximal closure member is configured to move through a first closure stroke distance upon application of a closure input motion thereto. A closure reduction linkage operably interfaces with the proximal closure member and a distal closure member such that when the proximal closure member moves through the first closure stroke distance, the closure reduction linkage causes the distal closure member to axially move through a second closure stroke distance that is less than the first closure stroke distance.

System and method for wirelessly charging a medical device battery
A system includes a battery having a battery controller and a container including a plurality of receptacles, each receptacle being shaped to receive the battery. The system also includes a charging device including a plurality of charging bays, wherein each charging bay is shaped to receive a respective receptacle of the plurality of receptacles. Each charging bay includes a first antenna configured to provide charging power to the battery, a second antenna configured to communicate with the battery controller, and a charger controller. The charger controller is configured to detect a presence of the battery within a receptacle associated with a charging bay, establish communication with the battery using the second antenna while the first antenna is deactivated, pair the battery to the charging device, activate the first antenna after the battery is paired, and provide charging power to the battery using the first antenna.

Non-contact core body temperature measurement systems and methods
A non-contact temperature measurement system for calculating estimated core body temperature is disclosed. The temperature measurement system can include a sensor that can detect the temperature of a patient and the temperature of ambient surrounding. The temperature of the patient and the ambient temperature can then be used to determine a core body temperature. The temperature measurement system includes an optical module having a light emitter and a light detector. The light emitter emits a beam of light towards the patient and the light detector detects a beam of light reflected by the patient. The reflected beam is analyzed to determine a distance between the temperature measurement system and the patient.

Remote smart NIC-based service acceleration
Systems and methods provide for accelerating and offloading network processing to a remote smart network interface card (NIC). A first network element, including a first smart NIC, can transmit capability information of the first smart NIC for receipt by a neighboring second network element. The second network element can determine that a network processing task of a virtualized network function (e.g., virtual network function (VNF), cloud-native network function (CNF), etc.) instantiated on the second network element can be offloaded to the first smart NIC. The second network element can receive processing information from the virtualized network function for performing the network processing task. Based on the processing information, the second network element can transmit control information that causes the first smart NIC to perform the network processing task on at least a portion of network data received by the first network element for transmission to the second network element.
