Base station, charging station, and/or server for robotic catheter systems and other uses, and improved articulated devices and systems

Articulation devices, systems, methods for articulation, and methods for fabricating articulation structures will often include simple balloon arrays, with inflation of the balloons interacting with elongate skeletal support structures so as to locally alter articulation of the skeleton. The skeleton may comprise a simple helical coil or interlocking helical channels, and the array can be used to locally deflect or elongate an axis of the coil under control of a processor. Liquid inflation fluid may be directed so as to pressurize the balloons from an inflation fluid canister, and may vaporize within a plenum or the channels or balloons of the articulation system, with the inflation system preferably including valves controlled by the processor. The articulation structures can be employed in minimally invasive medical catheter systems, and also for industrial robotics, for supporting imaging systems, for entertainment and consumer products, and the like.

Surgical instrument assembly comprising a flexible articulation system

A surgical instrument can include a shaft, an end effector, and an articulation joint configured to permit the end effector to rotate relative to the shaft about the articulation joint. The surgical instrument can further comprise a first articulation actuator for rotating the end effector in a first direction and a second articulation actuator for rotating the end effector in a second direction. The articulation actuators can be configured to push the end effector. The articulation actuators can assume different configurations depending on whether they are experiencing a compressive load or a tensile load. The articulation joint can comprise an articulation frame which forms a proximal joint with the shaft and a distal joint with the end effector. The joints can comprise fixed axis joints and/or ball-and-socket joints, for example. The articulation joint can comprise links having different sizes to facilitate the articulation of the articulation joint.

ENDOSCOPIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH A HANDLE THAT CAN ARTICULATE WITH RESPECT TO THE SHAFT

A surgical instrument particular suited to endoscopic use is disclosed. Various embodiments include an end effector that is sized to be inserted through a trocar. An elongated shaft assembly is coupled to the end effector and a control handle. The elongated shaft assembly has a distal portion that is adjacent to the effector for insertion into the trocar. The elongated shaft assembly further has a proximal portion that is remote from the distal portion such that the proximal portion protrudes from the trocar when the end effector and distal portion are inserted therethrough. The control handle is articulatably coupled to the proximal portion of said elongated shaft assembly to enable the surgeon to move the handle portion to a more ergonomically comfortable position while carrying out the endoscopic procedure. Various articulation joint embodiments and locking arrangements are disclosed.

Methods for forming a topographically selective silicon oxide film by a cyclical plasma-enhanced deposition process

Methods for forming a topographically selective silicon oxide film by a cyclical plasma-enhanced deposition process are provided. The methods may include: forming a topographically selective silicon oxide film by a plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) process or a cyclical plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (cyclical PECVD) process. The methods may also include: forming a silicon oxide film either selectivity over the horizontal surfaces of a non-planar substrate or selectively over the vertical surfaces of a non-planar substrate.

Integrated electrode and ground plane for a substrate support

Embodiments described herein relate to apparatus for radio frequency (RF) grounding in process chambers. In one embodiment, a heater is disposed in a substrate support. The heater is surrounded by a ground shield assembly. The substrate support also includes a multi-zone electrode disposed therein. The multi-zone electrode includes one or more portions of an electrode disposed in a plane. One or more portions of a multi-zone ground plane are interposed with the one or more portions of the electrode. That is, the multi-zone ground plane and the multi-zone electrode are coplanar with the one or more portions of the electrode alternating with one or more portions of the multi-zone ground plane throughout a plane of the substrate support.
