Surgical stapler anvil with directionally biased staple pockets
An end effector for a surgical stapling apparatus includes a cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly. The cartridge assembly supports staples. Each staple includes a backspan, a first leg, and a second leg. The first and second legs extend from the backspan. The anvil assembly is coupled to the cartridge assembly. The anvil assembly includes an anvil having opposed side surfaces. The anvil defines a knife slot and biased staple-forming pockets disposed between the opposed side surfaces of the anvil. Each biased staple-forming pocket is positioned to form the first and second legs of a respective staple on one side of the backspan of the respective staple. The one side of the backspan is positioned toward the knife slot of the anvil relative to the opposed side surfaces of the anvil.

RESPIRATORY CORE BODY TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Generally described, the present disclosure relates to measuring core body temperature through respiratory mechanisms. The disclosed techniques can use surface temperature, exhaled air, perfusion information, blood oxygen saturation, respiration rate, circadian rhythms, and the like to obtain an accurate reading of the body's core temperature. Example devices are disclosed for obtaining core temperature from exhaled air and useful mechanisms for presenting this information to a user are also disclosed, including user interfaces and alarm mechanisms. Stereo thermometry methods may also be used to estimate core body temperature. This information can be used to track conditions of a subject, including fever status and comfortability, to ensure full consideration of a subject's well-being.

A Method and Apparatus for Collecting and Using Sensor Data from a Vehicle
A road hazard, such as a traffic collision, traffic regulationviolation, road surface damage, or any other traffic obstruction, is detected by a sensor in a vehicle. The sensor data is sent periodically, or upon detecting the anomaly, to a server over the Internet via a first wireless network, together with a vehicle identifier (Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or the license plate number) and its GNSS or GPS geographic location. The server analyzes the sensor data, and in response sends a notification message to a client device, such as a smartphone, or to a group of vehicles in close vicinity to the first vehicle, via a wireless network over the Internet. The received message may be used by each of the vehicles in the group for controlling, limiting, activating, or otherwise affecting an actuator operation, or may be used for notifying the driver using a dashboard display.

Methods for selectively forming a silicon nitride film on a substrate and related semiconductor device structures
A method for selectively forming a silicon nitride film on a substrate comprising a first metallic surface and a second dielectric surface by a cyclical deposition process is disclosed. The method may comprise contacting the substrate with a first reactant comprising a silicon halide source and contacting the substrate with a second reactant comprising a nitrogen source, wherein the incubation period for the first metallic surface is less than the incubation period for the second dielectric surface. Semiconductor device structures comprising a selective silicon nitride film are also disclosed.

Bonded structures with integrated passive component
In various embodiments, a passive electronic component is disclosed. The passive electronic component can have a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The passive electronic component can include a nonconductive material and a capacitor embedded within the nonconductive material. The capacitor can have a first electrode, a second electrode, and a dielectric material disposed between the first and second electrodes. The first electrode can comprise a first conductive layer and a plurality of conductive fibers extending from and electrically connected to the first conductive layer. A first conductive via can extend through the passive electronic component from the first surface to the second surface, with the first conductive via electrically connected to the first electrode.

Methods, apparatus and systems for annotation of text documents
Methods and apparatus to facilitate annotation projects to extract structured information from free-form text using NLP techniques. Annotators explore text documents via automated preannotation functions, flexibly formulate annotation schemes and guidelines, annotate text, and adjust annotation labels, schemes and guidelines in real-time as a project evolves. NLP models are readily trained on iterative annotations of sample documents by domain experts in an active learning workflow. Trained models are then employed to automatically annotate a larger body of documents in a project dataset. Experts in a variety of domains can readily develop an annotation project for a specific use-case or business question. In one example, documents relating to the health care domain are effectively annotated and employed to train sophisticated NLP models that provide valuable insights regarding many facets of health care. In another example, annotation methods are enhanced by utilizing domain-specific information derived from a novel knowledge graph architecture.

Privacy preserving data deletion
Preserving privacy of deleted personal data is provided. A registration of a client device is received. The client device stores a plurality of personal data corresponding to a plurality of data subjects. A copy of a set of personal data corresponding to a particular data subject deleted from the client device is received along with metadata describing the set of personal data deleted from the client device and a hash key based on the set of personal data deleted from the client device. Access to the copy of the set of personal data deleted from the client device is granted in response to receiving an access request that includes the hash key corresponding to the set of personal data from the particular data subject within a defined period of time. The copy of the set of personal data is deleted after expiration of the defined period of time.

3D chip with shared clock distribution network
Some embodiments of the invention provide a three-dimensional (3D) circuit that is formed by stacking two or more integrated circuit (IC) dies to at least partially overlap and to share one or more interconnect layers that distribute power, clock and/or data-bus signals. The shared interconnect layers include interconnect segments that carry power, clock and/or data-bus signals. In some embodiments, the shared interconnect layers are higher level interconnect layers (e.g., the top interconnect layer of each IC die). In some embodiments, the stacked IC dies of the 3D circuit include first and second IC dies. The first die includes a first semiconductor substrate and a first set of interconnect layers defined above the first semiconductor substrate. Similarly, the second IC die includes a second semiconductor substrate and a second set of interconnect layers defined above the second semiconductor substrate. As further described below, the first and second dies in some embodiments are placed in a face-to-face arrangement (e.g., a vertically stacked arrangement) that has the first and second set of interconnect layers facing each other. In some embodiments, a subset of one or more interconnect layers of the second set interconnect layers of the second die has interconnect wiring that carries power, clock and/or data-bus signals that are supplied to the first IC die.

Fluid delivery device for a hydraulic fracturing system
A syringe assembly for a hydraulic fracturing system includes a syringe having a material chamber, a base fluid chamber, and a piston. The material chamber is configured to be fluidly connected to a fluid conduit. The piston retracts to draw material into the material chamber. The piston extends to push the material into the fluid conduit. The syringe assembly includes a diverter fluidly connected to the base fluid chamber and moveable between first and second positions. The first position of the diverter fluidly connects the base fluid chamber to a base fluid reservoir of the hydraulic fracturing system and fluidly disconnects the base fluid chamber from an outlet of a frac pump of the hydraulic fracturing system. The second position of the diverter fluidly connects the base fluid chamber to the outlet of the frac pump and fluidly disconnects the base fluid chamber from the base fluid reservoir.

User experience oriented path selection
Methods and systems for path selection involving remote access protocols and/or user behavior are described herein. A request, from a first computing device, for content hosted on a second computing device may be received. Based on network state metrics, remote access protocol metrics, and/or user experience metrics, a path of a plurality of paths between the first computing device and the second computing device may be selected. The path need not be the most direct path between the first computing device and the second computing device, and may comprise remote access to a computing device on an intermediary server. Based on user behavior analysis performed with respect to user input data, a path may be re-selected, and/or the network state metrics, remote access protocol metrics, and/or user experience metrics may be weighted.
